A good student asked questions, so like a good teacher Mona graciously answered. "Here, you can stand up if you start to sink," she said. "Don't breathe in the water or you'll drown. Once you got the hang of it we can go further out." She had no doubt Feyre would be able to swim in no time - just not enough time to beat Mona at her game. No way Mona would let anyone else get across the lake before her!
When Feyre finally struck out, she swerved around. Mona couldn't help a small snort of amusement. "Well, you didn't sink," she said. "You're not pushing evenly with all four paws. Try again, like this." Mona swam back the way they'd come, stopping around the same place they'd started. "It's a little harder when you have to scrunch up, so we can go deeper when you think you can stay up."
That, and deeper was more fun.
