Alastor Leigh
Special @Lark tag

It was already far past time for them to leave, the time never quite feeling right to head out. But, it was beginning to seem like the time would never really be right. He picked himself up once the light began to stream into the den in the morning, stretching and going for a jog out to one of the caches near the northern border. Uncovering it, he picked out a hare then settled down. He decided to not make too quick of a meal of it at risk of upsetting his stomach, and the added fact that he needed to think clearly on things. Lark was in Oak Tree Bend, something that still completely unsettled him and he wasn’t feeling that happiest that Hal had gone behind his back to get him there. Especially after everything that went down between the three of them and between he and her afterwards. He’d thought they’d gotten closer after everything was said and done, but he couldn’t help feel betrayed by her actions.

Teeth met bone roughly as he gnawed, taking a bit of frustration out on it. Tongue flickered out to lap at his blood-stained maw, attempting to clean himself up before his next task. Moving his bulk to his paws he headed to the edge of the border before turning and pausing, taking a deep breath. Then, his lifted his head and called for @Sahalie and @Ruenna .

Sahalie Leigh
It's 1am but what do I care i'm excited
Somewhere along the line Sahalie had forced it out of her mind that Alastor was avoiding her—or that she was avoiding Alastor—ever since the "encounter" nearly two weeks ago. Alastor was busy, she told herself. There was nothing to feel guilty about. There was nothing weird going on between them. Except it seemed as though even his scent trail hid from her—she was imagining things, she told herself—right when they needed to be preparing to leave. Where a few weeks ago the girl would have been budding with excitement to go see new family and dread to leave her precious family she was left only with that dread and some new uneasiness in her stomach.

And it all centered around Larkspur.

At first it was just hard to tell Alastor about the bargain struck and or olive branch extended between her and the man because, well, Al just wasn't around to be told. Then she foolishly began to convince herself that Lark would have told her friend himself, because that seemed exactly like Lark—an imaginary Lark. And all this lying on the behalf of others was starting to make her feel like vomiting. Once the simple lie of omission had reached that level there was simply no way she could tell Alastor. As awful and nervous as the thought made her she knew the only way she could handle any of this trip was if Alastor found out at the last minute with Ruenna present so that he could not be so cross with her. They would talk more on the trip, Sahalie told herself: she would apologize then. She would make it up to him—not that she could forge an apology like "Hey join my pack while you heal!" for a situation like this.

"Uhm... Al..." Still felt weird to say this name. There were still so many things they needed to talk about. There was a rabbit at his feet and blood on his otherwise handsome mouth, painting an unsettling scene before her. Did she imagine he looked cross or was that real? "There's something I need to tell you..."

Larkspur Ritter
He felt... weird. It wasn't a bad sort of weird, but it was a feeling that he couldn't exactly point out. Larkspur immediately hated the feeling, but had too much to deal with that day to take his time figuring out what it was. It was weird and he didn't like it, the rest he'd just have to figure out along the way. Lark stretched, still feeling groggy, his mouth still stinging from the ginger he'd sleepily gnawed on that morning. He hadn't liked the root at first, but the taste was growing on him. Aponi knew what to do, too, because his stomach had stopped bothering him so much.

He heard a howl, one that wasn't exactly meant for him, but was all the same. Shaking himself off, Lark stepped away from his stop, then paused. He had never bothered to claim a den, not seeing any point to do so, but instead had settled down comfortably beneath a tree. The grass had grown sad and brittle where he'd slept, bits of bones and splinters from his seemingly endless chewing sessions littered the place, there was a hole or two that he'd made to fight boredom. It had been his home for two weeks, and he was feeling a little bit sentimental to leave the place. He kicked up dirt and dust, quickly deeming that it was stupid to feel attached to the mess of dead grass and dirt, and followed the call. Larkin walked without a limp now, the old scabs had faded to scars. He seemed chipper, and felt unlike himself.

He wasn't himself, he knew. He had a reason to be in a good mood, though. He was going north, putting space between his old life and his new. The silvery man's tail happily swished from side to side as he caught the end of the conversation. Or, this was the beginning, he supposed. Alastor was before them, bloodied from his breakfast. Larkspur, again unlike himself, stayed a respectful distance from both of the yearlings. "Greetings, Alastor... Sahalie," he nodded to each. "Did you forget to tell your boyfriend that I was coming?"

Larkspur stretched again, feeling new and free of the pain in his shoulder. Lark turned to Al, and gave him a — was that a genuine smile? "She's put a lot of good faith in us for us to behave, and play nice. Wouldn't want to let her down, would we?"

Ruenna Tainn
askdhfskdkjgdhk how did i miss this

It was tiiiiiiime! The idea of being able to go far beyond the ever-constricting walls of the pack territory was like a drug, and she didn't even care that they were going somewhere specific and then turning back (as opposed to the aimless wandering she was used to) because they were going to meet more family, more Tainns! The world was okay again, a little less suffocating. She skipped as she answered the call, anticipating a fun and jubilant journey with Sahalie and Al, it was gonna be a great time.

At the sight of those two wolves, her elation grew - and then was tempered when she spotted Larkspur approach. He was just here to see them off, right? Right? Sahalie wouldn't invite along such a killjoy, would she? Catching the tail end of Larkspur's greeting as she bounced forward (for while the idea of their journey had now been potentially soured, you could hardly tell from the grin on her face and wag in her tail) she yipped in greeting, shooting the older man a wink in acknowledgement of their... antagonistic relationship. It wasn't like he was the first wolf to ever dislike her company - she just wasn't used to not being able to peace out and never have to interact with them again. But for some reason he'd been allowed into the pack and Rue wasn't a free agent any more, so, for the first time, her paws were tied. Guess they were just stuck with each other.

"Whaddup, guys! We good to go? My paws've been itchin' for days. Let's get this show on the road!"
