Inkheart
The sun was perched atop of the highest cloud peering heavily among it's lively inhabitants of it's experiment. Inkheart, the lost soul that he had become, despised the heat for many reasons but simply because he could only swim for so long before it became a mundane activity. Unfortunately, his need to continue walking les him to what he thought was still the border of Midnight Plateau but the scents were fading away which instantly worries him. Where was Amelie? Why abouther children and her oh so charming mate?it was obvious that she left because she could not handle the disappointment he felt for being with that joker and not a hunk like himself. He swore to himself that those were supposed to be his children but such was life. Even though his reason for being here was gone he was still going to make a name for himself by placing himself on a pedestal. He walked along the Mountain of Dire with his head held high in hopes that there were scragglers that needed a pack to live. Thus, he would help them.

o hey sup. :] forgive her mood, she's a brat.

Okay, so. This was getting old. Why had she chosen to climb this mountain again? The weather up here was decidedly colder, which she should have expected. Not to mention the stupid rocks that randomly gave way beneath her oversize paws without warning. Not only was this perilous, it was just annoying. The promise of a view of the lands below was the only thing keeping her paws slowly picking their way up the rock face, her head bent down and her ice-blue eyes narrowed in desperation. This sucked.

What sucked even more was that there was actually someone else attempting this drudgery of a climb, a dark male a short distance from her. The rock face had leveled out somewhat, creating something of a flat path and an outcrop that overlooked the lands below. Well, this was just great. The last thing she felt like doing was talking to someone, much less some random dude. Totally not in the mood for a greeting, Volkan glided as quickly as she could to the edge of the outcrop, keeping her distance from the edge in case she was to fall. Stealthily she stole a glance over at the male nearby, keeping silent, certain that he'd notice her and probably come sweeping over... but hoping for a precious few moments that he wouldn't. She directed her attention to the vast display of scenery below her, though had trouble focusing on it, as she was pretty much anticipating him waltzing over any second now...

not to worry, Ink is a douche :)
Regardless of how he was supposed to act as a dependent creature born to be social with those of his own race, he was born of a different structure of life. Being sociable and interacting with those that were complete strangers was simply out of the ordinary and strange thus he did not dare look in the direction of whatever stranger he smelt. Instead, he focused on the pathway in front of him and the scenic view that he had been given. Mountains certainly did nothing for his mind or his feet but after so many years of constant traveling he was used to more types of terrain than he could count on one paw (maybe even two paws).
Once he actually stopped to think about why a stranger would interact with another stranger for no reason whatsoever, he really could not think of anything that he would have said. They had nothing in common nor did they seem to be of the same age or wisdom level. All he knew was that she was an unknown specimen that was a female—score for him in case he got the chance to woo her—and that she did not belong to a pack of any sort. That reason alone would be why he wanted to talk to her but he would wait and proceed to the next task of their nonexistent meeting.

Holding her breath, Volk continued to stare blankly out at the scenery below, all senses piqued in case the nearby male approached her. But her waiting was in vain, and she heaved a sigh of relief when he just kept on walking. Her icy eyes narrowed on his retreating form. There was a slight breeze up here that whispered through her coat and carried his scent to her. It was unfamiliar...

Staring after him, a thought crossed Volkan's mind that startled her, made her fur stand on end. No, it couldn't be him... could it? There was no way Rhysis could have also come to Relic Lore. But the black male who was walking away from her, at least from the back, resembled him almost to a T. Maybe after traveling he'd lost his scent?

Heart beginning to race as she watched him, the yearling knew she had to do something. Had to find out, just in case, just to be sure... that of course it wasn't him. She just had to see his face, just to prove that it wasn't him, that he hadn't really come here to her new home...

Slowly, then faster, Volkan began to trot after him, oversize paws beating the cold ground as she rushed after him. As she drew nearer, she attempted to keep quiet, planning out what she would say, mind swimming in the anxiety of what his face may or may not look like. What would she do if it was him? She would... run. Or fight –

"...Hey," She barked after him at last, quietly. "Hey, ex... excuse me–" Fear was evident in her trembling voice, though she attempted to keep casual as she forced it out. After speaking she stopped, waiting, nearly shaking in seconds that seemed like minutes. Would he turn around? Was it him?

Inkheart
Ink continued to stare off into oblivion, clearly uninterested in whoever it was downwind. They were simply strangers in this world and if someone needed to so desperately get his attention, they would and they did. Turning his head ever so slightly, he could the pining blue eyes looking towards him with more ounces of fear than he had seen in a while. It had been years since anyone had looked upon him, trembling in their place and seeming nervous in his presence—then again, Inkheart relished in this moment and enjoyed the fact that someone (appeared) to feel intimidated by his presence.
“Yes?” he finally answered, swinging his body around so that his side faced her. She must have needed something from him otherwise she would not have come to him so willingly. This woman was much younger than he, probably just over a year old and not yet sexually mature which made him somewhat anxious with anticipation as to what she may have wanted. Although, Inkheart was smart enough to never try anything especially when he was working on making himself a pack. The last thing he needed was another pack’s ass on him.

