red fern forest
On the day I scatter your blood

The pains of hunger drove the beast on in a mechanical way, thoughts seemed lost, emotion blown away with the wind. Snow had started to fall for the season, and it only meant trouble for the yearling. She was alone. Her father was unloyal. Alone, famished, and Asurn.....A red tower twitched, mahogany eyes scanning around the tall trees carefully. Her lips lifted to reveal fangs, malice written on every feature of her dark feminine face. She stood tall and confident, tail raised, her head lifted. She seemed to be silently asking, "Whose there?. The communication of body language was the most favorable for her, and she waited patiently to see what would happen.

Finally, after she had stood dead still for a long time a rabbit hoped along nearby, and Nightshade was grateful for her quiet tactics. Had she growled, any chances of a meal would've been gone. Carefully on skilled paws she positioned herself behind the brown animal, lowered and ready to spring into action. Thankfully the wind blew her scent away, and the fluff ball had been facing form her, otherwise all would be soiled. Coiling back like a snake she waited on the precise perfect moment.

Noble Lagina

This forest was just as safe as any other. Noble was used to being safe and protected nowhere, danger lurked everywhere for her. She slept lightly and fitfully. Certainly Rory was nearby, but that did little to ease her mind. After nearly a year as a loner, those suspicions and habits were deep-set. Even in her sleep, Noble worried.

It was not a sound that woke her, but rather a scent. The wind blew Toxins scent away from the rabbit and brought it directly under the dark girl's nostril. She twitched in her sleep, flinching away from the unexpected. Gold eyes snapped open - already wide and staring into the cold forest. They were not alone. Being unaware of the proper etiquette, Noble left her travelling companion without a word. Should she have found the Rory to tell her? Perhaps @Rory would not have wanted to be bothered?

Noble was entirely unused to interacting with another wolf and she spared only a hesitant glance over her shoulder before going in search of this potentially dangerous stranger. The woman nearly blended into the scenery, a statue painted in rusty hues set in forest of the same shades. Noble watched her guardedly, reassured by the Asurn's fellow narrowness - so they were both loners then.

Upon noticing the rabbit, her eyes narrowed and stance fell to the same sort of controlled waiting as @Toxin. Noble was waiting for the perfect moment that would immediately follow the kill. If only the hunter knew she was being preyed upon as well.

Nightshade Asurn
Closer....closer... The critter hopped another step or two near the death bringer, a long silent moment between each little movement. Nightshade's body was growing stiff and her patience wearing thin, excitement flooding her. It's head lifted to look towards her then, seemingly locking eyes with the monster. Yet, the fluff moved even closer, and like a bat out of hell she rushed forward on powerful legs taking up a short chase. She wasn't considerably fast, but with how close her prey was it was a mere few bounds before a red neck stretched out, jaws landing a grip on it's ear. Angrily the bunny rabbit pounded against her chest, but she made fast work of the little thing and soon held it pinned down beneath her paws. She stared down for awhile, smiling at how weak it was under her, squirming just the way she liked. However, it was not smart to toy with one's food for too long. Teeth sunk into the neck, the crunching of bones silencing squeals of pain. The Asurn was clearly proud, rising up to stand as she let out a boastful bark. No, she was not afraid of crooks or robbers, she would just eat them alive if they dared to steal from Nightshade Asurn. No coyote could take what was hers...

Night then lowered her head to rip into warm flesh, sloppily and almost purposely spraying blood about as she took greedy mouthfuls. The meat slid down her throat as drops of blood warmed her muzzle with stains of red.

(Sorry if it's not the best!)
