Danica
They didn't smell of home, or Gent, but instead very different. The woods they called home was also unusual. Perhaps even a bit creepy to the she-wolf. Danica stood inches away, half considering turning around and forgetting the very concept of her idea. The only thing keeping her grounded though was hope, hope they would be nice enough to help. Hope she could find her family and be granted forgiveness.

Sucking in a dry nervous breath the scrawny scavenger lifted her head. She howled out towards the skies, a non urgent call asking for anyone's response. Danica was a mere heap of bones, reeking of old carcasses she had found and nibbled on here and there. Whatever it took to stay alive. Some things she had ate made her sick, others just plain gross but sustaining.

Finishing off her melody she returned her head to a comfortable position and awaited her fate while standing. No, she was not here to join any band of strangers...but hopefully be pointed back to what used to be her home.

Mako Coho
@Danica

Mako was so DONE with being babysat. He didn't like being with the other puppies. They were loud and smelly and talked too much and asked too many questions. Marina was okay, he supposed, but he couldn't take another minute of looking at the rest of them. He had waited for the perfect moment, and found his opportunity when his peers were thoroughly distracted by the appearance of a dragonfly to dash for the bushes.

His oversize paws beat a hasty if not awkward escape over the woodland terrain, finding himself on a somewhat familiar trail that became more and more unfamiliar the further he went. He had expected somebody to chase after him, and waited to hear someone shouting his name, but it never came. Not even @Marina's soft voice called after him, which perturbed him. Nobody had noticed him leave? Did nobody care? He snorted. Fine, he didn't need them anyways!

His sprint slowed to a casual saunter once he was convinced that no one was coming for him. He paused as the most peculiar sound rose from further ahead, a sinuous howl sung by a voice he'd never heard before. His head twisted this way and that as he listened. What in the world? He had to know! Pace renewed, he trotted further towards the border, not even a care in the world as he passed it with little consequence.

Mako boldy strode towards the pale coated wolf, his eyes wide at first from seeing his first ever stranger. But his eyes quickly narrowed to slits, fire kindled in the amber heart of irises faintly ringed in blue.

"Who're you," He demanded, the thin little banner of his tail stiffly waving high behind his back.

OCC: Thanks for replying!

A child?

Perplexed the white wolf quickly stepped back from him. Her weary dark green eyes frantically begun to peer about for angry parents or pack mates. She smelt the air in caution, an ambush the least of her desires in such a state. Alone? Danica looked down at the whelp, reminded of her son's dark features, but the lack of his familiar eyes disappointing her. This youth also sported lighter colors unlike her little Daniel. Deciding it best the woman allowed her ears into a submissive position, tail curling underneath herself. Sighing the Lieris replied, "I am Danica, young Prince..." She trailed off, questioning why it was a pup answering her call. Her noise twitched, once more making sure his family remained in the area. She rather not meet them in a displeasing way, but it was best to make sure he wasn't abandoned either.

"Where are your caretakers? I wish to speak to one of them and find out if the Lore is nearby." Hopefully this wasn't too much for the puff-ball to understand, but she held her doubts. Daniel would've been lost amongst so many words at this age and perhaps not even know he lived within the Lore. At least, that's what the mother thought. Her chest ached as she looked down at the child before her. The woman missed her little blessing, her Daniel, who would've and should have been a yearling by now. Strong and beside his mother with pride in his eyes. She should be the alpha, by birthright, of Secret Woodlands with him as the heir. Titan as her partner and male lead. Another sigh, for such things would never be and shouldn't be dwelled on. She lived on in honor of Daniel, surely the child would want his mother to try to be happy.

Mako Coho

It was Mako's turn to stare at the woman with a perplexed expression. What had she called him? A young... What? Prince? He wasn't even sure if that was supposed to be a compliment or an insult. But before he could even figure out what she was talking about, she continued, asking where his "caretakers" were. He didn't get why, after all, he could answer her question perfectly fine. He knew everyone in the pack, but he'd never met or even heard of someone named Thelore. He was sure if they existed he would have seen them before.

