He had to get away from that place away, from all the emotion and sadness. There were only unpleasant memories at the Lake now that his mother was dead. There was nothing Aleister could of done for her, so he did what he could while Namid as alive. Bringing what food he could muster while still feeding Neha and hoping that the illness somehow managed to escaped her. Perhaps, if he had been there like Neha had throughout his whole life, Namid could still be here. She wouldn't of suffered the worry of whether or not he was okay and alive. He could of been a better son to her while she was healthy and alive.

Now he couldn't help his mother anymore and instead of wallowing in the sadness that plagued the Lake, the Vuesain littermates retreated from their homeland once again and headed far from the memories. Their paws took them north, where the land flattened and the horizon was clear in the distance. Got any idea where we're going? His paws just kept moving without a destination in mind, though he wasn't sure if Neha shared the same philosophy as her nomadic brother.

All that she knew was that they had to get away. To put as much distance between themselves and their birthplace as possible. Neha and Aleister may have been born in Fallen Tree Cove, but it was no longer their home. With Kajika and Moonshadow leading, both of whom were expecting children of their own, and Namid gone, there was nothing left for them there. The only other wolves of her blood were her son, his location of which still eluding her, and Lunette. Neha had severed all ties to her younger sister a long time ago and she thought of Sachiel only when she was not caught up in her own grief.

Her tears long since dry, her throat raw, she and her cowardly brother fled north. Far away. She moved blindly, with no sense of direction. With no purpose. All that she was aware of was the sense of the dark agouti male by her side and the emptiness threatening to consume her. Each time she looked at his face, she was reminded. Those bi colored eyes reminiscent of Sachiel's. His coat and stature a trademark of their father. As much as it pained her to remember, Aleister was all she had left. She had been so certain in her youth that Cernan whom she had bonded with deeply, would be her lifelong companion. Never would she imagine that it was he who would leave unexpectedly and her deserter brother be the one to sweep in and be by her side when she was at her weakest.

His voice pulled her from her dizzying thoughts to take notice of the transformation of the land. Beneath them the ground was flat and easy to navigate. Ahead of them the horizon panned out, the treeline thinning to give way to a great expanse of golden open fields. "...No. I've...I've traveled north before, but not this far. I don't know where we are." She said while recalling her one time visit to the vast lake as a yearling a long time ago.

He didn't notice that he pulled his sister out of daze though she didn't give much evidence of it other than finally looking around them at the expanse of the land ahead of them. The nomad was accustomed to changing landscaped having been on the move since he was young, never staying in one place for too long. Normally, he was hunted down because of his thieving of caches owned by local packs, so before he got his hide skinned, he'd be out of the area and onto the next.

Aleister never thought of what direction to go next aside from the areas to avoid where he was ran out of, but now with Neha with him, they couldn't just wander around aimlessly. Especially with Neha being so underweight. There was more meat on her bones than when he found her, but she still had a ways to go.

His sister wasn't sure where they were after all. Do you want to keep going on by ourselves? Part of his question was if she wanted to keep going north while the other was questioning whether or not she wanted to go on with just the two of them. Aleister rarely joined packs, merely trying to survive through winter when he did. But Neha needed more help than Aleister could do by himself and still keep himself alive. Especially now that they were in the tundra where prey was much more sparse and harder to catch. They needed a plan.

OOC: Sorry, Corona's still a little nekkid :3 I hope this works okay for you guys, thanks for inviting me!

It was a struggle, a real pain in the arse to have come all this way, just to see more fields and rocks. Where were the wolves? The ones who could help her on her journey? Where were her friends? Pads lightly met the straw below as she made her way from the forest's edge. She stood there for a moment, remembering how her father warned her about the disadvantages of traveling out in the open. The breeze was cool against the overcast skies, something she found so endearing. It ruffled through her fur, bringing with it scents of the unknown. Adventure. Perhaps this vast expanse of earth laid homage to a pack of caribou or bison. Perhaps she should wait and see what lay before her. Needless to admit it, she was skeptical, within her a mind racing, trying to untangle thoughts of whether she should continue her journey out there or turn back and travel through the forest.

Harks perked at a small spot that had just placed itself just above her horizon, eyes widening with excitement. She lifted her neck to try and get a better view, a single paw lifting as she searched. TWO! There were two spots, and they were moving!? Slowly but surely. Nostrils twitched as another breeze brushed her way. Yes! Wolves! Tail swished once and her ears pinned back for a mere second. This was the first time she'd seen wolves since she'd left her father's company. "I sure hope he's doing okay..." her mind couldn't help but wander.

And then, "Hey!" she barked loudly, her voice twinged with anxiety. This would certainly get their attention, she hoped. She would not move but a step or two here and there, just out of pure curiosity. Usually, she would keep quiet and to herself, but it had been so long since she'd seen another pair of wolves! With each moment she waited for a response she grew more and more anxious. "Oh possums!" She exclaimed quietly. It had totally slipped past her, what if these wolves were dangerous, or worse, what if they were hunting her?! Nevertheless, father taught her how to fend for herself. With her acute senses, powerful hindquarters and cunning wit, she could get herself out of any situation... or into one.

