Greer Archer-Lyall

Greer did not want to submit to anyone but his sister, but if he was to join her it was a necessary evil. He could not stay behind in the willows. Not without the few members the shadow didn’t completely hate being around. His departure had been a long time coming and this was the perfect way out. Craw would not — and could not — take it away from him. Even if he refused, his sister never would. But it did not mean he couldn’t play nice with the spider-like wolf. If this wolf was going to be at the top of the hierarchy with his sister Greer had to make a good impression — whether he wanted to or not.

The older male rose to his paws without warning before striding forward, his head tipped upward just slightly. It was enough for the shadow to notice and react accordingly. Without hesitation he dipped his own head below Craw’s. While his stomach lurched at the idea of submitting to a wolf he hardly knew Greer maintained his composure, forehead smooth as his expression remained calm. His long legs bowed at the knees, allowing his tall body to dip below Craw’s. To ensure that Craw knew that he understood what the minor display of dominance meant, the shadow’s ears also fell against his skull while his silver gaze focused on the older male’s feet. “Greer come,” he repeated, this time his tone softer than it previously had been. It still wasn’t much of a question but it was less of a demand. “Follow sister-Morg. Follow Craw.” He hoped using the word follow would be a good touch.

Craw
Greer succeeded in making that good impression.

The shadow's head lowered, gaze fell, legs bent. Where Craw had known very little of the Archer before this moment, with this small but significant interaction, a few very important things were learned. First, that Greer knew his place, and how to show it with minimal prompting. There was a pride about the boy, but that was no surprise; he was an Archer, a son of Elettra, and had grown up in this kingdom built for and by his family. But he had been wanting to leave it for a while, by all accounts... as Craw observed Greer's submissive display, he decided that, once the pair were a little more comfortable with each other, he would ask the shadow why. Now that they were going to be allies, it was appropriate that they understand each other better.

The shadow spoke, and chose all the right words. A perceptive mind lay beneath all that brooding quiet. Craw felt a surge of confidence that accepting the man would be the right decision, though that would be confirmed - or not - in time. For now, he knew that both Morganna and Wraith would be pleased, and they could not turn away another who was willing to help. "Yes," he rumbled, half to himself, having let Greer posture for several long moments before stepping back, satisfied. "You should tell your sister, and Wraith. They will be pleased."

Three became four. Craw stepped back to where he had been laying, paws either side of the bone, but did not sit back down yet, yellow eyes watching the young Archer. He would wait for the shadow to depart, not expecting the man to want to linger, before ruminating on this pleasing turn of events.

@Craw sorry for late response, claim LP now! <3333

The shadow held his position until the spider drew back, his voice filling the space between them once more. Relief washed over him like a tidal wave. He had succeeded. Greer had been hoping he would not have to seek out Morganna and grovel for a position in their little pack. He would have followed them, observing from afar, before seeking acceptance. Prove himself to them — to Craw. Fortunately for the shadow, there would be none of that. He would have to pull his weight, of course, and show the older male that he did not make a mistake in allowing Greer to join them. While quiet, the Archer was determined. He did not want to let his sister down, especially if he was leaving mother and the Archer legacy behind. There was a new legacy to be a part of: a new wave of Archer’s.

Once he resumed his former position the boy dipped his head once more to show his gratitude to the silver wolf. He did not speak; the gesture would suffice. The shadow watched Craw resume his former position, his paws curling around the bone once more, before he turned away. There was another he needed to talk to: Kyna. The two had a surprising and unlikely friendship, and he wanted to uphold his promise to her about telling her when he decided to leave the willows behind. Morganna and Wraith could wait — he knew they would be excited and, truthfully, he did not care for their excitement. It was the redhead’s reaction that Greer wanted to see. Once he was out of the spider’s sight Greer headed for the mountains in search of some solitude before seeking out his friend.
