Pre-Kisla thread

The lone wolf kept her nose to the earth. Hungry, again, but the hunger was not unbearable since her large feast three days past. Still. Nightingale was a scavenger. If ever there was an opportunity where food was involved, she could not ignore it or let it pass her by. She kept well away from other borders, and such was the case now. Upon discovering a cache, Nightingale paused and inspected the territory she was at. The woods where she stood held no pack in it for miles and miles; she sprinted away from the borders of the one she had noted, not wanting trouble or much of anything from pack wolves at the time.

Her hackles lifted around her withers as she returned to the abandoned cache. It had not been visited in a while... what the hell, she thought, before digging. It was poorly kept, but then, weren't all abandoned things that way? She withdrew the first thing of substance she noted and sniffed at it. Not rotting. The cooler weather probably preserved it; she was glad for it. The day was clear and warm, by her thick-furred standards... she felt nothing but pleasant at this find. This meant she would be able to persist in her lone activity for a while longer yet, and with no consequences to boot. She polished off the carcass left, and then sniffed in the hole to see if there was anything else she could eat.

Feeding the wolf

Why the rogue had intention to leave the Ridge for a bit of scouting for his own knowledge, he had never meant to go this far. Once he surpassed the fields he had not been satisfied. With tales of lands beyond he had to settle some curious. It would be good to know himself, and if any herds were around it could be of use in winter. Maybe, some took refuge here.

The lands rose up and  they only seemed to get higher, and at times difficult. He was probably getting more than he bargained for, but always up for a challenge he ascended it with great care. Often taking a moment to catch his breath, marvel at the expanse, and the amount of trees. He had been places similar, but not quite like this.

With a bit more effort, and time he reached the smooth top. Exhilarated, he waved his tail, and pulled in a long breath. It wasn't the greatest accomplishment, but he felt at least he was in good shape. Now, if only to find out what else was about here. The top of Stonewatch seemed to stretch on, and on. Maybe, a pack could have been around here. It seemed a nice safe spot, away from the rest of the world. The brute's dark nose began to scent, but he only caught that of a female he couldn't be sure was or wasn't of pack. Nothing better to do he followed, finding it was rather recent. Maybe, she would know something. It was only when he too caught the scent of meat did he pause in his tracks. Golden eyes circled, his guard hairs bristled. He spied her figure at least ten wolf lengths away. He wasn't sure if he should try to be irenic or even if he should speak. He somehow held back, waiting for her move.
