Drestig Avalon
Backdated to 8/6. Please allow @Adelayde to post first - for @Lachesis & @Lilya other HR members please ask before joining.

It had taken longer to reach the Kingsfall forest than he’d anticipated; Rounding the springs and following the eastern slopes of the fjord until they reached Turtleback Lake, which he chose to circle southward, to avoid crossing the rivers in both ends. It was a longer trek, and his stiffening legs started to protest a bit, but he didn’t regret the decision; Crossing the water would have left him and his companion just as tired, and soaking wet to boot. Now, at last, they arrived at Hearthwood’s southern borders, dry and in good spirits, despite worn paws. Oblivious to the bad news that awaited them, Drestig Avalon smiled at the agouti woman by his side, once again happy to have her company on this trip; As well as her patience with his aging legs that didn’t move as swiftly as they used to.

Coming to a halt before the border, he took only a short break to breathe before raising his head, calling for XIX and Kisla in a bright, friendly voice. His tail wagged casually, head tilting slightly as he looked over at Adelayde, with that same easy smile. He was expecting a pleasant conversation and hopefully a chance to rest their paws for another day or two before moving on. Unlike the Notch, or Whitestone Monadnock where they were headed next, Hearthwood River was practically family, and Drestig felt perfectly at ease here among wolves he trusted almost as much as his own pack. Not quite as good as being home, but among friends all the same.

Adelayde Artemieva
Scout Demonstration 1/3

Her paws itched with a fury like never before. It wasn't an itch that needed to be simply scratched or one that made her crave for home. Her paws itched to be at Hearthwood River, where she knew he'd be. The Snow woman couldn't really remember how many moons had passed, the fortnights seemed to just collide into each other and made it even more difficult to keep track of their time apart. The more she thought of it when she was home in the fields, the less she wanted to dwell on the fact she didn't know when the next time she was going to see him again. However, now Adelayde was finally making her way to Hearthwood River where she could hopefully steal some of his time.

Too distracted to notice Drestig smiling at her before the two of them hit the border, her focus solely on seeing his fiery gaze again. One could say she was on Cloud 9 with a merry smile plastered onto her face as they finally reached the borders for the River wolves. Noticing his scent mixed strongly within the borders, her grin widened as she looked over to her companion oblivious to the fact that she may seem just a bit too happy to be at their neighbor's territory. As her companion and leader pleasantly called for an audience, her mismatched gaze strained into into the darkened forest for any sign of his approach. Deciding quickly, she joined Drestig towards the end of his howl with a soft call of her own for the leaders as well. She didn't call for him – though it took every ounce of her not too, the Rye woman knew he'd hear.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
guardian dem 1/3

nna and Lorcán had left for the Fields in an attempt to find Risaela and deliver tragic news. The pack had grown significantly smaller in the past few weeks, shrinking in size from the impressive number they had finally obtained after months of struggle. Two wolves had disappeared, without a word or a trail to follow. One had been a new face, unknown to the river wolves, while the other had been one Lachesis had shared a pack with before. He was disappointed in the latter’s absence, for he had hoped the Attaya would remain in Hearthwood. Perhaps he had caught wind of one of his siblings, for he seemed determined to make the northern pack work. The ghost frowned, his forehead wrinkling with grief.

He hoped that the scouts would return with news of the little Tainn, for Uncle Cloud had not stopped worrying about the silver-eyed girl since his sidekick had notified him at the meeting. She had done what any normal child would have done after witnessing her mother’s brutal death—she ran. The pale leader could not scold her for fleeing the Kingswood, for with her wandering paws, he expected her flighty response. It was the length of her absence that worried him, for he wondered how far she had gone…

A howl sounded, plucking him from his thoughts and causing his lips to fall into a soft frown. Drestig? He blinked, confused by the dark male’s presence. He had just sent two scouts east, why had the older male come to Hearthwood? Had something happened to Inna and Lorcán—or was it about Risaela? He remembered talk of a group hunt once spring had come and gone; had he come to arrange it? Perplexed the leader pulled himself away from his wallowing and trotted in the direction of the call, his pace swift as he maneuvered expertly through the trees.

