Pilea Ritter
For @Lauraceae

WARNING: Pilea posts often are full of curse.

Pilea, for the first time in a long while, was alone. She had spent the majority of her life as such, traveling from her home and all between the reaches of the world until she came here, only to leave again and return with this Carrion Crew she now roamed with. Her life was a boring one, an uneventful one. In her rage, hate, regret and sorrow, she had accomplished little in her life. She had no friends, had lost track of her family... But the bitter bitch had seen red for so many years she had grown numb to it. Survival was only on her mind now, which is what drove her now.

Finding food was not hard for the Carrion gang member. With a group so large for being roamers they would be considered a pack themselves, a pack of gypsies, tramps and thieves. It had taken her some pep-talk to pull her away from the side of the yearling boy she often followed in their group and out here to this part of the Wildwood, where many stumps and fallen tree were, charred from a fire long passed and leaving now tall grasses, mosses and fern. Surely some scurrying rodent was in the area in order to slate her hunger.

Is a forward date of July 8 for this thread ok for you?

Things were... good. Maybe he was still struggling, but somehow things were starting to go right for the young Ritter. Maybe they weren't ideal, but Laurel had abandoned the idea of anything being ideal a long time ago. Ideal would have been Quaking Vale, alive and thriving. It would have been his father offering him guidance, his foster mother's love, friends. It wasn't that and the boy firmly believed he would never get all of the things he wanted out of life; hell, he wouldn't get most of the things he wanted. He'd have to fight, and since accepting that fact, things were going well.

He walked low to the ground, keeping his pawsteps silent and tattered ears perked forward. He did this for a long time, sniffing at any small hole that looked like it might house a quick snack. Suddenly, he burst into life, leaping from the ground. His jaws snapped around something that made a quick cry of pain. Laurel's tail wagged happily, the large rabbit hanging limp from his jaws.

Though catching the rabbit wasn't the hard part. It was keeping it from coyotes. He glanced around for sight of them, but instead saw another wolf. The yearling growled at her in warning, tail curling under his belly as he stepped away from her. He could not have known that she had the eyes of a Ritter, or that they shared the same, zig-zag pattern across their backs.

Perfectly fine!

It was otherwise silent in this patch of open landscape as she moved through it until the sudden cry of prey caught her attention, causing her to whip around to face both prey and the predator which held it. In seconds it died and once the other wolf knew he had been spotted, quickly went about slinking away with his tail tucked. No such luck on his part. She was bigger by a long short and would have been so even if he was not underweight. It was obvious it had been in far too many fights recently and she felt confident enough she had the clear advantage here. Surely she was not as hungry as he yet she cared not. He was the weak link here and without any connection between them to hold her back, she charged after him. A large snarl echoed from her jaws as they opened, lunging for his back side and snapping. She did not aim to truly attack, not yet for she hoped this would be quick and easy. If she could get him to drop his kill she could take it and be on her way.

There is a deer carcass being picked over by three coyotes. They spot you and become territorial of their kill.

S for swears ahead.

Alright, maybe he'd spoken too soon about the whole things were going good shtick. Maybe things were just always awful and always would be, because at the bare minimum he would have thought that he could keep his meal. But nope, someone was always there to ruin his day, always looking to pick a fight with him. Did he have a sign over his head? Was everyone throughout Relic Lore whispering Hey, see that scrawny, near-dead kid? Beat him up! They must have been, because it felt weird that not one, not two, but three so far! Three wolves had taken it upon themselves to go out of their way and fight him. Maybe he should not have tried to steal @Vaken's scraps, or snapped terribly at @Birtie, but this? He was doing nothing! He was trying to eat!!

He had not expected her to react like she had, but was still quick to get out of the way. "It's mine!" his words were muffled, still firmly around the rabbit. Fuck this bitch. Fuck her and her stupid need to steal a scrawny kid's meal. Did no one around him have a heart!? Fighting for his meal was a little out of the question, so Laurel decided to take his chances running. It was doubtful he'd be able to get away fast enough, but he had to at least try.

She wouldn't give up easily even as he bolted off because when it came to fight or flight mode, running for it seemed the best option for him. Pilea's stamina was great, as far as she was concerned, though she seemed still no match for the pup who could not only run faster but could run faster, longer. She gave chase, snapping her teeth at his ankles but always seemed out of reach which caused a frustrated snarl to rumble from her lips and her snarl was answered, yet not by the young wolf. It was by three coyote, possessively guarding the remains of a deer they had killed.

