after the cut comes the blood
Piety Kael

She was in an absolutely glorious mood and wasn't at all trying to hide it. Her tail was very commonly swaying behind her pale form if she wasn't laying down. A rather sly grind could easily be spotted on her scarred face if one looked. Odin was home! She was glad to have him back within Whitestone Monadnock. No one could convince her that this wasn't some kind of positive sign. Piety knew they had had their ups and downs since Morganna and crew departed but they had thrived. Yet she felt better about the turmoil now.

The pale leader had climbed up on the large gold-veined boulders that were commonly used for meetings. She was content to lay out over it and enjoy the cool evening. The sun hadn't set yet but the sky was showing obvious signs of changing. Her muddy colored eyes looked out over the large expanse of the lowlands. It was a rather barren place except for a few trees, hills, or other large boulders. Although nothing as large the Monadnock stuck up from the earth. This giant slab of stone was a throne with the best view.

Piety rolled from her stomach to her side. She wondered if others had caught sight of the Archer yearling yet. Then again she assumed to most (if not all) of the wolves here would just see him as a new face.

Odin Archer

Quick to try and prove his worth, after a small feed and a quick nap, the Archer had roused himself to do a quick pass of the borders. They were telling him more than he might have gained laying about at the top of the rock. The ranks were quite diminished from the Monadnock of his youth, in fact, outside of the leading pair it seemed only @Saradathia remained of the wolves he had left behind (and maybe a few stragglers from Craw's old band, enough to wrinkle his nose with distaste but he wasn't in a position to do anything about it). He was a bit disappointed to not scent the tawny healer among them but shrugged it off to a fact of life. He only paused a moment to wonder what he might be doing these days before taking in the long shadows that stretched out on the ground before him and turning back towards home.

@Wraith had, of course, beaten him to the top of the Monadnock, speed had never really been the boy's strong suit despite his height and apparent lankiness, he was for the most part mostly muscle. Chuckling under his breath and shaking his head he finally made his way back to the boulders that served as his first den to find @Piety sprawled out atop the stones enjoying the last of the sun. Much like he had done to @Greer in days long past, he jumped onto the stone in playful ambush, jaws parted to try and rake through the fur on Piety's temples or neck. It was as if he had never left at all.

She had been mindlessly staring off into the lands when she felt his weight. At first, she wondered if Wraith was still feeling rambunctious but the way the teeth raked through the fur on her neck and that specific odor let her know it was Odin. In a semi-retaliation, she lifted her paw to carefully swat at the male. A wide smile (along with her tail heavily beating against the stone) was a sign she didn't mind the little ambush.

"Well rested and full?" The pale leader asked the Archer yearling in a kind tone. She wondered if he had managed to snag some rest or if he was still worked up from the reuniting and joining. Regardless Piety figured he would sleep well tonight, likely near her and Wraith if he didn't find his own spot to curl up first. Maybe she was being slightly selfish but the thought of being able to be cozied up with multiple bodies (granted she did usually have Cyril and Wraith) was a delightful thought.

She stretched her neck out to nip at his cheek gently. It was nice to have a more familiar face. Even Saradathia was practically a stranger despite her being her as long as Piety knew.

He allowed her paw to catch his face, jaws opening to mouth at the offending appendage with less than a hint of malice. He dropped down beside the leader readily rolling onto his back with legs flailing in the air, the cool stone scratching welcomingly in a way that softer earth could not. Well rested and full? he snorted as he heard his mother's voice inside his head loudly declaring Never! to the latter although he was better fed than he had been in weeks and that was enough. "Yeah, had a good stretch too," he responded with a lopsided smile, only made all the more comical by the fact that he was upside down.

Finally righting himself, he allowed his paws to stretch out until he was in a comfortable splooting position, "Doesn' seem like many stuck around? I caught a whiff o' Sara but no sign of Lorc, I thought for sure he'd still be here?" His head tilted with the question wondering if he had simply vanished or chosen to take his leave in a more meaningful way. He had learned much from the healers of Torbine and had been looking forward to sharing his new knowledge with someone who would appreciate it.

Piety could only see him as a giant child in some aspects. For she did not know what he did outside of her eyesight and ear shot. In a way, he was one of the only untainted things in this world. He was a beacon of hope for their future - or so she liked to think.