"Yes?"

The moment of truth. The black male swung around and – OhthankGod it wasn't him. Volkan's lungs emptied, her weathered expression melting into an honest, relieved smile as she beheld his face. How could she have been so dumb? His eyes weren't even the same. Instead of the soulless white she had tricked herself into expecting, this guy's eyes were orange, like fire. Volkan's own ice-blue eyes gave him a quick once-over. He was big; while she was a tall female, he certainly had muscle on him, not a string bean like Rhysis was.

"Just needed to see your face," Volkan quipped matter-of-factly, feather-like tail flicking quickly at her ankles. "But you're not who I thought you were, so." Now she felt a little dumb, but hell if she was going to show it. "...You just looked like someone I knew, from the back, is all." A "sorry to bother you" was omitted. Instead of admitting that she felt a little awkward, the brat stood there, unsure of what else to say. "...So yeah."

Inkheart
The stranger analyzed his face carefully and he could sense that some of the nerves dissipated from her face and instead masked something of relief. It took a few more moments until she told him why she was trying to get his attention and at first he felt annoyed that she would think someone else could look like he did. Then again, she did not know who he was so he could not bark at her for not seeing his originality.
So instead of moving on with a simple nod of his head he decided to say a “glad I could help” before turning around again to walk onwards. Inkheart truly was a man who was not about to delve into a one-on-one conversation unless he felt it was entirely needed. Avoiding others was what he did best in certain circumstances and this happened to be one of them. She obviously had made a mistake when it came to his existence so there would be no need to continue a brand new conversation.

With a simple phrase, the big black stranger nodded and turned away from her. Wow, he really wasn't the chatty type, was he? It wasn't like Volkan wanted to talk to him for any particular reason. In fact, just moments before, she'd been praying he wouldn't come over and start a conversation. But now that he didn't want to talk to her, and hadn't even offered his name – the yearling couldn't help but feel a little miffed. After all, she was somewhat of a newcomer to Relic Lore, and hadn't met but a few new faces. If she ran into a stranger and they exchanged words, to her, it was only fair that they exchanged names as well. She was going to need as many connections as possible if she was trying to live in a new place, right?

"Wait," she accidentally commanded, aware of her rudeness only after she'd spoken. "I'm Volkan." Like he cared. But while her grasp of manners wasn't exactly spot-on, the onyx female did know that offering her name was the best way to get a stranger's in return. Being an alpha's daughter had given her a vague sense of diplomacy in her puphood, after all. "If nothing else I'd like to know your name."

She knew she was bothering him, but figured he could deal with it. Volkan wasn't exactly afraid of trying the patience of strangers– if he attacked her, she was mentally prepared to react in whatever way she had to...

Inkheart
Inkheart had never been very talkative but with time he was granted the ability to talk to others in some sort of awkward conversation or just simply ignore them. It was common knowledge that striking up a random conversation about the weather was just annoying and irritable. The woman asked him to wait up so he halted in his path and turned his face around first before turning his body yet again to see her full-on. She introduced herself which only left the lingering question as to what his name was. It was the opening of a lot of questions but he knew that it generally started a long-winded conversation about random ideas.
"Inkheart," was about as simple a reply as he could get. Talking to someone was not necessarily a bother but he had long since accepted that most wanted to carry on with their lives and not bother with random chit-chat.

When he finally faced her, Volkan committed his appearance to memory. How ridiculous that she'd thought he could be her brother; Rhysis was taller and lankier, not to mention a good deal younger. "Inkheart the Lone Wolf..." she mused, wondering what he was doing on the mountain – and then realizing that she actually didn't have a good reason to be up here, anyway. This guy seemed like he didn't want to be bothered, but while Volk was socially intuitive, she didn't exactly act on her inferences in a way that could be considered polite. Instead, something of a devilish spark began to flare in her pale eyes as she wondered just how long she could occupy this guy before he became fed up.

Her feathery tail swished at her ankles. "Or– are you in a pack? I doubt you can be. You don't smell like any of the pack wolves." Volkan herself was clearly rogue; her ragged fur and lithe build lent to her vagrant appearance. "To be honest," she added matter-of-factly, "That doesn't surprise me. Even though you're really friendly, don't get me wrong." Her last words dripping with sarcasm, she shot him a wry grin, already becoming bored with her game.

"Well, it's been great," Volk said, turning slightly to leave, "Now, if you'll excuse me." Careful not to turn her back on him, the female's attention was still keen on him as she moved to exit the scene. She doubted he'd stop her.
