Lorcan smiled, his cheeks blushing a bashful pink, as Piety complimented the confident stance he attempted to hold before her. Behind him his black-tipped tail swayed easily, though secretly it took a bit of effort to remain in the posture he had now taken up. The male made a mental note to practice it later on when he was alone — given time, Lorcan was certain it would begin to feel more natural and effortless.
Russet ears pricked up at Piety's laughter as she commented on him not running off this Spring. It was a relief that she could see the funny side now and that she no longer held his past actions against him. The male gave a small grin of his own and hummed softly, not quite able to laugh as openly as Piety had as he still felt a little awkward about the subject.
Lorcan was anxious to hear what Piety had to say in response to hearing his hopes and plans for the future. Whether she knew it then or not, it all really depending on her and what she wanted. With @Wraith only recently passed, Lorcan did not want to pressure Piety into anything. He had promised himself a fresh start with her — a chance to re-write his wrongs and do things the right way. If that meant missing out on pups this year, even with his promised leadership position, so be it.
Pale brows rose and his ears pricked up in surprise when Piety explained how similar their opinions were on the subject. What Lorcan found even more surprising was that she wished for more pups. The male felt a lump grow in his throat before he swallowed it down nervously, his eyes and ears trained onto Piety as she continued. When she mentioned that she wanted a male who was strong and reliable, Lorcan's ears flattened doubtfully. Did she consider him either of those things? Lorcan didn't perceive himself to be particularly strong, and if his past was anything to go by, he was not the most reliable wolf either. He had changed packs numerous times and walked away from the last female he had slept with, leaving his only daughter behind in the process — his stomach churned uncomfortably.
Hopefully someone who might want to stick around. Lorcan's ears pricked up again, suddenly more optimistic. He might not have been strong or reliable in the past, but he had always thought of @Piety and tried to be there for her when he could. He honestly believed that she was good for him. There was something about her that made him feel like he could be better, do better. He wouldn't have accepted the offer to lead if the question had come from anybody else. Lorcan had always imagined himself serving as a subordinate until the day he died — but with Piety, anything was possible.
Golden eyes flickered up to meet her light brown gaze as she asked him to be honest with her. Once again his ears fell back and he felt his sides expand as he nervously breathed in a lungful of crisp air. "If I'm being honest, the only woman I can imagine myself starting a family with is you." A single fang tugged gently at his lower lip then as he worked hard to hold her gaze. She had every right to turn him down, but that wouldn't change the way he felt about her — how he'd always felt about her, no matter how many times he'd tried to deny it.
