Pack Hunt - on the way to the full marshlands to take down large prey from nearby herds, Pip stumbles upon a very unhappy resident.

A pack hunt! It would be Pip's first ever and she was more than excited for it. The mute Mizuno followed along with her packmates south of their territory towards the more open marshlands where they may find bigger prey. According to a few scouting trips from the others, there were herds of deer moving through at a steady pace, stocking up for the ever-coming winter.Though Pip didn't wander far from the others, she was far more adventurous and curious than ever before. A lone cedar tree ahead caught her attention and she trotted up to peer at it curiously. There was an interesting aura surrounding it; the air around it seemed still compared to the wind that swept through the marshes otherwise. So strange... The sea wolf had never been a big believer in higher powers, but in the shade of this tree, she could see why others would.Even in the stillness at the base of the tree, a powerful, odd musk blasted her nose. Concerned, she peeked behind the tree and nearly came face to face with just about the ugliest deer she'd ever seen in her entire life. It's muzzle was swollen as if it had stuck its face inside a hornet's nest and been unable to get itself free until after permanent damage was already done. Far more impressive and concerning than its ugly mug were the high stacks of antlers over its head. The moose's hot breath blasted angrily in her face while its beard dragged in the marsh water it was standing knee-deep in. The mute girl gave an audible gulp and slowly backed around the tree, hoping that ugly bee-stung deer would forgive her intrusion and not impale her. No such luck. Her platitudes were ignored. In a panic, she chipped and chirped, the sound a soft alarm for her nearby packmates, as she ran full tilt away from the now pursuing animal with her tail tucked. Do not want, do not want! Sorry, sorry, sorry!

Veho Macieo

It felt good to finally get out and about on a proper hunt – not just a quick jaunt to fill his own belly or bring something back for hungry little mouths.  Not just Veho, but the rest of Grizzly Hollow in force.  It would assure them a much bigger prize than if it were only one or two wolves who’d set out for a hunt.  There were plenty of items out in the cedar forest for them to choose from, so it was simply a matter of watching and waiting, finding something appropriate.

He threw a glance over his shoulder for @Oula, ears flickering as he communicated silently with his partner in command.

It might have continued, had a frantic chirping not filled the air a moment later.  “Pip!” Veho hissed, his pale eyes widening.  Pivoting, he moved in the direction of the echoed sounds quickly, ears straining as he sought out the young wolf – he’d grown quite fond of her as time went on.  An adopted sister, perhaps, a member of his family that went far beyond blood.  Hurrying over a carpet of fallen pines, his nostrils flared in alarm at the scent.  Moose.  Moose.

“Pip, get out of there!”

Veho gave a short bark to summon the others; the hunt had found them.

Yvly Doramor

To be on a proper pack hunt had the blood in her veins practically singing. Too long had she spent her time chasing rabbits and various species of fowl. Her body ached to pursue a creature of prey until it could no longer run, to have the rest of the pack around her bring it down. That had been her way of life back home on the plains, and for the first time in what was likely months, she would have the chance to do it again. However, her soaring spirits soon plummeted at Veho's summoning bark. Something bad had happened. Her blood ran cold. It was always dangerous taking on large prey, and if someone had gone one on one against it... well, it would not be good.

Breaking into a run, the tawny female kicked up dirt behind her as she followed Veho's summons, breath hitching in her throat as she could only imagine who it was and what had happened. As she neared, the faint sounds of Pip's chirps was an onslaught on her ears. They sounded frantic. Not Pip! Heart plunging down into her stomach at the thought of Pip being hurt, Yvly forced herself to go faster. She could spot Veho's form in the distance. He, too, was running full pelt. The overwhelming musk of moose assaulted her senses. She could only imagine Pip had unknowingly angered a moose, and an angry moose was a dangerous moose. Barking loudly, she let Veho know of her presence as she swiftly followed him. Maybe they could flank the moose, distract it until others arrived so they outnumbered it. That way it might think twice of attacking. Might.
