RE: A mysterious fog rolls over Relic Lore.

Were the lands always this way in the north where the trees had reached high?

This time she had not plunged into them but skirted around them where she thought she caught the edges of icy water. Granted she had no way of knowing that this placed had usually held such fog in the morning hours. All she thought of was the way she had met @Marigold and how it had opened a door for her, in a way. She had gleamed some knowledge and moved on with purpose still.

There was no same in how she had returned north though. Not when she ventured new places in the morning fog. It was a dangerous thing she dared to do, but the land had become a snowy labyrinth between the protection of stones. Would another ghost come to greet her?

Once more deer led her to a foreign scent, but now it was easily recognized. Siv. Mar watched from the treeline as the herd collected at the lake's edge, breaking ice with heavy hooves and snuffling the water that bubbled up in turns. Several always held their heads high, watchful of their surroundings, ears twitching as they rotated back and forth. When certain as she could be that they were settling in a moment, Marigold left her post.

She stayed within the forest's shadows while moving, stopping now and then to survey. Her nose never stopped working, following the trail that the other had left behind. It brought her to the mouth of a labyrinth, but she couldn't know it just by peering in. It looked like shelter, and the only thing that had her hesitating were memories of the mountain. Of trying to get to Auburn's body. She made sure not to touch the stone walls to either side as she ventured inward.

Halls carved by nature's hands, long and winding. She found herself entranced deeply by it all.

Siv inhaled and found no fresh scents, none that rattled something within her more familiar mind. Company was scarce in such cold conditions. What had she expected? It was no lush time to venture. Her parents had thought her bold for such a time to take flight.

Yet she yearned, so grand and deep.

A dramatic exhale as she leaned against a cold stone. Head tipped back as she looked upward, beyond into a sky that reached forever with grey clouds and thick fogs.

Soon, I hope.

Soon. Paradise might find her.

Soon. A familiar face might.

It had been foggy like this that time before, too. Now it unsettled her, the shelter doing nothing to protect from its smothering. Vision limited, she stepped carefully, even moreso after finding that the route fractured repeatedly. Was she going the right way? She began to doubt herself bit by bit, and then she heard a voice that bounced and mired her senses more. Ethereal, mystifying. Marigold continued forward, choosing to trust her instincts.

"For what?" she wondered aloud. Almost there, but still, she didn't see the other's coal-and-iron form just yet. Was she still exploring, or did she want something to do with the Falls now? Nosey, many may think her. Marigold considered herself informed, and that knowledge was one's best defense.

The voice belonged to a woman she had thought of as ghost, but she was more familiar now. Not so strange and distant. Siv could not stop the lifted wag of her tail. A broad head turned to look behind her, into the fog that obscured.

For my paradise.

She knew it had been a whimsical thing, but it had kept her warm in these long cold nights. It still warmed her and filled her with purpose. Too fresh to these lands to have given up yet. Even if she had seen how much of it was empty and barren. Siv wanted to change that. The desire burned too bright within her.

How intentional was her wording? The answer seemed to echo just within her own ears. The fog ahead pressed in around darker features, obscuring blue eyes but revealing a smile still easily remembered. Marigold felt a touch more comfortable, now at least knowing where the end of this little quest lie. Her steps slowed, meandering in their pace.

"You ever think," she chose to tease, a small smirk on her dark lips, "that perhaps you expect too much?"

Truth was, part of her had always wished she could be more like certain others- wolves like Siv, who reveled in freedom and appeared to lack all tension in their lives. If it weren't for Micaden and Addison, perhaps Mar could have elected to find out. Instead, she was tied to them in the same way she had been Auburn. Inextricably, willing only because it would tear her apart not to be.

She boomed with laughter, practically a roar with how it echoed beyond her into the caverns around them. Halls filled with life like they had once been.

Do you, Her voice filled with mirth as she returned the teasing. think you do not expect enough? Her voice was not nearly as pointed as the words might have been from another. Siv only meant to turn the tables.

I would rather ask for everything and receive most, than settle for the bare things. Perhaps that was a steak of selfish, perhaps others would have looked down upon it. Yet all Siv had ever known was strength, was the commanding presence of her parents and their leadership. Her role models had been untouchable and it inspired her in a fevered way.
