Bring the noise
Jenny was being naughty, again.
After her brief stint with the danger stick-otherwise known as a snake- Jenny was supposed to be on her best behaviour. Ma didn't like it when she wandered off, she'd said as much, but being told not to do something only made Jenny want to do it even more. She liked the Tarn well enough but being there day in day out with nothing ever changing was so so boring. She wanted to see the world and couldn't understand why the bigs weren't okay with that. She always came back home, so what was the problem?
In the early hours of the morning, Jenny began her ascent of the mountain. For any other pup it would have been difficult, no impossible to even dream of reaching the top! But Jenny was determined, powerful and made of stern stuff! If anyone could do it, it was her. Or at least that's what she thought.
As it turned out, mountain climbing was very hard work and not nearly as fun as she'd anticipated. Up on the mountains heights there was little to occupy her mind, all she could do was walk till her legs felt really heavy. Even stranger, Jenny had been walking up up up for most of the journey but now she realised that the ground was sloping down! How did that happen? Had she somehow got lost along the way?
Maybe. Or maybe this was her plan all along, who knew? Jenny certainly wasn't going to tell.
As if to give the little pup a respite, the ground flattened out as the sound of running water reached her ears. Yes! Lots of water for her to paddle in! The little Selwyn broke out into a grin as she toddled along, her tail swinging wildly behind her. Before, the veil would have been green and luscious, a haven for weary travellers. And it still was, sort of. The creek that ran through the veil was far more shallow than it had been before, as Jenny splished and splashed it barely reached her ankles. But she didn't care one bit, she was having fun and that's all that mattered in her eyes.