"No Thelore here. You can go away now. Buh-bye." Case closed, simple as that. He toddled forward, step by step before stopping uncomfortably close to her, as if his tiny body was enough to push her back. His little snout pointed straight up at her towering form, trying to give Danica the same firm, unwavering look his mamma gave him when he pulled on her tail too much.

And in case that wasn't enough to deter her and send her on her on her way, Mako suddenly ducked down, launching himself with little pomp nor circumstance towards Danica's ankle with needle sharp milk-teeth bared and ready to sink into anything they found.

Danica

Danica had fully expected one or more adults to have come storming in by now, with narrowed eyes and scowling faces. Why was it, that she, a stranger, had been able to get so close to one of their pups? It made her uneasy, would if he wasn't a young prince? But someone's bastard child the pack only took care of out of pure pity? The woman frowned.

The whelp's next set of words surprised her, being rather rude and such. *No, the Lore here?* She questioned within her mind before the cute little guy got all up in her space, and instinctively she stepped back, before realizing she had even done such. "Now hold on a moment please, young Prince." She started, trying to think of how to 'puppy down' her questions so that he might understand, "Where here? Lore place, not wolf." She offered a sweet smile, hopeful this was something he could properly comprehend. Apparently he was not a patient little whelp, suddenly beneath the woman, milk teeth causing pinpricks of blood to form. Her eyes squeezed shut and she groaned in displeasure, that sure was one thing she didn't miss about having a pup.  Carefully she attempted to dislodge the tiny pest from her ankle.

"What was that for?" She asked as patiently as manageable, taking a few side steps away from the child. *Little rat* Danica thought to herself, but on the outside tried to remain as friendly and submissive looking as possible towards someone smaller than herself. Just in case there was any off-chance one of his caregivers were spying on them, of course. "Nevermind that, where are your pack mates?" Her voice remained friendly, but a more persistent note lingered. She needed answers and of course was determined to get them. "I'm looking for my family, maybe yours knows them?" She suggested, knowing this was for sure information the little tyrant would not be able to give her. Hopefully he'd get his parents soon, or someone would come along. Preferably friendly, but hey, answers were answers if she could get them.

Mako Coho

Despite the woman's attempts to dislodge the boy, Mako held onto her ankle steadfast like a barnacle. Unfortunately, he hadn't gotten the reaction he'd expected from her -- utter terror. She even had the gall to start babbling at him like he was a little baby! He allowed himself to be dragged by his jaws a few feet before finally letting go, picking himself up and scowling at the white-coated female.

He'd said his piece, and even gave her the teeth that should have backed it up, but here she was, still standing there! She should have taken the chance And she had the gall to ask even more questions! "You're so nosy," Mako groaned. Truly, Danica hadn't even asked that much, but Mako just didn't feel like answering so many things for someone he didn't know at all. Maybe for his Mamma or Marina or maybe even Serach he could answer all these questions, but this stranger? He didn't owe her anything.

Mako scowled, his lips turned down at the corners of his white-flecked muzzle. She wanted an answer, did she? "They drowned. You can't talk to them." He lied. "Go away." That was his final warning. Next time he wouldn't be letting go of her leg.

Danica
(Welp, looks like that was her last straw...)

Danica was annoyed as the little rat held on to her, causing sharp pains to shoot up her leg. She went to shake her paw more harshly, but thank havens the child had already let her go. *Danica, remember, you're the adult here.* The Lieris forced a fake smile on her lips, "Come on kid, I don't mean no trouble." She pleaded through clenched jaws, masking her frustration to the best of her ability. Her tail picking up a small wag, *Come on somebody, I just want to know where the hell I am, is that too much to ask for?* The child's answer caused her lips to twinge a little, but she held back still. "And you're so rude." The woman blatantly stated, starting to lose her whole concept of even trying to act mature. Still she sighed and apologized, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't call you that little Prince...just please let me speak to your elders." Perhaps her persistence was a touch too much and rather annoying, but this was a food-deprived and desperate loner.

