Re: Strong winds are whipping up leaves into small colourful whirlwinds.

Phone Post. Forgive typos ;_;

Garmir jolted awake from long, dreamless slumber that had taken him down somewhere during the night as he had travelled. It was already midday and everything seemed different from what he remembered. Or what did he remember of his nightly travel? He remembered staring at the ground as he obsessively walked forward, cold and shivering from crossing the waters in his quest to make it ever more West. All that was blurry, Garmir unable to tell when had he arrhived to this...broken forest where more trees seemed fallen than standing.

But now was not time to wonder how he had got here. Something or someone had stirred Garmir awake. He had been conditioned to always sleep lightly, sleep being enemy that should never be allowed to take you completely. Too many times had Garmir's higher ups sneaked on him to give him a bite or beating if the young male did not show he had noticed the threat. Right now he felt like someone had just tried to sneak up on him.

His green eyes surveyed the scene around him. There were unfortunately many places to hide around him, the ground littered with fallen trees offering plenty of cover for potential assailant(s). His ears rotated around as Garmir tried note anything unusual. All he heard was wind rustling leaves.

Grumbling he stood up onto his paws. He murmured in low, demanding tone; "Show yourself. If you come in peace there be no harm done." Almost right away, wind blew harder, catching leaves from the ground and lifting them into air in spectacular colorful whirl that briefly startled Garmir. The Wolf watched shades of yellow, red and orange dance before him as if summoned by Garmir's words...

Reyes

Tcht.

Reyes pressed his tongue hard against his teeth, producing the raspy noise as he peered through the trees. He and his mate – and their ragged band of travelers – had taken to the pine forest for the past few days; he wasn’t sure if they were sticking around or moving on just yet, but he’d scented another loner in the area and gone out to investigate. That was his role, wasn’t it? Protector. Enforcer. Askan was the man with the plan, and Reyes brought down the hammer.

The leaves whipped around him as the gray wolf came into view; it was not an animal he met before. Reyes ears rolled backwards, his tail arching up high over his haunches as he appeared from the shadows, claws scrapping across the leaf litter as he made himself apparent. Harm. Please. Who did this guy think he was, anyways?

“Ain’t wise t’make threats when you haven’t got a damn idea who’s on the other side.”

If the guy had any intention to follow through remained to be seen; Reyes was confident he could take care of himself, but if Percy and Cotton and them were gonna be around, well, he had to be careful who he let near his little family, all sewn together from mismatched pieces and the odd bit of thread.

The natures small spectacle only added drama to Reyes' entry as the leafs fell down like rain upon his reveal. Garmir's mind and body spring awake, adrenaline hightening his senses and attention as the stranger spoke his first words in odd accent to Garmir's ears.

There was no reply from the earthen male, not at least initially. He stood there, tall and ready as his eyes rapidly devoured through details, his ears listened those words -the newcomers own tone threatening more than Garmir's - least in his opinion. What little scent he could pick from this far told Garmir the other one was older than him, possibly twice.

In his mind he made threat assasment. Reyes was older, which implied skill and experience. He was - for what it appeared slightly larger, bulkier perhaps although both wolves stood in same category. The confidence and way he spoke implied Reyes thought Garmir was inferior, which quite possibly was true. Even as arrogant Garmir could be, he least recognized this. Conclusion; Odds were not in his favor.

Sensible way to react would have been to back down or try to reduce tension, but Garmir did exactly the opposite. Once his eyes had gathered all he could in this limited time, his gaze turned straight up to meet Reyes's gaze, those poison green orbs narrowing the slightest. He made no snarls or growls, his facial expression minimal and neutral but rest of his posture was more provoking. His tail curled up, his ears stood erect and his eyes moved nowhere from Reyes.

Again wind caught leafs and tossed them around, Bright colors dancing around the two, almost forming a circle around them as they whirled skywards. Only now Garmir spoke, his tone almost disinterested. "I don't care."

Reyes

Reyes’ brow twitched as he studied the younger wolf – the other male was clearly the same. Except he wasn’t a damn idiot, and he could tell he had the stranger outmatched; it was the way he stood, the arch of his tell, the frame on which his muscles held. If the kid had any kind of brain – and clearly he didn’t – he’d know this wasn’t a fight he wanted to pick. So, instead, he picked one anyways.

Rolling silver eyes, the older wolf huffed. His whiskers bristled, ears planning out sideways as he started to close the gap between them. “Then you’re a damn fool,” he replied gruffly, leaves crinkling beneath his paws as he flashed his teeth in evident threat. “And I don’t have time for children and idiots. Leave.”

With his rag-tag family hanging around, he couldn’t leave anything to chance.

Garmir Ghostpaw

Up until now Garmir had not been sure why had this grumpy stranger chosen to approach him. He could have just been fight addict, or someone who enjoyed crushing others, but as Reyes opened his mouth and spat his insults, followed by demand for Garmir to leave, the earthen male picked plenty of details which allowed him to assess this situation further. A brief smirk came upon his face as he watched the older male start approaching. Garmir did the same, but did not directly come at Reyes, instead averting slightly to the side, but still closing their distance further.

"Leave..." -He murmured, repeating the other one's words. "Leave." -He said it again, now mimicing Reyes' voice and accent as if to mock him. His smirk only grew wider. Garmir understood Reyes was not doing this because the youngster might have been threat to him. No, it was evident from his posture and confidence in which he presented himself that he feared not Garmir, not for his own sake least. He was protecting someone. "I see how this is.... " -he begin, speaking in low but clear voice as distance between them became uncomfortably close. Garmir's hackles rose higher and upper lip was drawing back in direct response to other's threat. "You are not interested in fighting me. You are protecting someone..." -He murmured, holding back a growl as he tried to maintain his calm under this stressful situation. His muzzle reached slightly towards Reyes, to have better whiff of the other in order to pick more scents, perhaps someone else too..

Garmir stood tense, ready to stand his ground and defend himself, but also careful not to make first move. If blood was spilled here today, all blame should be on Reyes.
