some fairy tales are more than true

Sage stepped softly on the ground, her paws pressing into the snow so delicately that they almost left no indentation. Her nose swept across inches above the cold forest floor. Blonde ears pressed forward, her expressive eyes full of curiosity. Her tale hung limp between her gangly yearling legs. She walked slowly as if trying not to miss a single thing in her new home. She wanted to learn the layout, the various scents of her packmates, what flowers grew in their territory and where, and whatever else the Backwater had to offer her.

In stark contrast to her subtle, calm, outwardly appearance the girl's mind reeled with questions. Would she belong here? How would she contribute to the pack? Would they even like her? She couldn't help but play over how her acceptance into their ranks had gone. It was not the happy reunion she'd hoped for her new friends. Instead, it had been bittersweet and laced with heartache. The grief-stricken cries of Eros's brother echoed in her mind. She shook her pelt to try and relieve the internal tension she felt. Sage couldn't help the insecurities that her timing to join during a time of loss would affect her ability to fit in. Don't be so selfish.

Dead Empress Backwater III. Medic
Clover Assana
Clover hadn't had a chance to properly introduce their newest member to the pack what with everything that had happened. To be honest she couldn't even remember catching the girl's name, and felt as if she needed to rectify that fact as quickly as she could.

Once the most important daily tasks were completed she set out to find the girl, eventually coming across her scent trail and following it with brisk steps. There was no telling when something else would need her attention, but she did want to take as much time as she could to properly talk to the girl and give her a deserved welcoming to the pack.

She came across the girl - nose to the ground and slowly walking in no determinant direction - and let out a soft bark to announce her presence. "Hello again. I hope you don't mind the intrusion, but I wanted to take some time and properly welcome you to the Backwater seeing as yesterday didn't quite go to plan."

Clover offered a warm smile to the girl. "I apologise, but I don't believe I caught your name?"

The wolf's head swiveled in surprise at the bark, ears alert and tail instinctively wagging. She smiled softly and lowered herself into a more submissive stance. She nodded at the words, not quite sure how to respond, "H-hello." Her voice was tender and shaky. "Of course not, thank you." She whispered meekly.

Sage thought for a moment, questioning if she'd even gotten this woman's name or rank. She was clearly of importance and status to have welcomed them in. Likely an alpha, but where was her mate? The girl wouldn't impose but she was curious to learn about her new pack. "'m Sarge Hervok, ma'am." She paused, "I'm sorry if you told me your name, I don't remember it." She looked away bashfully at the confession.

The yearling felt she'd spoken a lot already compared to what was usual for just meeting someone. Was she being too much? Annoying perhaps? She quietly swayed from front paw to front paw nervously wiggling her toes."She speaks" She walks She thinks