And that's when he said it. The white beast's face at first drained of all emotion, the death in her eyes increasing as they grew dark. Her heartbeat picked up, the primal like creature swiftly moving to stand tall over the almost helpless whelp. Her face became twisted in a snarl, the growl that cut loose a blood curdling sound, followed by the clacking of her teeth as the unhinged monster snapped at air. "Death, young Prince, is NOTHING to joke about." However, when the furious wolf spoke, more pain filled her voice than anger. Pain of losing Tacoma. Pain of losing Hollow, Ashton, Titan, Hudson...but the greatest pain was that of her son. Even the mere idea of Gent's passing left her reeling, he was her only family now, not even Nina could love her after all that had happened. Of course, Dani couldn't truly prove that, but she could belive it with all her heart and might. Her current actions too, were wrong and foolish, her misery no excuse of what she was about to do.

With one last powerful snarl in the boy's face she bent her neck backwards, then full throttled her head forward, aiming to send the boy off his tiny paws. To send the rat into the dirt and out of breath. And if that failed she went to nip him wherever she could, not hard enough to draw blood or leave a mark, but cause a squealish yelp. Then, finally, satisfied with her attempts she wheeled around on her paws, no doubt his family would come running at the sound of her anger, and sprinted off. While most would think a wolf of her health wouldn't be able to flee so quickly, Danica was fueled by the increasing fear within her chest. What she had done was idiotic and could cause her much harm should they pursue her.

As she ran the smell of a deer became increasingly strong, causing her to slow down. It was risky, but the woman stopped to tear off a chunk before continuing her race. Danica Leiris would go as fast as she could for as long as her tattered body could handle. Nothing would stop her if she could get past it. Legs reached out to carry her across the land in frantic movements, the half dead animal pushing her frail form...

(Exit unless someone catches up with her, of course. Follow up threads welcomed if no one intervenes her leave.)

(EDIT: Ugh, I forgot about her bad leg! I am so sorry, so technically she couldn't be going super fast, but at a reasonable speed for a scared s**tless wolf with a bum leg.)

Aponi Donata
@Danica I couldn't resist and neither could Aponi

Aponi had heard the weak call come from the borders but had dismissed it with little more than a flick of her silver ear. Serach or Spieden would deal with it accordingly, it was not her responsibility to deal with loners who came calling. And frankly the call sounded a little pathetic so the mother doubted that anything would come of whatever it was they wanted anyways. Then again Sahalie was always bringing home strays, perhaps this was just another friend of hers.

She had returned to play with @Lila until the sound of snarling reached her. That was something she couldn't ignore. Calling for one of the yearlings and waiting from them to arrive Aponi was at the border quicker than ever she could have hoped for. What awaited her there was not a pretty sight and instantly her hackles flared. So this no good loner thought she could come calling at their borders and attack a child!?

It took only two or three bounds before the silver woman was practically on top of the duo, fangs snapping at the loner in an attempt to get her teeth into anything that she could, hopefully one of her legs to slow the flee. This woman would pay if she thought she could torment the children of Oak Tree Bend. Mako may not have been hers but Aponi would get vengeance as if he was. there were so many litters this spring it took the whole pack to protect and raise them, regardless of whose blood they were.

Inactive VI. Yearling
Drift Tainn
A wild loner Drift appears!

He had told them he would be back, he just needed a little time, before the snows set in - he had promised. But it would seem his feet had other ideas. These familiar trees were a welcome sight for once, and he actually smiled, his tail waving steadily at his slender back. The prospect of puppies had terrified him but now? He wasn't so sure it would be terrible to get to know them. He wasn't proud that he had left when they clearly needed his help, but he was no good to anyone in the state he had been in.

When the strangers howl went up, he diverted his course, trusting he was just as likely to meet @Serach or @Triell dealing with the stranger (unawares of his fathers injuries and the latest shift in ranks), what came into view when he finally reached them was a white female nipping towards a small dark pup that could very well be his own brother. A snort of air was all the warning he would give. He was out of @Aponi's line of sight when she called for a yearling, adding his own charge to hers but coming from the opposite side to help pin the woman down. A bark of alarm was sent out to summon either his cousin or surrogate mother. Judging by the look in Aponi's eyes the pelt of this one would be left out to dry unless they intervened (and he had no problems helping her do so unless commanded otherwise).
