Before first light, the shadow had risen before first light that morning, to make his way to the area he hoped would become the permanent home for himself and the others. And as the sun had risen, he had taken one more look through the little canyon housing the falls, and the forest surrounding it. He was sure, now. It was time to get their opinion on it, to know what they thought. If this could be home. Jet had waited long enough to do that.

With the sun just about at its full height, the dark one returned to the mouth of the small valley and seated himself outside of it. Then he tipped his head back, issuing a summons for all of those residing near the lake to meet him. Some of whom he’d known for a while, others he’d only gotten to know more recently.

But they were all important to him. Jethro cared for them all. The youth, especially. And he hoped they’d agree that this could be home, too.

calls for everyone that’s been living near Turtleback! Jet wants to show them their possible new home. et.

Flair had spent the morning patrolling the great woods. She’d become fiercely protective of the lands surrounding Turtleback Lake, keeping track of anyone coming and going and making sure the members of their would-be pack were still hanging around. While they were yet to establish official borders, she still thought of the others as her pack mates and, if she was gonna be their leader, she would put all her energy into keeping them safe.

As noon approached, the fiery woman paused her rounds to rest by the water, having just finished a long drink when Jethro’s voice reached her. Ears perked, her head lifting to the sky as she looked in direction of the call, brows lifting curiously. Jet had mentioned he might have found a place, but he hadn’t been ready to show it off yet; Guess it’s time…?

Shifting between a light lope and quick trot, Flair made her way back into the depths of the Kingswood, easily making her way between the towering trunks. It took a bit of time, sunlight shifting through the conifers above as the forest floor slowly became more uneven. Finally, she spotted the dark shape up ahead, seated next to the mouth of a wide canyon. Coming to a halt in front of him, she offered Jethro a crooked grin, tail swaying high behind her. Slightly winded from her trip, but still in good spirit, she asked: “So, this it?”

Siyet Crym
Siyet had been traveling with Jet for a while and there was talks of settling down for a while. Jethro had mentioned that he had finally found a suitable place for them to live. This had made Siyet feel bubbly inside as her and Jethro had agreed on a lot of new things lately, and a new home was something that would more or less, tie everything together.

When he called, Siyet wasn't too far away. She got up from a nap she was having and stretched and embraced the warm sun. She followed the call and eventually found Jethro and Flair.

She looked around and the location and though that it seemed like a wonderful place. This place, where they could live, share with others, and create something new and wonderful. Siyet was optimistic as she smiled.

Ryder Lennox
Ryder never much minded following after Jethro. The guy was pretty cool in his book, and rarely ever wasted his time unlike some of the others. When he heard this particular summons, he'd been running his laps upon Turtleback's shores and it took some time before he could make his way to the howl's origin point. They were a scattered bunch, and that was what the boy was used to.

When Jet came into view, accompanied by the equally-familiar Flair and Siyet, a bright grin broke out across the boy's usually flatlined lips. It was gone by the time he'd sprinted to the man's side, but the twinkle in his gray eyes wasn't and his tail beat the air at his hocks. He nuzzled into his sooty chest to silently say hello, and then let himself be distracted by the shine of water behind the older wolf.

"Oh cool," he murmured to himself, drifting past Jethro and toward the natural feature.

Reika Archer
Reika was out doing some hunting for the group in hopes of finding something that would feed them all. She'd been hard at work when Jethro's voice reached her ears. The Archer girl had an idea of what this call might mean. The dark male had shared his thoughts with her recently and she'd shared hers as well. She thought that perhaps it was time to share them with the whole group.

The Ghost left her task behind to go akd join up with everyone else. She wondered what their reactions would be if this was in fact the reason for the call.

When she finally reached the canyon and place that she'd discussed with Jethro before she found a few members of their group. Flair, Siyet, and one of the pups, Ryder had beaten her. She smiled to each of them. "Is it time?" She asked Jethro as she stopped in front of him.

Sorry friends! I never got the tag for this for some reason, tagging @Caspian in case winter didn't either

The Lennox woman was one of the last to arrive after Jethro’s call had gone out, though as she arrived she noted Caspian was also still not here. Wagging her tail a few times in apology for being delayed, the wolf quickly fell into place and settled down a few feet away from her son that had beaten her there. Before she was fully settled she let out a short call of her own, urging the younger boy to be quick in his travels to get to them.

She herself had been as far as she could have been from the group while still hearing Jethro’s howl. Fall was halfway through with them and before they all knew it winter would have them in its icy claws. Finley was doing what she could to prepare herself, and the boys, for what was sure to be a doozy after the dry summer they had had, but there was never enough time.

Taking the quiet moment as a chance to look around, the green eyes lingered on the falls they had gathered around. The high rocky walls would provide good cover from the howling winds, though only time would tell how much snow would gather at the bottom of the small ravine. This must have been the place that Jethro had been searching for.

Caspian
Cas was used to spending his days 'sploring, or hanging out around the lake, but today the youth's usual routine was upended by a summons to join the others. It took him some time to find them all, having got a bit lost in his own adventures. But this was something different all together, he could tell right away.

The wide-eyed lad trailed in some time after Ryder and Finley, instantly becoming swept up in the moment. He take in everything that was going on, his tail wagging uncertainly. Water poured from the walls, echoing and amplifying the water-music and the voices of those gathered. He didn't quite understand what was going on, but they were doing something new, and it felt momentous. The boy was simply excited to be a part of it.

