OOC! @Merys or anyone else Sorry for such a long post. I kind of got really into it. I also kind of used the random event as well. Hope this works :D

Her flank had healed nicely only leaving a large pink scar that sticks out against her midnight fur. With time her coat would grow over it and it wouldn’t be seen. It might have healed sooner and less noticeable of she had listened when told to stay off of it, but she had an overwhelming need to help with pack duties. Despite her skin being fully healed her muscle underneath was still patching itself up. So she could walk relatively normal but running was another story.

Every morning she would sneak from the communal den to walk, well limp, along the pack borders to patch any holes that there may be then she would sneak back in before anyone would wake up. With her skin healed she didn’t have to hide her duties anymore she just could hide any pain that came up.

The morning started out calmly with blue skies, a pink sunrise, and a gentle breeze. The dark girl left the den to start her daily border check. Everything seemed normal as she walked the edges but that was all about to change. As she reached the far borders the wind picked up and debris started to fly around. Her ears flattened against her head almost disappearing altogether as she hunkered down against the wind. She was determined to finish her patrol; she was already half way done so may as well.

She pressed on as the wind howled against her and as thunder rang out against the blackening sky. Great she thought to herself. Thunder was always followed by lightening, which the ebony wolf wasn’t the fondest of. The sky flashed bright white with the electrical bolts clashing with the grey clouds. How could a storm move in so quickly with no warning? She pondered a moment. No matter how the storm reached them so quickly it was here. Thunder rang out again but this time the lightening wouldn’t stay in the sky. A large bolt flashed down hitting a nearby tree with such ferocity any creature would have had their soul scared outta them. The bolt lit the tree ablaze with the orange monster from Moonshadow’s childhood.

Silver eyes widen in horror as she stands frozen in place watching the very thing that took her birth family make itself known in her new home. An overriding fear took a hold of her and she ran just as she did over a year before. She sprinted in the opposite direction of the fire ignoring the searing pain in her flank. It began to pour as she ran and ran away from her home. Too enthralled in terror the girl didn’t notice the rain put the fire out, thus saving her new home from the same fate that fell upon her birth pack.

She flew through the forest with no sense of direction. She ran til her leg couldn’t take it anymore and collapsed beneath her. Her whole body went tumbling eventually stopping next to a tree. Moonshadow lifts her head and gives it a gentle shake. Taking a look around, she realizes that she isn’t within her home and lets out a whine. Did she just leave her pack again to suffer the same fate as before? No – she wasn’t going to let that happen again. She tries to stand but she is completely unable to put any weight on her right leg. With a sigh of frustration she lays back down deciding to wait a few minutes for the almost unbearable pain to lessen so that she could go help her family.

It happens! Let your word-flag fly!

How had Merys found himself here? Again, in a storm? Why did Relic Lore seem to have a hate for him? He had only just escaped a storm up north, and now his leisurely border exploring had found him again with darkened clouds above the canopy. He had started heading north as soon as he smelled the change in the air, though these things had a tendency of moving quickly. He was thankful that instead of being stranded in lowlands, he had the cover of woodlands. Very eldritch woods, but nonetheless, shelter. Everything looked like shelter to him after the perspective he had gotten in Larkcall with the mammoth female.

Merys swore under his breath when the first lace of lightning and thunder arose. He would not be willing to subject his eyeballs to the needles of rain and wind again. He started looking for raised roots or an old den. God, this place was so creepy looking. He never thought the idea would make it into his mind, but he would be happy to get back to White Fir Notch. When he came upon her, he was thankful the howling wind masked his words. "Are you fucking kidding me?" How had he stumbled across -- yet another -- female in need of his assistance. What was he? A good will martyr? This needed to stop. Though the rain's strength was dampened by the swirling canopy above, it was still early spring and plenty still made it through the young leaves and onto his pelt. He felt suddenly very heavy.

