This creek seemed like a decent place to hold up for a couple days in order to recoup from his long journey before venturing further into these uncharted lands and by the looks of the nasty clouds above, it appeared they too implied their opinion that it was best to stay put a little longer. Here, he could scrounge up some fish from the creek and scavenge the kills of other forest inhabitants. The heavy scent of coyotes everywhere had an unnerving chill coursing up his spine, but one had to do what they must in order to survive. In his case, he had to piggy back on the hard work of others. It wasn't exactly easy to secure a wholesome meal when you were lucky to weigh a buck twenty soaking wet and stood a hair over the tallest overgrown bush. He was a mouse in a land of giants.
Any moment now those churning, dark clouds promised to release their contents upon the land below and Leumier had no intentions of being caught in the midst of their wrath with no proper form of shelter to hunker down in until the storm passed. The flashes of lightning and distant roll of thunder almost deterring the man from his current attempt at flinging a fish onto dry land for a mid afternoon snack, but the rain had yet to begin to fall thus he had some time yet.
A stone toss away from the shoreline Leumier waded in the slow flowing water, gaze peering down at the small schools of minnows that only recently they had nothing to fear from the sudden white pillars that invaded the watery domain. These wimpy fish would not do to sate the gnawing hunger snapping at his tummy. A subtle groan of frustration escaped his inky lips and to make matters worse the first pitter patter of raindrops began to filter from above. Small ripples where the drops touched the water's surface appearing all around him. Great.
