The tall, spacious cedar forest was a change of pace after the willows. She was not used to these northern winters, but this place was both open and sheltered, and the warm scent of cedar made the winter air seem that much more welcoming.

It had been worth a try to live there with the Archer clan, Lana had rather foolishly thought, but soon enough she found herself adrift again. Perhaps she would find her way back to the willow wolves in time, perhaps not. What did it matter? She could not say she minded much, the tricolor woman had grown used to cutting ties as easily as she made them. But winter was on the land now, and she felt the need to find others of her kind, if only to make survival a little easier. A little less dull.

She found a rabbit instead, and decided not to question her fortune as she set off on its heels. Her jaws closed on it mere feet from its hidey-hole, and Lana's breath steamed around her muzzle as she picked it up and glanced around. The dying squeal it let out would alert anyone nearby, if they'd not already noticed her. She should make as quick of work of the meal as she could, finding it not worth bothering to build caches when she would be rather be travelling light. Easy come, easy go, as they said.

Rye had decided to head north, away from the willows and into apparently yet another forest. She had skirted west of a strongly-scented pack border as she was not feeling up to tangling with any pack wolves that day. But her stomach rumbled with hunger, and she licked her lips as she moved through the forest, alert for signs of life in this wintery hell hole that she could snack on.

A squeal not too far away had her freezing momentarily. That was definitely a death squeal, and one she was all too familiar with. Deciding that stealing a meal from another wolf would be far easier than catching one herself, Rye moved towards the sound hungrily, already feeling her mouth begin to salivate at the thought of food.

There was another wolf right up ahead, looking like a worried prey trying to hide away from any predators. Oh, and a predator she could be. She wanted the rabbit the other woman was carrying. With a definite weight and size advantage over the stranger Rye felt comfortable in asserting herself into the situation. But why risk getting injured in a scrap when she could just intimidate the woman into handing it over?

"Be a darl and give me the rabbit, and we won't have any problems," she drawled out, baring her teeth in an all-too-sweet smile that didn't reach her eyes, which had become narrowed. Her tail raised high in the air behind her as she stood up to her full height, urging the woman to choose the sensible option in this predicament.

Squabbling over a rabbit, what a drag. Life was more interesting when the interactions went beyond the bare minimum of impulses, in her opinion. If only she'd run into someone less hostile, but so be it. Lantana's gaze narrowed, her sepia was not as sharp sharp as the other young woman's striking gold but, they sized her up all the same. Size was definitely on the other's side, for one thing, but Lana wasn't ready to throw in the towel quite yet.

"Be your darling? Sure thing," she hoped the capitulating words were enough to put the volatile stranger in a slightly more malleable mood, along with a wink as she spoke around the neck of her catch. "But we've only just met, let's chat over lunch?" Nonetheless she thought it might be wise to have a backup plan. Her jaw tightened again. The rabbit gave a final twitch.

She simply stared at the other woman, teeth still bared in a smile, not quite sure how to react to the response and wink. If she didn't know any better, Rye would think she was stalling in order to scamper off out of reach.

Chat? Over a shared lunch? What a horrendous idea. She didn't share. A rabbit was barely a meal for one wolf, let alone enough to satiate any sort of hunger for two. No, she wouldn't entertain it even the slightest, but the attempt at diffusing the situation gave her some form of satisfaction.

After a few quiet moments Rye finally let out a bark of amusement, canting her head to the side as the smile on her face widened into a grin. "You're funny, I'll give ya that." But being funny wasn't enough to distract her from the fact that she was hungry and wanted that rabbit.

"Which is why I'm giving you one chance to give it to me." Rye accentuated her words with a snap of her jaws, a hyena-like laugh bubbling forth from her mouth. If the woman decided to run she'd gladly take chase. Hunting a rabbit was mediocre, but hunting a wolf? Now that's where the real fun could be found.

Lana didn't think her lunch date was much in the mood to chat or share useful information at all, which was a shame. She carried the dull scent of others about her, which was at least something of note though none of the aromas meant a thing to the traveler.

She could fight for the rabbit, but it wasn't really worth it, especially with an opponent who looked bigger, stronger, and meaner. Lana exuded a rather dramatic sigh around her short-lived gains. She wasn't exactly happy about losing out here today, but she knew when to fold, and she was clearly holding the losing hand here.

"Fine, have it your way," she winked. "If you want a treat you'll have to do a little trick for me,"

She gave a swing of her head, tossing the rabbit over to the left with as much distance as she could manage. "Fetch!" she called out before high-tailing it in the opposite direction. She wasn't about to hang around and wait for the larger woman to finish her meal and get bored.

Lana will exit this round unless she is pursued or someone else arrives

Rye's gaze was focused completely on the other woman, staring unblinkingly at her and the rabbit. She was almost beginning to salivate just at the thought of ripping into it, or the female if she decided it was worth scrapping over it. Rye didn't care either way, as long as she got what she wanted.

Her eyes narrowed at the woman's antics, for a moment unsure of what was about to happen and immediately feeling on edge, but it seemed her intimidation did the trick, albeit with a stranger response than she had been anticipating. A soft purr rumbled from Rye's throat at the woman, lips curling up in another smile. But as soon as the rabbit was thrown to the side she pounced on it, placing a front paw firmly upon at as she merely glanced at where the woman was running off.

She watched her escape with an amused expression, eyes glittering with devilish thoughts. The woman seemed fun, and knew when she was beaten. Rye wouldn't be opposed to running into her again.

With her prize now all to herself, she picked it up and skittered off to find somewhere private to eat it in peace, lest a third lone wolf come pestering her for a bite. Now that would just be unfair.
