Frey Apsara
For @Zahira ~ you get weird memories Frey b/c it was very late when I wrote this woohoo!
RE: There is an active change in the Northern Lights! The sky lights up in greens, blues, and even shades of purple.

Night had fallen before she'd found shelter, something Frey berated herself with every inhaled breath, each colder than the last. The she-wolf barely remembered how she had let the hours slovenly kick by, but she was paying for her leisure now. The air was turning stiff by the minute - and she needed a bed.

When the blackness turned so suddenly from darkness to light she did not want to turn and look - but she did, and found a ribbon of vibrant green twisting against the navy backdrop of the night sky before her. Awed into a stand still the youth simply gaped at the artwork creating itself, blinking slowly to see if the vision was her own. But even as her gaze fluttered it remained. Some trick of the cold freezing her brain, perhaps? But it was so real, so beautiful...

Frey allowed herself to linger only seconds more, then painfully she peeled herself away. Survival was more important than beauty. When she finally found a small cave, nestled into a steep rise below an ancient tree, she wasted no time in shuffling through the relatively small mouth and curled up as close to the entrance as she could without freezing, so she could watch the pretty lights until her eyelids tired. Eventually they did, and she drifted to sleep. In her dream the same lights appeared, and brought with them the warmth of spring. The air did not hurt to breathe. It was peaceful, all was well. And a voice trickled in to her brain, as though spoken beside her very ear. Stay with your sister.

Frey's eyes flew open, wide enough that the artistry of the sky was reflected in their depths. Her body jerked as all of her muscles tensed at once and forced her off the cold floor of the cave. She swung her head from side to side violently, but it was abundantly clear that there was no body but her shivering own in the cave. Her muzzle wrinkled in confusion as she struggled to even her labored breaths. But that voice had been so close...

She laid back down and forced her eyes shut, but it was no use. Her stammering heart had returned to a regular pace and she was awake.

She stepped out from the mouth of the narrow cave, looking anywhere but at the brilliant lights that twisted and danced between the stars. The youth set out against the frozen tundra to seek another shelter for the night, one where she was certain she'd be alone.
