All welcome!

While the lands were strange, a fact that Lilya was finding it hard to ‘get over’, there seemed to be at least a few nice wolves that lingered around, and she hoped there were more good than bad lurking about. Her tail carried a soft sway from side to side, eyes examining the territory as she was careful not to travel too far up the mountain, figuring that was a surefire way to get herself into more trouble – heights had never been her forte. She was sticking to the base for this very reason. Her nose was actively working to find scents, tracks of prey that she could take down… smaller prey that she could take down by herself to get her by… a girl needed to eat.

She drew a deep breath as she continued her trek, a soft shiver running down her spine as she gave her coat a shake. The peppered girl had found no such luck, figuring she could expand out into the forest regions she knew surrounded the mountains through travel… learning new lands had always confused her far too much, and this one was no exception, proving to be vast with many personality types that gave her whiplash. It was a good place to hide.

Hope you don't mind me revamping this! It looked like it needed some love!

It did not surprise her that her brother, @Zane, was dozing late into the morning. He had gotten back so late the night before she had fallen asleep without him; a feat that she could not pull off very often. He had apologized quietly when he woke her, wrapping himself next to her under the tree roots of the large cedar they had found. The strain in his voice when he bid her goodnight made her heart ache for him. He had said he was off to get some food for them, but he had come back empty handed. She knew that it would have had to been greatly beyond his capabilities to come back with nothing for his Rabbit. She had gingerly peeled herself from his warmth the next morning, though she was certain she could have stomped out with the way he had been snoring.

Her grey paws gingerly pulled her forward along the baseline of the great mountain overhead. What an amazing thing to wake up next to this giant each morning. No wonder her father had decided to join this pack, it would put you in such a great mood to wake to such beauty each day! Though, Zeta was not the personality type to ever really wake up not in a good mood. As she trotted, her beryl-lime eyes followed the signs of spring. It was almost like you could watch the remaining snow melting off the branches, and hear the birds and squirrels come back to life. Life was good; she had found her father, and now their mother had joined, too. It was like they could almost be a family again, no matter the gaucherie everyone was deciding to put out over it.

Soft, joyful humming began escaping from her maw, a spring to her light steps. A female's scent drifted into her nostrils, and Z decided that it was just the morning to make someone else's day too. She dropped her nose slightly, making haste not to lose her new company. When the grey-cream girl came into sight, Z slowed to a stop, wagging her tail happily. She gave a short bark to alert her company of her presence, "Good morning!" She let her tongue lap out of her mouth in a friendly smile, curious to wait for the femme's attention.

@Zeta - Yes, thank you! <3

Lilya had honestly lost herself in thought, well, as much as she could while still working on tracking down some breakfast, and the voice that caught her attention made her jump a little, head whipping around to see another girl standing there, a small smile creeping onto her features at the friendly appearance of the stranger, a soft wag of her tail as her ears perked, and her head tilted to the side just a little bit, a curious expression on her face, but an overall non-threatening look to her. “G’mornin’ to you too!” She called out as she carefully approached her, not passing up the opportunity for company.

It was just like that which she let her worries fade into the back of her mind, pulling her from the abyss of thought she’d been in to the seriousness of the situation in front of her. She needed to be alert if she was to get breakfast, and now there was a conversation to be had. She still let certain hints of caution hold steady in her eyes, wondering just what this strange loner was doing on the mountain. Was this a wolf who was tracking her? Lily a doubted it by the friendly nature, but it was impossible to tell what tricks they would pull.

“How’re you?” A better question probably would have been “who are you” but that just seemed too rude for the conversation right now, and so she kept a calm expression on her features, friendly still, even if she still held uncertainties in her mind.

Zeta was thrilled that her company had been in a good mood, too, and decidedly approached her after her greeting. See? This day was already off to a great start! Granted, the female was more cautious than Zeta was, though that was not something that was uncommon to see. Her brother had always encouraged her not to be so friendly to strangers, but when you were in the business of looking for someone, you had to be friendly with people so you could ask them questions. He was definitely not the talkative one, which is why she had always picked up the slack. A great number of wolves had decided to trust the twins due to her innocence, whether or not it would bite her in the ass or not remained to be seen.

How're you?

Zeta's tail wagged happily, her eyes twitched back happily as she smiled. Gosh, it was so nice to find someone who wasn't so grumpy (like her brother) this early in the day. "I'm great! Though I'm not sure how anyone could not be great when you've got this big guy shining down on ya everyday, right?" She laughed, pointing over her shoulder with her nose at the great mountain over their heads. "And you? How are you? I was just out enjoying the morning since it's so nice. My brother is sleeping in," she rolled her eyes playfully at the mention of her sleepy brother, continuing on with her unnecessary and gormless dialogue; though in truth she felt no remorse at all for his slumber this morning. She knew it was always for her, anything he did.

Lilya couldn’t really say that she was too comfortable around others… once they proved to be safe, not a threat to her or her safety, she could talk their ears off… but that didn’t necessarily mean she was always comfortable. The mountains were strange, not desolate like she expected them to be but full of individual lifeforms that piqued her interest, hence her attempt at a hunt instead of venturing to lower lands to do so. The other girl seemed friendly enough, her icy blue eyes focused carefully on the other woman’s features, looking for some sort of behavior that might stand out as dangerous though she found none.

