Erebos Argyris
Erebos was successful in pulling himself away from his opponent, as well as making contact with the few strikes he'd managed to dole out. As he hoisted himself back atop his long legs, his burning vision immediately locked onto Datura to assess the new situation. His tongue ran across his teeth, and as the man tasted blood his stomach dropped. Hopefully this wolf's 'nobility' would win out and he would strive to match Erebos eye for an eye. If so, the old man might've just gotten himself into a world of trouble. This thinking was the only thing to bring forth an apology from the man, words rushed so that he might get them in before the next turn was taken.

"Sorry 'bout that, bein' on m'back made me flash back a lil', ya know?"

Would Datura even know? Erebos had to wonder how of this was his own skill and how much was his opponent's lack thereof. He wanted to credit himself, but could acknowledge that such heady assertions were dangerous. Just keep yer head in the game, Ere!

As swiftly as a tank could, Datura launched himself forward. Erebos' response was a swift shifting of his posture, legs spread to balance and ground himself while he backed away cautiously to ease the force of the momentum coming after him. His jaws parted, prepared to spar with their peers, while his forelimbs were braced. Given the right moment, as Datura's mass met his, he would brace his weight against his hind legs and lift his front legs in order to box at the golden man, attempting to force his head to the ground.

Datura Aquila
@Erebos so datura misses here again, and then your next post is a hit. hope we can end this soon~~
Since there's already 10 posts I don't care so much about this being under word count.

Datura didn't know. Not really. He had flashbacks of all sorts of things, but fighting did not really bring those on. They were unrelated to physical conflict. It was the mountain wind, the sightings of lakes, when people called things beautiful, that brought on his own unwelcome visions of the past. Datura had never experienced war, though one had been conceivably fought on his behalf after he and his former child-wife had been taken by the zombie wolves. His battles were just the flash of teeth, the soft flesh at the throat, blood splashing in his face. But these memories were not necessarily bad.

The grey man rose to meet him and their open jaws smacked together. But Datura's bite was too quick, and as his closed, so did the opponent's close upon his. It was bad. Flailing legs came down on his shoulders before he could shove them away. The golden man was big, too big to conceivably stand long on his hind legs. An extra push was all he needed until he was down on the dirt, budging his head to knock off the jaws of the other wolf. Mostly he was just concerned with moving his body so that when the grey man came down he did not land on anything too hard.

He figured he might still have a chance.

Erebos Argyris
Every success was a surprise that hammered within Erebos' brain and fueled him further. As once more they engaged in close quarters combat, the elder found himself coming out on top still, and the boost to his ego could no longer be fought off by reasonable doubts. His confidence was surging by leaps and bounds, and as Datura fell victim to his own monstrous size the Argyris brother seized every opportunity presented to him with precision.

His gold gilded opponent shook Erebos' grip, but stubbornly the man struck out with his jaws again to muzzle grab him once more, doing his best to hold Datura's head down. Meanwhile, he had successfully boxed the other man's shoulders downward, and after all was said and done, through the impact and the fall and the determined, resistant tussling, Erebos remained on top. Everything he had was put into holding Datura down against the ground despite the other man's best efforts and his own tiring body's complaints. When finally the gray scale wolf felt the point had been well made that he had been victorious in securing the rights to his own rank, he released the young man and backed away.

His tongue slipped out of his maw, a few panting breaths being sucked into his breath greedily, before Erebos put in the conscious effort to pull the salmon muscle back into his mouth and seal his jaws tight. No weakness was to be shown, even after a victory.

Datura Aquila
He felt the force of his opponent's body come down on him, regardless of the measures he had taken. There was just too much mass to move it away in time. There was a paw on his chest, and forceful jaws that surrounded his own. The fangs were bared with the effort but they were not attempting to break the skin. Yet. If Datura had any intention of continuing, he was sure any aggressive movements of his head would tighten the hold and do quite a bit of damage to Datura's surprisingly unmarked features. Datura did not want that.

When the golden man grunted he felt his opponent relent. The battle was clearly over. Feigning disinterest, Datura put his forepaws underneath him and slowly pushed himself upright. He did not look at Gilligan, still unsure of what to make of this loss. There was no doubt it would set him back in the child's mind, and he had enough trouble garnering respect as it was. Instead, his eyes slid off to the side to check on the state of the grey man. He thought he caught him panting, but it so quickly stopped he could not be sure.

"Let's do this again sometime, aye?" he mused in his classic drawl, complete with his ugly, in-genuine smile.

"Come along, Gilligan," he added to his son, hauling himself completely back onto all fours and walking deeper into the territory without a second glance. Somehow this would have to be dealt with.