Having been running straight into their direction, she finds herself skidding to a halt, abandoning the idea of stealing the rabbit from the scrawny wolf headed straight after them. "Ah, shit!" She spoke, her body stiffening as she displayed a defensive position, holding her ground for the time being but not pushing further.

He had not expected the larger woman to chase him, nor for her teeth to be only a hair away at times. Lauraceae pushed himself onwards, scrambling to get ahead and away. His prize would be a prize well won, and he'd have the whole rabbit to himself. The young boy eventually tripped over his feet, but instead of being met by a wolf's teeth, he saw three coyotes, all growling at him. One went for his rabbit and Laurel almost went to fight for it, but at last second decided to let them have it. His stomach loudly complained, but at the very least they were focused more on devouring the rabbit than him.

His face wrinkled in disgust, the coyotes happily yipping and enjoying his meal. He should not have expected any differently, they always seemed to be around one corner or another, ready to steal his hard earned food. "FUCK," he finally just shouted, paws stomping childishly on the ground as he walked away. "What the heck is wrong with you!?" he shot daggers at the gray female, snapping angrily at the air. "I worked hard for that! Don't you have any decency? Compassion!? Does no one in all of this fucking forest have a heart!?" he didn't believe that. @Adeltra had been kind to him, and so had @Moonshadow in his time of need. But now he was just angry, another decent meal robbed from him.

Quickly did the three coyote lunge for the closest victim, the young and thinned out loner with the rabbit. They squashed whatever idea he had to fight back for the rabbit and one of them took his food, retreating back to the group with now not only remains of a deer but a fresh rabbit to keep them strong and healthy. Pilea sneered and, had she known that her crew was anywhere near the area, would have called for them so not only would they have a deer and a rabbit to eat, but perhaps three coyote as well.

Whatever thought she had to was squashed just like the idea of Lauraceae eating had been as the young wolf whipped around to give her a piece of his mind on what had just happened. "I'm sure there is." She finally answered the battered up youth after his little spat out at her. "But ya won't find any with me." That, of course, was a bit of a lie. Well, maybe not when it came to the wolf before her, but whatever compassion, protectiveness, concern she had was only given to a few different youths as only a reminder of what she had lost so long ago. But he likely would never know any of that. "I lost all that a long time ago." She grumbled as she looked the boy over yet still, his heavily scarred body, some wounds still very fresh, his thin frame, his yellow eyes, the dark zig-zag marking draped over his shoulders...

Pilea's response wasn't the heated, angry, drown-out argument that he had wanted. Was something wrong with her? Wasn't she supposed to be a big, angry woman who stole candy from babies? (Rabbits from yearlings in this case, bu you get the idea.) She just agreed with him, a simple 'Yep, I'm awful, is what it is.' This took the wind out of the young Ritter's sails. He sighed heavily, watching as the coyotes finished off his meal and ran off. His stomach gave a loud groan of protest and finally, defeated, tired, still very hungry, he slunk to the ground. The woman didn't seem so keen on murdering him anymore, now that he had nothing to steal, so he felt at least safe enough to take a break. "Aren't you a Little Miss Ray Of Sunshine," he grumbled right back at her. He then was silent for a moment, and the older woman just.... weirdly stared at him. He wrinkled his face at her. "Are you done ruining my day yet?"

WARNING: Pilea posts often are full of curse.

He deflated, quickly, something which set little emotion off on Pilea. Hell, little did. Her heart, her passion, her compassion, her dreams and goals... They had all been gone long ago, smothered by hatred and revenge at first but her failure and the years which passed with it left her a rather empty wolf. At only just turning five, she was old and bitter in a way that perhaps someone much older then her should have been. Now it was only about surviving, about finding a means to go on day by day until those were finally gone. Sad, but true.

After his sigh then he slumped to the ground, turning away from the coyotes that devoured the remains of his food happily and content with this, made their way. If he no longer felt threatened by her with falling to the ground before her then he was right. Pilea was a mean woman, spiteful and bitter, but she was not evil and was not stupid, either. Being part of a constantly moving band of wolves with no territory and no healers there was no use risking injury over nothing. "No." She finally said then as she side shifted, moving around the wolf in an arc, more so to his back side so that she could view his markings more clearly. Surely there was other wolves out there with these markings, with yellow eyes. But call her close-minded if you will, she'd never seen any wolf with these markings and with those same eyes who wasn't equally a Ritter. "Who the fuck are you?"
