Sanguine Cove Never a dull moment

It was good to be back home in the cove with her family. Star had missed them very much and had been upset with her sister for dragging her off. Now that they were back she wasn't so angry anymore. Winter was still just as fierce as it had been and she thought it seemed colder on the mountain. The communal den was nice and warm though since a few others had joined in her absence.

The Vuesain girl had come down the lake for a drink. Everything seemed just as she remembered except for down the shoreline was a very odd shape that she didn't remember being there before. It was probably a very bad idea but her curiosity got the better of her. Star couldn't help but go to investigate.

As she came closer though a very strong smell seemed to be coming from the small mountain shaped thing. She couldn't even describe what the smell was besides stinky. What was this thing that she was jow standing next to. Star hadn't ever seen anything like it.

She didn't sleep as much these days, finding it more restful to be on her feet. With the missing pups found, she had eased her patrols and been sticking close to home in case of any trouble. And so this morning found Stella walking along the lake shore, as she so often did. She could see the cairnstones above the lake from here, which brought her a small sense of peace.

Today, the shore had been encrusted with ice even more than usual, and as she felt the wind off the lake biting into her fur, she shivered slightly.

Coming around a bend in the rocky shoreline, her eyes fell upon a series of wave-like mounds in the shore ice, along the frozen shore up until one particularly conical ice formation. As strange as it was to see, she was more surprised to see Star approaching it.

Suddenly alarmed, Stella hurried her steps, calling out to the younger girl. Stella didn't know what they were dealing with, but the unfamiliar made her wary where her family was concerned, especially her little sister - they'd only just found each other again! The wind threw her voice back at her as she broke into a run, even as unbeknownst to her the same wind began to drive the waves of water ashore and build the would-be volcano toward a watery eruption.

Star wasn't sure what she should do about this new discovery. Should she investigate it further or go and tell her mother about it? Was it something dangerous. As she approached the smell became worse but she wanted to know more. Was her pack in danger from this thing? All these questions drove the need that she had to make sure that this wasn't something that was going to hurt her family and pack. She couldn't let fear keep her from protecting them.

Star had no idea that her sister had discovered her and the formation. The wind was so strong it ruffled her fur. Her ears caught the sound of the water behind her. She didn't let that distract her as she got closer and closet to the mountain like structure.

What would her family think about it once she told them? Would they even believe that she'd found this strange thing. Out of the corner of her eye she coukd see the waves of the lake growing. It drew her attention away long enough that she saw Stella running toward her. "Look what I've found Stella," she called out trying to be heard over the wind.

Stel slowed her steps and called out to Star, hoping that she might be excited to come closer and share in her discovery. She did not want to discourage her, or scare her. But she would feel much, much better if she'd come down here! She let out a bark against the wind, calling out the name. "Star!"

Stella had to give a grin, despite her worries. It really was quite the discovery. She'd never seen anything like this. Her little sister was certainly a true Vuesain, as intrepid as any before her.

The strange ice put her on edge, though. What had caused it? Was it stable, or perhaps dangerous? The yearling had to admit that she herself would have been far more keen to explore it if she didn't have to see her little sister up there where she didn't know it was safe to be. So much had gone wrong lately, was she just being paranoid? Or was safe better than sorry?

Star considered the possibilities of this discovery she'd made. Having no idea what it was she didn't know if she would even be able to tell anyone about it. Had the others ever seen anything like this? It was a question that stayed in her mind as she continued to investigate. The winds seemed to be picking up around her but that didn't deter the young Vuesain. She had a duty to gather as much information as she coukd hefore going to tell the others.

She knew they might have just as many questions as she did so she needed to get as many answers as she could. Star continued to creep around the strange formation her nose looking for the answer's she needed. Her name hadn't been heard through the wind that was ruffling the fur across her back and down her sides.

Though by some chance moment Star happened to look up as she wondered if any of the others had come. There she saw her sister looking...she wasn't really sure how to describe the look on Stella's face. "Stella come look what I found," she called across the shore trying to be heard over the sound of the wind.
