Merys Adroren
Merys wasn't surprised to see Z perturbed by his comment, partly because it had been meant to stir said response. He didn't expect to 'break through' to anything spectacular or open the male's eyes up to a new way of thinking, but it couldn't do any harm in helping with some potential self-awareness. Loneliness did not need have the connotation of depression with it. In fact, in this wolf's case, Merys anticipated that it may be more of the dependence of other's company for more usage. Whether you relied on others company for companionship or for your own special needs (malicious or otherwise), you were still dependent on their company.

"I'm just sayin', you don't have to be lonely for companionship necessarily, and if I'm interpreting you correctly, that's not what you're recruiting for anyway," he explained with an aloof shrug, but left it at that. The conversation was over, and the both of them knew so. They were both not what the other was looking for.. or not entirely anyway. While Merys could have been tempted if he had presented his argument another way, or if Z could have been more interested in Merys' qualities would have to remain to be seen. Today was not that day, and perhaps the day would never come. And that was fine; he had a presentiment that this wolf had a sweet tongue that could lead him into trouble if he wasn't careful -- trouble that perhaps a less optimistic day would have been a welcome invitation. He shrugged again, "No alternative. Just self-admittance that a spade is a spade. A 'band of bachelors' sounds too.. adorable," he said with a smile. Wolves like him existed, and there would likely come a day when Merys was thankful they did so he could relieve himself in ways that a pack would frown upon. When being a monotonous robot would no longer be enough; and following mundane orders would need to come to an end. But he wasn't there yet. The lucky thing was.. Z was the kind of wolf that would always be around -- even when you didn't want them to be.

Zerxes Zamora
Companionship, puh! Despite this one's appreciation for being alone, he spoke like a true pack wolf. Disgusting. Zerxes could hardly stomach the presence of the male any longer. His stance was far too neutral for Z's liking. Make a choice was how he felt about all things. Sitting somewhere indecisively was a waste of time, resources, and life. It was just as well. He was growing bored with this droll conversation. It was time he left the man to his own devices. Let him wallow in his companionship.

The wolf's comment that a spade was a spade was intriguing, in its own way. The masked man smiled, though it was too wide and toothy to truly be considered friendly. "Band of Bachelors is more likely to appeal to some freedom-seeking junkie over hearing it called Agents of Chaos." Which is what the ragtag group would be. There it was, splayed out in unromanticized form. He'd been right. It was not for companionship that he was recruiting. It was not for any purpose save his own. Because driving packs into chaos amused him. Because Zerxes did nothing if it did not amuse him in some fashion.

With his motives more or less revealed, the loner lifted his shoulders in a devil-may-care manner before turning away. "If pack life ever starts to bore you..." He smiled toothily. "You need only follow the bodies." With all the hurry of a turtle, Z ambled off without so much as a backward glance. Only time would tell if any planted seed took root.