“@Drestig,” he greeted, tipping his nose in a polite nod to the older Rye alpha before turning to his blue-eyed companion: “@Adelayde.” He paused once he reached the edge of the trees, curious as to whether @Lilya would join them or not (depending if she managed to sneak away from the trouble twins). “It’s good to see you both. I actually have two scouts heading your way,” he added, his nose twitching as he studied the pair before him. He wondered if he had crossed paths with them on his venture over to the Kingswood…

Lilya Valrorys
Guardian Demonstration 1/3

While late to the meeting, Lilya still made an effort to arrive, her little ones safely inside the borders so she didn’t worry about them wandering past the scent lines. Lachesis had arrived, greeting their guests as a soft smile played her maw. She had a respect for the Rye wolves, especially seeing as she considered Jessie a good friend of hers. She offered Lachesis a soft bump to the shoulder and a soft nod of greeting to the two allies at their border. “Ah hope ya bring better news than our scouts will be delivering to your borders once they arrive.”

Kisla’s death was a hard loss, and things were strained – Lilya was just confident they could made it through it relatively unscathed. She knew for certain that she would never let anything come to harm the Hearthwood, not if she could stop it. She didn’t mean for her words to sound ominous, but looking back on them, they did. She was fairly certain they’d ask what she meant if they faced any concern or confusion and she could explain. After all, it was news they would get either way, so why not tell them now? Either way, only if they asked.

Laike Artemieva

LAIKE ARTEMIEVA

The call had started off unfamiliar but at the end, there was a second voice, far more familiar. His tail swayed and a large smile pulled across his face for the briefest moment. "It's about damn time she came to see this forest." Laike wasn't sure if she had actually been her before or not but if she had been then it was before they had met. He set off at a brisk pace, settling his emotions back into neutral mentioning there had been a voice before Adelayde joined in.

It seemed he was already a little late as Lachesis and Lilya were standing there greeting their guests. A dark, older male and his girlfriend? crush? good friend Adelayde. He offered a polite nod to everyone there, lingering off to the side of his pale male leader. Of course, how could he stop himself from letting his gaze linger on the female Rye wolf? They had never met on such a serious thing. He hadn't imagined her seeming more like a business partner than a good friend but here she was. At his borders with his leaders and perhaps her own. Or maybe he was an advisor? He looked like he could be one.

For now, he was content to stay silent. Once this was all done he would try to steal a moment or two with the tawny female.

Drestig Avalon

One would need to be blind not to spot Adelayde’s excitement as they walked up to the borders. Though he was preoccupied with the matters he had come to discuss, the leader did notice how she joined into his call, which she hadn’t found necessary at the Notch. But other than shooting her a sideways glance and lopsided grin, he didn’t comment on it, she was allowed her secret, whoever it might be. There wasn’t much time for questions anyway, as they were quickly answered by the pale leader of the River. Drestig smiled at his off-white counterpart, though the younger face seemed to be folded in concern, his greeting words muted, and ending in a surprising message. Before the Rye king could answer, another wolf joined them, drawing up close beside Lachesis with a rather cryptic salute of her own.

Drestig frowned. Had their faces and voices not been so somber, he might have made a quip about great minds, as it was he was left stumped, smile fading as he looked between the two. “They must have slipped us by, probably going north around the mountains. We came from the south.” His tone was neutral, frown growing deeper as he looked closer at the unfamiliar, agouti woman. Where was Kisla? He half expected her to appear when a new rustle came from the underbrush, but it was yet another stranger, stopping silently, standing a bit back from the others. There was little attention to spare for this new addition though, as Drestig once again looked between XIX and his partner? Standing as tall and confident as the lead male.

