Diantha Vuesain
Discovery of the Wishing Pool! For @Magg and @Adora

Di was mostly over her fear of leaving the territory - now she just had to take this final step of proving she was big enough to be a full member of the pack. Nobody said she had to do it alone, though! She wasn't about to ask Galen or Matos, who had just returned from their own unfortunate misadventures. She'd liked exploring with Adora, so she she asked her and she'd been so excited they decided to go invite Magg, too. The Eastfall-Slayer child had been just as excited and, pepped up, the trio had slipped from the Cove's borders and headed around the lake towards the old territory.

Di had always been curious about the place her dad was born, and where he and her grandmother were now buried. She knew Magg's grandpa was buried there too; maybe they could find them and visit.

About halfway around the lake Di stopped. "Do you hear that?" she asked. She thought she could hear rushing water, but there were no rivers up here - right?

if any assumptions aren't okay, pls tap me!

Adora had become every bit of a social butterfly between the two other girls. Often times she offered starry eyes and praise to the brave Magg. Then she offered giggles and pep-talks to Di, of course! How wonderful it seemed to have the two best wolves ever here with her! They both wanted her here too!

She had been pointing out a high point further down the mountain to Magg when Di asked a question for them. So Adora made sure to hush her own voice for the moment. Despite how much she wanted to chat away with the two girls. Hmm... A throaty hum that was drawn out as she looked around. Kinda? What do you think it is? Because Adora thought of whimsical things for their adventure. Not that it was just water trickling somewhere...

Magg looked back over her shoulder, having been all but hanging over the edge of their path to spot what Adora'd been talking about. Like her Macieo friend she focused on her own listening to catch whatever Di was trying to point out.

"Nope," she answered confidently, but Adora had so apparently she was missing something. She bounded to Diantha and then listened again, and just faintly caught onto the whispering sound. Water! That was always a good thing, right?

"Follow it!" she encouraged, giving Di a nudge forward. It was her discovery, she should lead the way!

Between the excited chattering of her friends and the crunch of snow, it took a moment for Di to pinpoint where the nose was coming from. She glanced at her cousin. "Hmmm," she mused, a twinkle in her eye, "maybe it's a secret hiding place!" She barely needed Magg's encouragement to turn and lead the way up the slope, breaking a pathway in the chest-deep snow. Her ears flicked back in annoyance, but she pressed on, trying to keep listening for the sound. It grew louder - they were headed the right way.

"What do you want to find?" she asked her friends over her shoulder as she walked. Her mind was racing with all the possibilities. Whatever it was, maybe it could be their secret fortress, just for the three of them to hide away from Mona and the boys. Maybe even Star and Feyre when they got back - because it was a when, for Di. She couldn't afford to think otherwise.

Finally the snow fell away and they were left with a mostly-clear path between the tight trees, the rushing water loud now. As Di rounded a small bend she stopped, mouth open wide at what was before her. A small waterfall trickled through a tunnel of ice into a small pool below, frozen only around the edges. "Whoa!" she breathed.

Adora felt content when the three of them took off to discover it. Di seemed the most attentive to the sound between the three of them, which made her the perfect leader for this!

Mmm, I wanna find...a snack! She laughed softly, girlish delight welled in her. She knew how comical it would sound! The whole world to discover and growing Adora could only think of where they might get their next meal at. It was not easy being a growing girl!

Yet there was no snack awaiting them. Which was terrible, but more wonderful, really. A strange water feature had seemed to come to be here. Just for them, surely! They must have been the first ones ever to see this!

Adora could only loudly gasp.

Di! Magg!! Could they believe it?!

Magg had an easier time of it, aiming each bounding leap to place her in the spots Diantha was clearing with her own relatively-large frame. No part of her minded allowing the Vuesain girl to do the lion's share of the work. The ideas her friends conjured into the air were exciting; she hoped they found a hideaway and some food! She giggled happily.

Only when Di froze did she bound around her, eager to see what had awed her so. It was easier to understand why the trickling had sounded so musical, and while the other two had paused Magg continued forward. She tried to get as close to the frozen falls as she could, trying to peer around and inside it. She wanted to investigate, to touch and maybe even taste the ice formation, but it was looking like she would need to get wet to do so...

Of course Adora wanted food, but even as Di rolled her eyes she couldn't find it in herself to disagree. A snack would be nice! Some fresh food, too, would be an even better treat! But instead it was the waterfall, and its beauty was enough to turn the young Vuesain's mind from her stomach and back to the adventure before her. Her companions also seemed awed as they peered around her, but only Magg dared venture further into the little clearing around the pool.

Di watched her in concern. She'd grown up around the like too, and knew the dangers of the water. She wouldn't go out onto the fragile ice crusting the shores, would she?

Approaching the ice seemed...unwise?

Yet Adora had not lived around these things very long and she basically assumed that Magg (and Di) knew everything about the mountains. Even if only by a birthright.

Still she felt that squiggly feeling build in her gut of not good and found it within her to speak up. Granted it was more like mewl her words, rather than truly speaking.

"Is...is getting closer a good idea?"

Nervously her gaze bounced between the two girls. Part of her wished she had asked more questions before now, or that her mother was close to ask even! Although there was also the sense that this would be the cool thing to do. Just the three of them exploring with no adults.

Still her gut clenched.