She relaxed considerably when she found no signs and the other seemed to cheerfully respond to her, her tail wagging in return as she listened intently. It was good that she was great, of course, and Lilya was happy to know that not everyone on the mountain was miserable and full of woe. She put a wider smile on her face as she gave a light chuckle and a nod to the other loner’s words. But then she was asked how she was and she answered quickly. “M’pretty good m’self! Lookin’ for some breakfast or somethan… wanna hunt with me?” She asked the question, made the offer, before she could really think about it… it was a sincere offer nonetheless. This woman was very interesting to Lilya, and Lilya liked to observe interesting things.

Zeta’s tail wagged happily with her company’s words. She realized she had a bit of lilt in her tone, an accent that she hadn’t recognized before. She had been living a relatively sheltered life until their venture out to find their father, so anything that she hadn’t been exposed to at Brittle Stone Basin would be even more new and more exciting. The blue-eyed femme offered to hunt with her, and Zeta felt excitement brew in her stomach. A friend! She wanted to spend time with her! Zeta had not had friends outside of Zane for a very long time, though she had never actively tried to go out on her own to find them either. She hadn’t needed to. She was overly friendly with everyone, but it had usually been meant for information to find their Dad.

“Yes! Of course I do, yes!” She barked, rolling her eyes with a laugh – what a silly question for her new friend to ask! Her tail was wagging whole-heartedly now. The scent of deer caused her nose to turn to the side momentarily to identify its relative location – that must have been what she was talking about. Zane would be so proud of her if she could bring him some breakfast for once! She was not a skilled hunter, having been looked after by her family and pack most of her life, but she could definitely do the basics! “Let’s go!” She insisted, and turned in the direction of their hopeful next meal.  “I’m Zeta, by the way!” She called over her shoulder with a smile.

Lilya had noticed the others from these parts didn’t talk like she was used to, but they all talked the same, which meant she was the odd one even if she wasn’t used to it. She spoke the way her entire family had spoken, so it was nothing new to her, and she considered anything else strange even though she’d been away from it for long enough that it shouldn’t have been. The other wolf was not a threat, in fact, she appeared to be incredibly inviting, and it was something Lilya was thankful for. She could not afford conflict at the current time, especially with the demons that haunted the trails she left in the dirt and had her constantly checking her shoulder.

She’d be safe with another wolf though… right?

Her response seemed to be jovial, a wide grin planted firmly on Lilya’s features as her tag wagged from side to side, the other girl seemed to pick up the same scent she had, that of the deer that had her nose turning, a challenged look on Lilya’s face as she nodded, quickly trotting after the woman, light on her feet though she did not say a single word, her mind turning to hunting mode… until she was offered a name and she let out a more hushed tones. “M’name is Lilya… ya can call me Lil though… what’s th’plan?” She combined her question with a light and friendly tone still, though it was a tad more serious.

The lone wolf never took hunting lightly, especially when a larger piece of prey was involved.

1/8 post of active hunting.

It would be lucky for Zeta that her newfound friend would be taking their venture seriously. Zeta had always been a tag-along with her brother's hunts, so while she was good at taking directions, it was a different thing altogether to be hunting with a stranger. A new look of surprise came upon her features, luckily hidden by their staggered file, when Lil asked her what the plan was. Huh? She expected her to have an expert opinion here? Oh. Well, she supposed she would have to try. If she wanted to impress her cater-cousin brother, she would not want to come back empty-handed.

Right now they were simply headed in the direction of the scent's origins, but it would not be long before they happened upon their prey. She followed suit with lowering her voice. "I think we're downwind from it, which is why we smelled it so easily. I think once we get close, we just sneak up on different sides and ambush it! That's what me and my brother usually do." Turning her eyes back ahead, she lowered her nose to the ground, anxious not to lose the scent. Her ears pricked forward, trying to remember all of the things her brother would have said. Ears forward, smell the wind, watch the ground, stay downwind, and when you don't need the wind anymore, start watching your surroundings. It would not take long before they found the doe, she did not think. She wondered if they'd be able to find tracks in the fresh spring mud. "What do you think?" She asked, investigating the ground before looking back over to Lilya.

2/8 Active Hunting <3
3/4 getting them into position 5/6 them ambushing it 7/8 them killing it?

Lilya figured that the other girl had more expertise than she did, because the last time the ocean eyed lassie had taken down any big prey like this was her first and honestly only pack hunt over a year ago… The other girl lowered her voice as well as she gave feedback, Lilya glancing at her now with a soft smile on her features and a quick nod to her plan. She liked the plan, agreed with it… but then again she didn’t have much experience in this herself. She was asked what she thought and she mused for a second before responding.

She continued to carry that soft tone to her voice, almost silent but not quite. “I like it… I’ll take it from the left and you take it from the right?” She asked quickly, keeping her eyes out for the deer, attempting to follow the scent as Zeta looked for prints in the mud that could help ease them along their way. Lilya was hungry, Zeta was hungry, and Zeta had a brother who would also be hungry no doubt – that meant that failure was not an option, not in her mind anyway, and she’d be bringing that doe down.