A soft sigh fell from dark lips, he had a bad feeling where this was going; “I had hoped we could avoid bad news this time around.” His gaze finally settled in the deep blue eyes, a light nod tilting his head; “We haven’t been properly introduced, I’m Drestig Avalon, leader of Wild Rye Fields, a few days west of here.” They had to start somewhere, and that seemed the most appropriate; Then we can get to the bad news.

Sorry for the delay!! >_<
scout dem 2/3

Perhaps, Adelayde wasn't as good at keeping secrets as she thought as she tried to not so casually call out for her crush?fling thing?-friend. It was evident that Drestig had an inclining as to what that was after he gave her glance and lopsided grin before the leaders of the River and hopefully Laike joined them. However, if Drestig did know what that was about, he didn't push the subject, but perhaps that was going to be saved for the trip home?

First to join them was Lachesis, the pale leader greeting the two of them with a polite nod before notifying them of two scouts of their own were traveling to the Rye. The pit of her stomach ached as she felt something off, did Lach seem more solemn than normal? However, they were joined by another, a female this time and she confirmed the suspicion that deepened in her stomach. Was there an accident? An attack? Her thoughts went instantly to Laike, her pale companion she had yet to realize the feelings she held for him. Was he alright?

As her mini panic attack worsened, she was graced with the presence of her pale companion, erasing the fear that surprisingly rattled her. Her mismatched gaze locked upon his as a wave of relief flooded over her as she gave him a nervous smile before she glanced at Drestig as he introduced himself to the blue eyed woman alongside Lachesis. Clearing her throat, "And I'm Adelayde, second of the Rye," she stated with a polite smile. Like the last meeting at the Notch, she let Drestig take the reins as she listened though she snuck a few glances towards Laike as the conversation furthered.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
guardian dem 2/3 @Lilya
-- also, not sure if you wanna keep @Laike in here? :B i'm good with whatever you decide! i just left my post vague just in case

His chartreuse gaze fell to his tawny mate as she sidled up to his side, his lips slipping into a soft smile as she greeted the pair before them. He knew that Lilya had always been fond of the western pack, and always pushed for Lachesis to trust them as much as she had. His tune had changed, with the help of both Lilya and Kisla, along with a few good eggs in the Fields ranks. Plus, the distance between Hearthwood and the golden Fields was plenty and he no longer worried that they were going to settle too close.

His stomach dropped with the words that tumbled off his mate’s tongue, his brows pinching together as he redirected his attention to Drestig and his second. He was perplexed at why the Fields wolves had arrived on their borders, but Hearthwood couldn’t be the only pack with news to share. Lachesis just hoped, like his mate, that Drestig was delivering good news. Perhaps they had caught wind of Risaela…

He remained silent, allowing the Valrorys to introduce herself after both Drestig and Adelayde gave their names. His toes curled in anticipation—he was not ready to deliver bad news, but he knew it had to be done. Perhaps we could start with some good news? He offered, a hesitant smile tugging at his lips: What brings you two to the east? I hope everything is well in Wild Rye. It had to be better than what had happened to the river pack.

Lilya Valrorys
Guardian Demonstration 2/3

It was unfortunate that she appeared to be the bringer of bad news, a soft frown hinting her features. He introduced himself as the leader, and Lilya reasoned that he must be Jessie’s mate. She wondered how her friend was doing across the way, if everything was well for her, the pack, and her children in particular. “Ah don’t believe we ‘ave. M’Lilya Valrorys n’Ah lead beside m’husband, Lachesis.” It took everything in her to not use a nickname but she did assert herself and place her title clearly. This was, after all, a formal pack affair. She did not ask how Jessie was. She would save that question for once business was concluded. She offered a nod of greeting to both Drestig and his subordinate.

She allowed Lachesis to take it from there, simply standing beside him as he asked them what had brought them on a multiple days long journey. She too hoped that everything was well. Her mind briefly wandered to the missing child, Risaela, wondering if she was safe or if perhaps that was the news they had brought. Or perhaps they had caught wind of Lekalta? Either one would be a sight for sore eyes, and welcomed news so long as they were still breathing.
