Gent Lieris
For @Miccha only.
Dated for July 11th. Clear weather, mid afternoon.

It seemed natural once more to roam the Blackberry Fields, without the tweedle of ghosts reaching out to him to pull him off the path. No longer did he think of what used to be here, of all the encounters he'd had amongst the unfriendly bushes. His mind was now free of such fogs, focused instead on the clear and bright future. At last with a pack that didn't need constant watching over, he could breathe and travel (only now and then, as spare time was much better spent with the children) as he used to be able to what felt like so long ago.

Stretching his legs now amongst the tangles of the berry-bearing growth, he sought not the sickening blackberries but the clusters of white yarrow that grew amongst them. It was a small plant that was excellent for so many things, and while the hardest (physical) portion of child rearing was over for @Raela, Gent still made sure to cater to her every need and ensure that she did not suffer any maladies. And the others too, he supposed. Not that they had given any cause for concern, each of them fit as a fiddle.

Normally, @Sylva would be brought along on such a venture, but today, Gent was enjoying being alone with his thoughts. There was always next time, anyways.

Sorry hon, I don't feel my best but wanted to get this up for you <3 @Gent

The dark king did not leave his pack lands often, especially now that his wife had recently brought their children into the world. Now, more than ever, he did not have any desire to leave his thickets. Yet, this outing seemed a necessary one. Though Aideen had recovered, her labor had not been a smooth one. Now, she spent most of her time taking care of their children, and Miccah wished to ease her stress just a little. Bring more of the smile that drew him to her in the first place. And for that, he needed to do something that made her happy. So, here he was, yet had no idea what to do now. Miccah knew she loved the sweet berries of this field, so maybe he could bring her a few branches. The stoic man huffed slightly in annoyance. He was no good at this stuff. He should've asked Nina on what to do for Miccah had never been the romance and flowers type.

His thoughts were broken by a familiar scent in the breeze, one that the king had not expected to scent today of all days. Curious, the man looked around and his blue gaze locked onto a familiar figure. Their previous meeting had been...pleasant enough, yet he felt like the man did not trust them fully. Miccah had no issue with this, for he didn't trust them either. He wasn't a man that trusted strangers at first meeting. However, maybe this meeting could prove useful to build...something..between their packs. Only time would tell.

"Gent," the dark king rumbled in greeting.

Ah, there some was, a rather healthy cluster hidden under the brambles of one of the berry-bearing bushes. Gent bowed down to eye it, half debating just leaving this one be. While his time in Black Thorn Downs had served to make him quite used to rooting through such agitating brush, that was quite a long time ago now. Anyways, these berries reaked, but... it was for Raela, and this was indeed a prime bunch to pick. With a sigh he crept forward, and slipped his muzzle under the hanging leaves to gather a few stems betwixt his teeth and pull them lose. The work was distracting enough that he did not sense another wolf entering the area. It wasn't until he had gotten enough to be satisfied, deposited it on cleared ground, and rolled back his shoulders that he breathed in the other man's scent.

His head turned as Miccah called out, and a polite smile crept onto his muzzle as he nodded his acknowledgment.

"Miccah," he returned, before joking, "come all this way for a bouquet too?" completely unaware that he had more or less hit the nail on the head.

Sorry I took so long <3

His words made a smirk briefly appear across his maw. It wasn't often the dark lead was in a joking mood, but today he appreciated Gent's playful words. Opening his maw to speak, his words were a deep rumble. "Something like that," Miccah responded, chuckling lightly. Clearing his throat, for it had been a while since he had attempted a friendly conversation with someone that wasn't from his pack, the king continued. "I hate these things...but she loves them." He shrugged lightly, not used to sharing such information right off the bat with a virtual stranger. But Miccah wished to seek a friendship with Gent, and that required conversation. It was true though, Aideen loved these berry bushes. The taste, the fragrance...when they were anything but Miccah's favorite. Well, his father had been telling him the truth when he had stated that a man would do anything for the woman he loved. Miccah looked at Gent, for by his words they were here for the same reason. "How is Raela?" he questioned the man before him. He hoped that her birth had been a smoother one than his wife's, but due to Gent's similar size the dark king doubted it.

Ah, close enough, Gent learned. @Miccah wasn't here for practicality but rather sentimentality. As the other man motioned toward the berry-bearing brush, the fellow king's own snout wrinkled slightly. He could definitely understand the distaste. There were many things he disliked about the shrubs, and it had been a long time since he'd had any reason to ignore that. Then, for a moment, his pale eyes turned thoughtful as they regarded their surroundings. Had Minka loved the blackberry bushes? Was that why they had moved here, ignoring the proximity of the Woodlands? He'd never asked. Would never know.

Hm.

"Can't blame you, I'm not fond of them myself. Took quite a while to get accustomed to the stench when I was with the Downs," he shared, before answering the question about Raela with a smile.

"She's wonderful, as are the children," his lips pulled back as his expression widened into a proud grin, "three of 'em, two girls and a boy."

He needn't mention the scare they both had had during the birth, nor that Lucia's small size was potentially troubling. Those hiccups aside, they were perfectly healthy, and absolutely adored by their parents and their pack.

"Yours?"

If he felt good boasting, surely Miccah would wish to do the same. It had been their first litter too, hadn't it?
