All welcome!
Dated 12/03 - light snow, mid day.
Random Event: Migrating geese are making quite the racket.

As winter pressed in around them, prey descended from the mountains, seeking to escape what would soon be dangerous, snow banked heights and take cover in the forests below. What remained proved to be animals that Erebos did not fancy taking on, especially by himself, and so when his stomach churned he followed the migration downward and into the Fen. It wasn't until he had traveled into the Verdant Mosses, his paw steps pulling up the thin blanket of snow to reveal the dead, brown moss beneath, that he finally caught scent of something worthwhile. As he navigated the terrain stealthily, he tracked his target down with diligence, and was greatly awarded. Within range of his vision was an elderly mule deer, clearly hindered by her arthritic bones, which must have been acting up in the cold weather. She moved mechanically and slowly, and her eyes appeared glazed. It was evident that she was on her final leg, and Erebos was confident that if he planned the hunt just right, he could fell her with ease.

Yet as the man settled into position, a flock of geese suddenly burst from what must have been a nearby collection of water, and entered the sky. The racket they created was immense, their obnoxious honks echoing throughout the atmosphere to crash down upon the ears of everything within the forest; including Erebos' prey. Startled and unsure of her own failing senses, the creature jumped to sudden life and sprang away, darting out of sight. A sigh fled the man's jaws then as his shoulders sagged, sad to see such a perfect opportunity elude him.

"Damn fuckin' birds."

Chantille Idasis
@Erebos

Her travels had brought her to an area in which she had never seen before. Previously living in the Lore, she remained on the Western side, never having crossed the mountains into the East even when she thrived within Poison Path. Her deep brown eyes carefully scan her surroundings, observing the sickly trees that were everywhere. Her nose scrunches lightly in dismay as she continues along the solid ground. Snowflakes gently flutter slowly toward the ground, some getting stuck on the branches of the pines. They wouldn't reach the ground till the branches were too full to hold even just another flake. The thick-pelted woman comes to a slow; she feels a presence. Holding her breath, her head turns as she tries to scope out what she was detecting. A sudden honking of geese makes her hackles rise. Chantille almost growls in her startled state while the geese take to the air. Her eyes narrow, but a small grin places itself upon her lips.

"Silly things" She coos quietly to herself. Her fur remains pricked as the sudden appearance of a doe makes her crouch downward. The deer seemed old, and by the way it was trying to run it seemed as if it was in pain. Temptation pulls at the woman to pursue the weak deer, but she didn't want to waste energy. She was hungry, yes, but she wasn't dumb. Chantille had eaten the remainder of the herbs she carried along to dull her hunger. It was obvious she needed to find a new home, and quick. The unforgiving winter would only be getting worse. The snow was light and pretty at the time being, but she could not fully appreciate its beauty in her current state.

Allowing herself to sigh, she starts forth again, having not heard the remark the wolf nearby made about the geese....

"speech"