Neha Vuesain

While it was good to at last be so far away from that dreadful mountain, as Neha looked out towards the tundra, she couldn't help but feel the slightest pang of loneliness. It was a vast, wide open landscape with no prey in sight. Having lived on or around the mountain most of her life, dealing with this flattened terrain was a real first for her. Her brows pinched down slightly, the cogs in her head turning. There had to be prey out here. And other wolves as well. This couldn't just be a barren wasteland.

Her brothers question was enough to slow her to a halt, head tilted down as she considered their options. She had been living as a lone wolf for a while now, just as he had. Pack life had been okay, but she wasn't so sure she ever wanted to go back to it. "I'm not sure yet." She answered finally. "I think we should scout around just a little bit longer." She did not want to rule this place out too soon. That would be jumping the gun.

She had thought they had been alone. Apparently not. The distant cry of an unfamiliar voice came from the treeline. She snapped her head up, ears pinning back with uncertainty as her chocolate eyes narrowed, fixing on the grayish figure of a wolf. Her social skills had gone untested for so long, resulting in pacing back and forth in short, quick strides. Caught in indecision, Neha remained silent, eyes darting towards Aleister, who she hoped would take some sort of initiative.

caught in the crossfire

Unlike Neha, he wasn't going to miss the mountain. He grew up not missing the mountain, merely missing the family that lived upon it, but the courage to return was never instilled into the Vuesain male until it was too late. Al would miss his mother, as well as the memories he missed out on, though there was nothing he could do about it now besides try to make it up to his sister somehow. Make up for the years he was gone, seemed like an impossible task, but he had to do something or else the guilt would eat him alive.

Her head tilted to contemplate his question, her eyes avoiding him. Of course she didn't have a plan, instead suggesting they scout even more into the tundra that went on for miles. He knew there would be prey out in these lands. Prey lived everywhere, but the act of hunting them would be harder, more work. Techniques he wasn't accustomed to, but wherever Neha went he was going. Nodding in silent response, he moved to keep moving towards the open tundra until a loud "Hey" echoed towards the littermates.

Eyes and ears snapping towards the direction of the call, his dark agouti form moved to face the stranger and purposely in front of his sister. Like his sister, Aleister wasn't one for social calls, he kept to himself always the nomad. However with the darted glance from Neha, he knew he would have to deal with this. Though, he didn't have much to go off for conversation, so he muttered a simple response.

Hey.

Corona Fayre
Corona was never a shy one. She learned through actions more-so than observations. Her decision to speak up - to confront these two strangers was an action, and with actions there always come consequences...

Harks flicked above her crown, listening for a reply from her now fellow wolves of the land. As they inched closer, she couldn't help but steal a few paces herself, closing in the distance between them. It was always a good idea to take charge, however, sometimes having too much confidence can result in a confrontation. As the three of them began to inch closer, Corona began her observations.

Upon closer inspection, the two wolves were male and female, around the same age, familiar with each other... perhaps siblings? Mates? Nostrils huffed and flared as she took in their scent, along with the smells of everything they carried with them. Their scents were mixed with various types of terrain... they've been here longer than she has. Maybe they could accompany her? Or rather, perhaps she could accompany them! "Hey." the male had reciprocated her greeting, causing an uproar of emotions and questions she wished to relay to the two of them. Her attention was mostly on the male, however the attitude of the female seemed all too familiar to her. "Oh, uh, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to interrupt you two on your... adventure?" she spoke rather hesitantly, taking a couple of uneasy steps back after realizing she may have intruded upon them. This was her first encounter with other wolves since she'd left her former home, of course she felt a little... improper. Just as she had spoken, an all too familiar yet disgusting scent began to shroud them. "Ugh!" she huffed, their musky stench scorching her nasal cavities. "Coyotes!" she growled, harks pinning themselves to her tough crown. There were three wolves, four coyotes. Drawing a few quick options out in her head, the outcomes could vary - seeing she knew nothing of the physique and hunting patterns of these two newcomers, there weren't many looking into their favor. Rats!

OOC: Minor swearing

Slowly, she relaxed. She showed no signs of fleeing (for she was anything but a coward) or going on the offensive. A few sniffs told her that this female was a longer like them, fairly young, but new to the lay of the land. She shook her head, expression neutral but not unkind either. "Don't worry 'bout it. It's hardly an...adventure. We were just trying to track down some lunch is all." Their efforts thus far had proved fruitless. There wasn't anything out here.

Well, except pests. The stench of coyote tickled her nose and just as @Corona alerted, her brown eyes landed on their lanky shapes emerging from the very same treeline from which Corona had came. Their hackles were raised, tails lashing and teeth clicking. Three wolves against four coyotes? There was no way. Normally their cousins were little more than flighty pushovers, but this particular band was bold. "Shit. I don't like this...I say we get the hell outta dodge." She said as she backed up, while the quad of coyotes slowly slipped into formation, attempting to encircle the wolves for a mobbing.
