Legolas Stark

His brows continued to pinch together, his forehead wrinkling as he struggled to make out the shape of the birbs in the trees. But they remained hidden by the thick canopy overhead, hiding just out of sight and upsetting the ivory boy. His frown was deep as he turned to the pale cloud, his navy pools growing wide as he silently pleaded with her to figure out a way to get the birbs out into the open. It did not take long for his prayers to be answered—she was quick to give a suggestion, almost as though she had heard his thoughts. They—him and the cloud—needed to sing in order for the birbs to make an appearance. Okay. Okay. He could do that. He could sing … right? His expression bunched up once more. S-sing? He asked softly as he gently nudged her paw with his own to encourage her to go first. Little Legolas was still learning how to sing; he did not want to mess up by going first and singing all wrong. She was a big; therefore, she was much more experienced than he was. She’d be able to lure the birbs out.

Anastasia grinned, certain that while Legolas was seeming to be a fragile young boy that she knew there was strength in him yet. Lachesis had been so fragile once upon a time but he certainly was not that now. Sure, she murmured quietly as she cleared her throat and lifted her head to look into the trees above. A thoughtless quiet brewing between them and their avians friends above as she quietly allowed her voice to crawl. A low but beautiful call that began a steady crescendo into the canopy above. Birds, no doubt, beginning to stir as they planned their escape. Once she reached a particularly higher note the birds began to rustle and a few began to leave their nests, fluttering across the sky for Legolas to spy.

His paws stomped excitedly (but softly) against the ground as she agreed to sing with him. He waited patiently, like a good boy, for her to start the song. His baby blues remained fixated on the canopy overhead as he tried to make out the shapes of the birds overhead. Anastasia’s voice weaved through the trees, cocooning the boy and encouraging him to offer his own voice to the song. He hesitated, mostly to enjoy her song as it serenaded the birds overhead, but also because he was uncertain of his own song. But howling, fortunately, was easier than speaking. There were no consonants or vowels to fight with. No syllables. Only when he noticed a few birds flitting across the sky did the boy pointed his slender nose to the sky and add his voice to the pale dove’s. It was not as loud, or magnificent, as hers but it would suffice in luring the birds from their nests …

… and it did. The birds began to dance across the sky. Some hopped from tree to tree while others ascended higher into the trees and disappeared into the abyss of leaves. It was perfect.

Anastasia Starklen

With her continued howl she began to see a few birds fidget around up in the canopy but even as she waited, she knew that the boy was preparing himself. It was hard as a child to come to terms with how little you could do compared to an adult but Anastasia was all about expressing what you do have. So when Legolas spoke up and let his voice be heard it was clear that it wasn't on an adult level quite yet but it was his own, which was certainly enough for her as well as the birds. They began to dance across the sky and while she imagined that there was some panic in their flight, it seemed flawless and precise. Their motions were known and calculated and as the last of them died off she peered to young Legolas with a proud smile upon her face. Glad to see the next generation - Lachesis' own - taking advantage of the beautiful things the world had to offer. fade