This time, his company DID look hurt. She had a pained expression and her stance was one to match. He would sooner have moved on, but she must have seen him by now .. that and he may harbour some guilt if he did not. He strode closer, lowering his head -- partly due to the storm picking up, partly so he didn't seem like a stranger taking advantage of her situation. "Are you alright? Not my first pick for shelter in a lightning storm," he admitted, motioning to the gargantuan tree she had settled herself under. Unless you are looking forward to being wolf bacon..

OOC! Sorry bout the late reply DX

The wind was howling so loud she almost didn’t hear him. His words barely made it to her ebony ears that were flattened against her skull. "Are you alright? Not my first pick for shelter in a lightning storm," Ya mine either she thought irritated. The young girl would usually match the others level of sarcasm but due to the pain and weather she was in no mood. “I was running and my leg gave out. I couldn’t really find anything else” she explained fighting the rudeness that so desperately wanted to lace her words.

She studied the wolf before her through squinted eyes. Luckily the wind was whipping against her back so she could get a semi-decent look at him. The male was considerably older than her, two maybe three years. He was a mixture of almost every shade of brown and she couldn’t get a good look at his eyes for they were shut against the piercing rain and wind.

Not wanting to look too weak or vulnerable the girl tries to stand again. Her leg was more willing to bare weight this time around and allowed her to put just enough weight to hold herself up. The wind threatened to blow her over at any moment. “Do you know of anywhere to get out of this” she asked before gritting her teeth down from fighting to stay up right. Giving a quick look around Moonshadow couldn’t see any but could definitely tell she wasn’t anywhere near home.

Merys judged the female through his squinted eyes, assessing the severity of her leg injury. Her scent was not one he recognized; he wondered if she belonged to anyone or was out here on her own accord. In either case, this situation did not seem to bode well for her, especially if he hadn't shown up. A lone injured wolf would not survive without provisions, and an pack member who was injured and still venturing home was just being a burden on everyone. And now she's a burden on me, he thought, looking away from her then. He was calling it; it was true. In this very moment, this very unique moment, he genuinely could not wait until he got home to White Fir Notch. That giant bear den they had claimed seemed all too inviting right now. His pained eyes scanned their surroundings for any conveniently vacated bear dens here, though the drops continually running into his eyes gave most of the scenery a botryoidal image to it.

She spoke again, and his gaze was pulled to her quickly when she bore down in pain once more. "Obviously not too far with that gimp," he grumbled, not caring if she was able to hear him over the wind that time or not. His nose lifted once more to the large tree she sat under, the lightning pole she had chosen to use to sacrifice herself to the Sky Gods, seemingly. "But we are not staying here," he assured her, moving to head northwest again, "I'm definitely not, anyway. Come on, there may or may not be some big rocks up ahead." He could not say for sure; his senses were betraying him in this weather. He moved to leave, then remembered the female's handicap. He turned to look back at her, wanting to gauge how long this 100m dash would take them.

OOC! Sorry bout the wait

His comment about her injury caused her lip to lift slightly in a silent growl. Her eyes flicked towards the male as she took a deep breath to calm herself. All the yearling wanted to do was get back to her lakeside home and save her family. Realizing that she couldn’t do it in these conditions she decided that her best bet was to go with this stranger. Complaisantly she followed him to some boulders where they were able to find a small den like cave. Hobbling in after him Moonshadow was grateful to be out of that weather.

With a shake of her pelt she sat down slowly, taking care not to sit too fast on her right haunch. Once placed comfortably on the ground the yearling was able to get a better look at her company. The male before her was definitely much older than she was. His coat was a mixture of many shades of brown and his scent wasn’t one she recognized. She could smell the faint scent of others so she assumed that he was a part of a pack; what pack she did not know.

“Good thing we found this place” she stated hoping to make friendly with this stranger despite her earlier irritation. May as well because the storm didn’t look like it was going to let up soon and she doesn’t know how their packs stand with each other.

Merys Adroren
Once under the rocks, Merys flopped down dully, facing opposite of his company. He watched her place herself gingerly down, splinting her right side so to avoid further injury of her leg. She eyed him, and he eyed her, and he was fully uncomfortable with the situation. He had gotten her somewhere safe.. and hardly at all, he had simply just pointed her in the right direction. She hoped to make conversation with him, but all he could mutter out for the time being was, “Yeah, good thing,” heavy on the sarcasm.

