@Karima - stop being so quiet, come play!

Ears seemed to swish on his head as he debated what might have been the proper direction to turn himself in, but the air seemed to come slipping out of his lungs effortlessly. As he found himself lost with the words pushing about in his head, the heat and the frustration was getting to him. No, it was not just that - it was the hunger, and that was something that could not be satisfied easily.

It was why there was no missing the sting in his ears as he walked, respectfully staying south of the Round Stone Crest borders, almost lingering into the thickets if he went too much further. It was why his ears were alert, and he was constantly on the approach, keeping his word. While @Gent had been a pleasant and respectful soul, Gunnar knew the threat had been real. The pressure had been real, and there was no mistaking the fact that he found himself bitter.

Was this what he was to become? Some sort of hopeless outcast? It was not something the fairly chatty wolf understood, but he had yet to find a reason to go scrambling up the mountain tops and howl like a blubbering fool. Clearly his luck was not being favorable, despite the fairly intelligent wolves he had met. Perhaps the flesh of his kindred was actually what he was missing.

With that thought in mind, tail swished from one side to the other thoughtfully, wishing it was that easy. If it had been, he would have consumed the nearest wolf wandering out alone without an escort. Crrrrrk, head shot up, tongue lolling out. Someone was out playing in the woods today, and they were in for a big surprise…

She had been enjoying things as they were lately. Quiet. Without trouble. Surviving as a scavenger, forced into the shadows by fear that she might encounter Urien a second time, and the she might not be so lucky to escape without a wound if another challenge came her way. The facts of the matter still stood all the same. She was barely able to fend for herself. To simply live was a struggle, and it would not get any easier while she was on her own. Therein laid another problem though. She had no desire to become part of a pack, unless they were going to hoist her to the top of their ranks and treat her like the princess she still believed herself to be.

There was a pack somewhere nearby, and that put her on edge a little more than normal. It caused her guard to raise, knowing that there were others around that could have posed a threat, and so her awareness was shifted to moving without detection to simply moving, sacrificing stealth for a little bit more speed, only to regret her choice not a few moments after it was made.

A crack beneath her feet caused a quiet curse of the tongue. "Damn!" It was hushed, but it was still audible, and that only made her realise even more how foolish she had been to stop paying attention to what she was doing. Her leg had healed, but if she wasn't careful she was going to end up with a whole new world of fresh wounds to deal with. She wasn't sure Merlin would look after her a second time, so it was better just to stay out of trouble wherever she could.

Attention was riveted, and there was no need for him to deny that he was interested in finding out where there might have been someone hiding away. Such tasty little niblets, just such a way out of reach that he was forced to ease his paws carefully. Stretching his legs out, pulling back on the mask that would be better poised for the hunger that was going on in his mind, beckoning him for some kind of happily ever after with a show and a meal.

What was making noise was easy enough to find, and there was simply no way that he would be able to make sense of things that were scavenging through his mind. His eyes were burning, and he found himself unable to stop the anticipation that slid through him. A quiet call, an absolute plea for some sort of attention. The female that he stumbled upon looked as naive as a first month old fawn, and it was why his mouth started watering with her grouchiness.

"My lady," Words came slipping out, innocent alarm peaking over his features as he moved to her - ears swinging forward, head lowering in a slightly more predatory position. "Are you harmed? Oh, sweet charms; the bones in the body are strong, but they are still so delicate... tell me you're not hurt - a muscle strain, perhaps?" Faking it was always a droll effort, his amusement sliding through him. Yes, she was hardly going to be hurt.

But this was an engagement to seek out her disposition and vulnerability; body low, tentative with those dancing brown eyes. Clearly he was intent to make sure that he could get her in a position that she would be left fawning over someone who finally took notice of her... after all, she was fairly dirty looking. He doubted she had been getting much attention at all...

The young woman appeared to be devoid of any luck. Not once had she been fortunate enough to encounter any young women, any people her own age with whom she could discuss the mundane problems that came with growing. She had a knack for attracting troublesome people. The only exception to the rule had been Merlin, or Veho, who had proven his worth by helping her leg. Initially her impressions of the softly spoken healer had been the same as anyone. She was fearful. His patience and tolerance of an attitude most found unbearable gave her some hope. Perhaps there were still people out there who would treat the girl as the princess she still believed that she was.

So when she was spoken to with such charming and well spoken tones, she couldn't help but to remember the days in which she had once been treated with that same respect right from the first moment she was met. It relieve her more than she could have ever show. At last! Things were only getting better. First the vicious and unfriendly Urien, then Merlin, and now this stranger. Each encounter was a progressions. Maybe she wasn't as doomed as she thought she was. Freezing at first, in didn't take long for his charming to stroke her ego into lifting her chin.

"Hurt? No." Her head tossed from one side to the other in denial, though she still had the slight sting in her back legs from what had once been her infected wound. "Just a little hungry." First thing was first, could she sucker him into hunting for her? He was certain she'd scented deer nearby on the air, but whether he was so bold that he would bring her something to eat remained an entirely different though altogether.

The woman as poised like every little bit of pleasure had been dashed from her world. She held herself like she was nothing more than a lost pup, and in part that was a confusing greeting. There was not a second that could result in some sort of denial, and there was a stern look that he found himself unable to stop the concentration that was twisting through his mind. The words were sweet, almost like a whisper as they tickled him; This must be handled with utmost finesse. After all, the game was afoot.

When the Witchdoctor's apprentice eased himself through the grasses toward her, nose reached out as he sniffed. Taking in her scent, committing her appearance and her voice was committed to memory, such was why there was not a moment that he could resist. Grin seemed to come shaping across his features, and he attempted to look a little more meek in her presence. Anything to make her seem to be at ease, which seemed to be already going swimmingly to his benefit.

"How awful, has no one been looking after you, my lady?" The lure on his tongue, dangling as he found himself shaking his head fiercely; the horror was sketched about his features for a few long moments, and there was nothing to be denied on his senses. "What a sin, I can't imagine - most of us loners, we're stuck waiting... one never goes catching the flesh of a prey when it might have already been staked out." The wolf stared at her, a fair look of amusement encircling his eyes.

"This was a very nasty, nasty reality..." Words were sweet on his tongue, attempting to be generous with his facts that were being given out. "Sparrows are sweet and so chivalrous, but they need the finest quality of seeds - where's a servant, where's a comfort to be given?" He seemed appalled, effortlessly keeping his gaze serious enough on the matter.