"Good." She cooed softly as she held back a laugh at his lopsided grin. It was good to have at least one of the Archer's back. For it seemed like she simply couldn't let them go from her mind and heart. It was a curse and a blessing all at once. But she could dwell on those thoughts later when the large yearling wasn't lounging by her side. Seemed like she would have other things to fill her mind as well, Odin posed a question for her and she couldn't stop her face from falling into something between somber and coldness.

Her muddy eyes turned to look at the one-eyed boy. "He left shortly after everyone else did." She fought back any bitterness in her tone. It wasn't her fault that he wanted to leave, wasn't her fault that he wanted to leave them in their time of need. "Claimed he wanted to start fresh somewhere else. So we let him." She shrugged softly, closing the matter unless he pushed further.

"We really took a blow when your mother left but I couldn't blame her or anyone that followed after her." For it had been clear that everyone's loyalty had laid with the Archer and Spider but the wolves here now? These were her and Wraith's subordinates. Loyal creatures that lived under their word.

Huh. It seemed his mother really left a whirlwind in her wake, but then again, when didn't she? Even now she was out stirring up trouble, drawing in those she thought might further her cause, that would stand beside her in a way that Craw hadn't. He marveled at his mother and her ability to keep going, her sheer determination something the younger wolf had missed out on, much happier to go with the flow. But then again, he had been protected from so much that made her the way she was. "Figures." He decided it was best to leave it at that. Her tone told him he may have poked a bruise and he didn't want to cause her more discomfort but there were so many gaps in the story between when he left, and when he returned.

"Figured wi' th' northerners 'ere Craw woulda stuck around too..." He casually remarked, having no clue what had happened to his silvery father figure after his mother's abrupt departure. At least Mittani had made an effort at joining while the rest stalked around the fringes, hiding in the shadows and generally making a nuisance of themselves. "But a few o' them are gone too aren't they? Did he go with Mitt an' the other woman? what was'er name? Angrydad?" He never did quite wrap his tongue around the pronunciation of that one...

"Figures."

She had to bite her tongue and try to silence her mind before she conjured up a hundred and one questions. Piety didn't want to read too much into the male's one worded answer. It was vague and anything that she tried to pull from it would have likely been far-fetched and incorrect.

Piety's brain quickly flipped focus as the Archer spoke of Craw. She smirked as her head swayed side to side. "He went after your mother." Morganna could be forgiving (for look how the former Santoro and Archer's relationship had flipped) but she had a strong feeling that Craw might not be forgiven. "As for Angrydad," Piety couldn't hold back her laughter at even using the name Odin had conjured up for the ex-wife. The pale leader had forgotten the name of that northerner but it sure did sound familiar or close. "I'm not sure what happened to her. Mittani was banished for attacking one of our allies and Roosemooth is gone too now." Her pale shoulders shrugged. "Cheedo is the only one left. She's proven herself rather well and is aiming towards being a scout." A pale brow raised above muddy eyes. "Mentioning this is your homeland perhaps you could suggest some places for her to visit?" Piety wouldn't it press it upon Odin further than that but she would certainly be grateful for his help.

Without shame she did her best to roll into the large Archer, looking for - perhaps - something familiar in his scent and touch.

Odin Archer

Odin's jaw closed with a click as he considered Piety's words - that Craw had come after them. He wondered if perhaps he was missing a show, but then again, the chances of him getting further than the borders where slim to none. If the Archer's were good at anything it was protecting their own. His mother probably wouldn't even hear that he had been by, and it was probably for the best. She had settled down in Torbine and the more laid back disposition had suited her... not to mention she'd need every ounce of patience she could wrangle to look after all those kids.

But he was drawn back to the tundra as Piety filled the gaps. Mitt had been banished, and a low huff left his chest at the mention of the man being banished, "Y'shoulda pushed him off the edge," he suggested with a smirk and a tilt of his head towards the looming cliffs that surrounded them. You never wanted to run too far or fast in one direction or another. The ground ran out without fail.

Her next question required a bit of thought. "West o' here, about a day and a half away, there's a hill that looks like the side of it's caved in. I've never gotten close enough ter actually check it out yet, but it might be a good place ter have checked out in case someone's scoutin' that way and the weather turns bad. If there's a crack or somethin' big enough ter get out of the weather that is." It could be a complete bust, but they wouldn't know if they didn't check it out.
