For any FTC wolves, but special notice to @Vespertio @Namid
With just a short stop the day before, they had made good time the rest of the day and Spieden had the feeling they must surely be near their destination. By scent it was obvious that this pocket of the mountains was much more inhabited than the rest, evidence of other wolves becoming more frequent across her and Sahalie's path. She was sure if they pushed, they could have made it to the packs borders by nightfall. But she knew how much she hated visitors herself when she was trying to get ready for bed, and she figured she would spare the Cove pack the hassle. The mountain nights seemed much colder, and after spending it huddled against Sahalie -- to keep the poor girl warm, of course -- they set out at the first light of day.
They rounded what seemed like one last crest, and as the mists of the early morning burned away in the rays of the sun, a shimmering blue jewel of a lake was revealed, nestled down between the evergreen lined mountain ridges that hid it from the world. Beautiful. Honestly, it made her tear up a little. Spieden shook her head and snorted. The hell? It was just a lake.
With a hasty nudge to Sahalie's shoulder she descended down towards the lakeside, skirting northbound along waterfront as she kept her nose alert to the tell-tale signs of a border. When she found it, she stopped, tipping her head back to release a song of greeting from the Bend pack. There was no knowing whether they would be receptive to a sort of rendezvous between the two packs, but at the very least a check-in wouldn't hurt. As the last notes faded she seated herself upon the pebbled shore. She'd never really gotten into the diplomatic side of her leadership, hopefully this didn't go too poorly.
