For @Chan - Backdated to mid-February (You can put a more specific date on it if you like)

The weather was getting warmer, at least she thought so, maybe she was just imagining it. She was just dead tired of winter, freezing, wet paws, snow covering everything and not a hint of fresh green in sight. It was one of the things she had missed the most while living up north; Trees…! After all, she had grown up in a Thicket, however questionable that might seem, it meant she was used to being surrounded by bramble and birch trees, not to mention the many medical herbs that had filled their den from spring till the dead of winter, diligently gathered by her mother and sister. Of course, Aideen had diligently searched the tundra for plant life and studied these new medicines eagerly, but it had never been the same. Now though, her oldest daughter found herself surrounded by pine trees, with not a hint of fresh leaves in sight; How do you even know spring is coming up here?

This was a minor nitpick tough. In general, Flair quite liked the secluded valley around Lost Lake. The area was nicely sheltered, free of the harsh winds that otherwise ravaged the mountain. Food was surprisingly plentiful too, lots of other creatures taking advantage of the cover and plentiful water source. For the first time in a year, the fiery shewolf was putting on weight and her coat was lusher than ever; though still rather unkempt. Lying on a large stone, soaking up the last bit of afternoon sun while she looked out over the lake, Flair thought to herself that she was probably in the best place she’d ever been, physically and mentally. The lake wolves were nice, casual and clearly accepting of her less social nature, allowing her her space, yet always making her feel welcome. She rolled over, exposing her creamy belly to the warm rays while sighing contently, perhaps she had finally found a place to belong.

Chan Eastfall
Chan had woken not too long ago. When he set out from the den, passing Tagg's stone coffin with a solemn nod as he did every evening, his goal for the day was to continue his scouting through the forests around the lakeshore. While several viable options had been found, the wolves had yet to settle on any one as a group, and therefor he would keep searching. Not too long into this mission, however, Chan spotted his citrus-colored friend, and she looked far too comfy for him to resist joining.

Without much warning other than a woof several yards out, Chan leapt onto the rock and promptly threw himself down next to her. He rolled onto his back and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath then letting it go. It was one of those days where you could feel Spring in the air, or at least the seasoned mountaineer could. He couldn't wait until everything came back to life and travel was at it's easiest once more...

She’d just started to drift off when a familiar voice called her back to reality. On russet ear turned in the direction of the call, but other than that she didn’t react, far too comfortable in her ray of sun to get up. Had it been anyone else, she might have raised her head, showing some semblance of politeness, but with Chan, she knew she didn’t have to. It felt nice to know.

When the large body landed next to her, she opened one amber eye ajar, watching as he plopped down next to her, taking up most of the remaining space. A half-smile curled her mouth, seeing him take up a similar position to her own and sighing with apparent satisfaction. She closed her eyes again, enjoying a few moments of peace, comfortable in simply sharing the moment quietly. Then she yawned, rolling onto her side to face him; “Y’know, this was my personal sunnin’ rock.” Her voice was lazy, brows raised as she looked at him in mock-accusation. Truly, she didn’t mind the company, but she was in the mood to tease.

Flair had certainly found herself a lovely spot. The sun soaked down through his fur into his skin, relaxing his muscles and warming his bones. He could have easily fallen back asleep, side by side with the redhead, at least until the light went and night's chill woke him, demanding he get back to work. Before he could, he felt her shift next to him, and Chan opened one eye to meet the other's gaze.

Her expression made him laugh, and he stretched his legs up into the air until they popped before rolling over onto his own side.

"Eh, do something about it then," he teased back, giving her shoulder a gentle, playful push.

His laughter was infectious, and Flair couldn’t keep a smile from slipping onto her face, tail swishing back and forth over the rock cheerfully. She felt surprisingly relaxed in the tawny boy’s company, happy even, able to joke and play without any anxiety. Really, this was starting to be true with most of the lake wolves, even if she still got claustrophobic in groups, but Chan especially had a way of making her feel at ease.

So, when he shot back at her tease, she didn’t hesitate - in on the joke for just about the first time of her life! “Oh-ho-ho,” she answered loftily, brows now raised comically high; ”So that’s how it’s gonna be?” She stretched out a leg, returning his nudge by straining her paw against his shoulder, pushing slowly, harder and harder. He had a good deal of both size and weight on her, but she was stronger than one might think, and not about to back down; “Watch me!”

Chan Eastfall
Chan's brow knit with determination, long teeth poking out of a devilish smile as she retaliated. With the challenge accepted, there was nothing more to say. His muscles flexed and locked, bracing against her gradually-strengthening effort. Chan turned into the pressure, trying to upright himself back onto his stomach without giving her a chance to roll him right off the stone. If successful, he would flatten down and more or less hug the boulder in order to stay put.

Either way, his dual-colored eyes would seek to lock with her's and silently communicate 'bring it on, do your worst,' while his tail whipped back and forth across the divoted surface with impish glee.

It was a battle of will as much as strength - or perhaps that was just was she told herself as she felt the full heft of Chan leaning into her leg. Grunting with determination, Flair lifted another leg to support the first, leaning into the boy’s shoulder with her full weight. But to her dismay, Chan too was doubling down using his larger size to his full advantage.

Their eyes locked as he pushed through, forcing her legs to bend against her best efforts, and rolling triumphantly onto his stomach. An annoyed snarl escaped her, the tip of her tail oscillating like a vexed cat, but the gleam in her eyes was pure joy; the same, childish glee she had felt as a pup, brawling with her brother. And just like back then, she didn’t hesitate to reengage, barring her teeth as she dug her muzzle into his flank, jabbing at his ribs to try and make him loosen his grip. Determined to pry him off the rock, no matter what.

Chan Eastfall
Aha! Chan's grin flourished as success found him. He flexed his paws, gripping the stone's surface as best as he could given the anatomy that he had to work with. Total victory appeared to be within sight at that point, the tables turned considerably, until--

Her nose poked and prodded against his ribs, causing his body to reactively writhe and squirm away from the touch. It tickled, and soon he was laughing out loud, paws pushing impotently at her neck and shoulders to try and shove her away. The laughter weakened him considerably, and then all at once his weight shifted too far back and he was dropping through the air. His tawny form hit the wet snow with an audible plop.

"Noooo!"

Some might call it fighting dirty, but she’d never made such distinctions. Her nose jabbed relentlessly, smile growing wider and wider as her victim squirmed, tail waving like a triumphant banner behind her. Usually being the smaller combatant, Flair had learned early on how tickling could render even the largest opponent defenceless, and Chan was no different. She hardly even felt the slaps of his paws, only jerking her head aside briefly now and then, before going back in.

His laughter filled the air all around her, seeming to echo despite there being nothing but open space in every direction. It was so infectious, she had to stifle her own giggles to ensure her victory. But finally, he gave way, sliding backwards off the rock and into the snow below. Flair yowled in her victory, bounding to the edge of the boulder to look down upon her victim, at last giving in to her own penned up laughter. She almost fell of the rock herself, doubling over in loud, ecstatic barks and it took several moments before she could manage to get out any words.

Her winning speech, such, was slightly undercut by the laughing still bubbling out between words: “There! Maybe that’ll… teach ya… am’ not t’… be trifled with!”