The storm wasn’t lifting, so he knew he would be stuck her for some time. These woods would not protect him all the way to the Notch, nor was he in the mood for that kind of pelting from rain and wind all the way home. They were both irritated with the situation, and probably each other, but he heaved a sigh of acceptance. “Where are you from? You’re not by yourself out here, are you?” He asked, hopeful that she had some sort of means to look after herself so that he could leave her as soon as the opportunity presented itself. He wanted to be home; a gross feeling, but even the bear’s den was better than this gormless situation. The last he wanted was to have to play protector for any longer than he had to. His own pack was one thing; they provided him with something. Strangers and mongrels? Well, he just didn't have the patience today.

Well so much for that she thought bitterly to herself when his response was heavily laced with sarcasm.  Her eyes rolled slightly after he spoke then found their way to the opening of the cave. The rain could be heard pelting down upon the rock and the wind howled ruthlessly. Taking her eyes away from the storm outside, she looked down at her flank. It didn’t look any different but it felt hot as if it was being intensely warmed by the summer sun. Great, getting home is gonna be fun she thought dreading the walk back. She knew that she was gonna have to deal with the pain because she was gonna try to get home as fast as she could.

His next words didn’t sound like his previous ones. No sarcasm, more acceptance of the situation really. “My pack isn’t far from here – er – at least I don’t think it is” she explained with a hint of uncertainty. How far had she run? She couldn’t have ran too far with her injury but her fear made it hard for her to know for sure. “Where are you from?” she inquired since he was asking her, she may as well ask too.

Merys eyed the small female, watching her movements. He most certainly didn’t want to be here with her.  He prayed the storm away, but with the spring still in full tilt, he knew it was a futile spiritual attempt. She confirmed that her pack wasn’t far – at least enough confirmation that Merys needed. That was a relief. He wouldn’t feel guilty for letting her limp her foolish self back to her medic; he was not sure why she had decided to find herself out here alone if she knew she was injured. She was a sitting duck. He wondered if she had gotten newly injured in the storm, and perhaps that was her excuse; though there was no visible trauma and so he blindly returned to his she-is-just-stupid theory.

Where was he from? His brown eyes met hers and he accepted that small-talk was going to be unavoidable under this cozy rock. “The North. A ways from here. Obviously much further than you.” She didn’t seem entirely impressed by his earlier, and he wasn’t in the mood for managing any little girl’s drama. Merys stood abruptly, decision made suddenly. "Looks like it's letting up," he said drly about the storm, though it certainly didn't seem so. "Take care," he motioned to her leg, avoiding eye contact. He couldn't do socializing now, not today. With that, he removed himself before he could hear the female speak and started into the pelting rain once more.

OOC! Out of character comments here

The beginning of his answer was normal and civil enough but could it stay that way? No, it couldn’t. He had to throw in a snide comment. This wolf was not one she would willingly seek out to meet again. He irritated her with his attitude. It wasn’t like it was her fault for the storm and him being so far from home. She had gotten stuck in Mother Nature’s rage just as he had. Her eyes rolled at his comment “Obviously much further than you”. Like you know how far my home is. You don’t even know where I'm from the female thought bitterly annoyance showing on her face.

His next words came as both a surprise and relief to the ebony woman - "Looks like it's letting up." Her head turned towards the entrance of the cave. Mother Nature was still pissed off…rain pelting down like daggers, wind howling like an injured wolf, thunder and lightning filling the sky. The storm was definitely not letting up but before she could say anything he said take care and bolted out.

Have fun out in that she thought sarcastically. He would have been better off to stay out of the storm but if he really couldn’t wait to get back then so be it. She was glad she didn’t have to be around someone who was so standoffish. The young woman didn’t really care why the male was that way all she cared about was getting home. Relaxed enough now that she was alone Moonshadow curled up to reserve body heat. She placed her head on her front paws and watched the storm rage on – waiting for it to end.