He didn't recognize everyone who joined them by sight, but their scents were familiar to the boy who'd enjoyed roaming the lakeshores since his arrival here in his earliest days. Mom was there, and Ry, and Finley and oh hey, it was Flair! He flashed her a grin. Then Cas sought his mother's side like a magnet.

The waterfalls were cool, but Cas was far more excited by the idea of so many wolves in one place. More at ease beside Finley at last, he could take it all in a bit better. When the moment felt right, he let out a yipping squeal, his rather childish attempt at a howl. He had very little idea what this would mean for them, but he was on board!

-hey all, thanks for joining! since some of us are pretty busy for the holidays (myself included) I'm thinking we can end after this round once everyone's posted again, unless any character's got questions or things they'd like to say to the group. If so, Jet can stick around to address and answer individual questions if there are any. If not, feel free to exit/fade at your discretion.
Thanks again everyone c:

Flair emerged from the majestic forest first, her brightly colored coat giving her away at a distance. The grin she offered was returned, and the dark one rose to greet the other with a soft head bump. Her question though was met with a small shrug. ”We’ll see,” was all he’d offer for now.

Siyet appeared next, and Jet offered her a smile and a nod when their eyes met. Ryder surged forth after that, the energetic young fellow offering a greeting that was returned, before he ventured off to look around. Reika, Finley, and finally Caspian were the last to arrive, with only Reika offering a short, verbal inquiry.

Something he only smiled to initially, as the others filtered in and took their places. And though it was a change, to be the one doing the summoning instead of responding to a summons, the nerves and worries he’d thought would be there, weren’t. And once the adults at least, had arrived and situated themselves, Jet didn’t wait a moment before starting.

”Hey everyone, not gonna keep you waitin’, or take up too much of your time. Am sure you’re all aware that winter’s comin’, and it’ll be here fast. With that, I’m also sure y’all know we need a set spot to call home. I’d like to submit this place for your consideration,” the dark one offered, pausing to take a breath and cast a quick glance back over his shoulders at the ravine that awaited.

”If you need to, take your time, look around, explore, and let Flair or I know what ya think. I like it here, but we’re a group, so where we live is a decision we should all make together.” That was how it should be, anyway. He’d already heard the opinions of a couple of the others, but if they’d changed their minds, or a majority of them preferred to reside elsewhere, they could keep looking.

Seconding what Molo said <3 And no need to stick to posting order from here on.

Her grin shifted into a crooked, close-lipped smile at Jethro’s answer, one brow lifting pointedly as she pulled back after returning his physical greeting. While he didn’t beat around the bush when it came to the practical stuff, it was becoming clear to Flair that her future co-lead preferred to keep his feelings close to the fur, much like herself. She wasn’t fooled though; he was as excited by the prospects of this place as she was.

Taking a position next to the dark man, they didn’t have to wait long for the rest of their comrades to appear, Siyet being the first. Like Jet, Flair offered the pale woman a nod in welcome, accompanied by a friendly smile, which grew wider as Ryder joined them. Finley’s first son seemed to have taken a particular shine to Jethro - as the only male in their company, that was no big surprise – and as he passed Flair on his way to greet the man, she gave his shoulder a friendly nudge. Reika earned another nod and genuine smile in return for her own, though her question was left for Jetro to answer when he saw fit, as he had made the call.

Next was Finley, quietly composed as always, quickly followed by her second son. Flair’s tail wagged encouragingly as she gave the mother a welcoming nod then returned Caspian’s grin with sparkling eyes – both boys were clearly excited by the falls, earning it another plus in the fiery woman’s book.

With everyone now present, Jethro addressed the group, asking for their opinion on the territory as well as any other concerns they might have. Once he finished, Flair nodded her agreement before adding: “Y’ve already shown y’ dedication t’ this little band of ours, and we know we can all work t’gether. Jet n’ I wanna thank you for that and offer y’ the safety of borders an’ caches, if y’ll let us.” That seemed the right way to put it, they were essentially a pack already, but she didn’t want to assume anything, or take away anyone’s choice – not just of their future territory, but their leadership as well. Looking over to meet Jethro’s eyes, she nodded again, hoping he agreed with her words. She would wait for them to respond, and give their opinion on the gorge as a home, then later make her own inspections, to make doubly sure, but it seemed as good a fit as they could ask for.

Ryder Lennox
The other's voices were only faintly heard as he wandered. The glitter of water drew him in like a moth to light, his pale tail wagging behind him as he drifted closer. Just before reaching the edge, Jethro amplified his voice in a way that caught the wandering boy's attention. His ears lifted and he listened attentively, but was not yet swayed to cease his exploration of the landmark. His blonde paws pulled him up onto the rock shelf that held the lowest level of the falls, onyx nose wriggling to collect all the scents it could.

'... we need a set spot to call home,' the man proclaimed, and Ryder finally paused.

'I’d like to submit this place for your consideration.'

He looked over the feature once more, now with different eyes. They were talking about living here? The boy turned and jogged back to Jethro's side as Flair's voice now addressed them.

Who wanted borders anyways?

"We're leaving the lake? Why?"
