For @Sylva only.
Backdated to Jun 18th. Dreary skies, noon.

It figured that the one of them that was training to heal would be the wolf that fell ill. The girl was already a bit high maintenance (though that was partially Gent's own fault for being so cynical), and now she was confined to the medical den with her germs. Luckily, it seemed to be only a mild bug, but still the alpha made sure to take care of her in order to ensure that the sickness did not become worse. He visited her several times each day, even staying to converse if she so wished it in hopes of helping her stave off the boredom. She was brought small portions of food so as not to upset her stomach, and allowed dosages from their medical stores. Each time, Gent made sure to stay oustide of the den; he would not bring back whatever it was she had caught to his children.

Today, she would be having hare for lunch; the carcass held firmly in place betwixt his jaws. The rain had abated by the sky was still overcast, dark gray and dismal to look at. The clouds affected the entirety of the atmosphere, darkening the forest and trapping the moisture in the air. It clung to his fur, threatening to sneak past and touch his skin. The giant absolutely despised the wet, and would have much prefered to have taken the day off entirely and spent it with his family. Sylva didn't have the luxury of such choices right now, however, and he would not neglect the diligent youth.

Once arrived, he nudged the rabbit down the crevice and into the den, staying outside of it despite how much he longed to be somewhere underground and dry. His pale eyes peered into the darkness, trying to discern her shape amongst the assorted piles of florae.

"Sylva?" he called out to her. "You up?"

Sleep, that’s the only thing that crossed the tried girl’s mind as she laid inside of the dark den, It was boring and tense in the gaps between Gent’s visits. Random waves of nausea rippling through her body kept Sylva in a constant state of awakeness as an occasional groan would seep out between her lips as she sighed at the irony. Of course the only one among the pack training to cure this kind of stuff would be the one to get sick.

Her head lifted a little as a hare wriggled its way into the den and her brown gaze blinked in astonishment as she was suddenly greeted by it. “Um….” She said uncertainly as she stared at the piace of prey, surely she couldn’t be going crazy right? She had heard the trees and sometimes the rocks...but never before had a hare spoken to her, what it some fevered disillusion caused by the sickness? Oh… She thought quietly as she saw the pale gaze of her mentor and Alpha peering into the den, It was Gent. A small sigh of relief escaped the girl as she mumbled loudly “Good..hares don’t talk…” though the relief was short lived and quickly replaced by a grimace of guilt as the Yearling realized that it was pouring down rain outside and Gent had taken time away from the dryness and comfort of Raela and the pups just to visit her...

Um crept up from under the boulder to reach his ears, informing him that the girl was indeed awake. That was almost a pity; if she'd been sleeping, he would have the excuse to slip away and return to @Raela and the kids. As it was, he would not waste the trip out. It had to be mind numbing, cooped up day and night and miserable to boot. He certainly did not envy @Sylva's little 'break.'

The king settled down onto his stomach, long legs stretched out before him so that his paws rested just beyond the lip of the infirmary's threshold. When she finally pieced together what was  going on, the words uttered caused his ears to twitch. If anyone else had made such a remark, it would have been a trivial oddity. This was Sylva, however, and by now he knew enough of her weirdness to know exactly what she meant. So she believed inanimate objects able to communicate with her, but not other living creatures?

"They talk to each other plenty, I'm sure," he commented idly. "How are you feeling, Sylva?"

Hopefully better, even if just by a shade. Progress was progress.
