It definitely had a bit of a learning curve, figuring out how to work together, different sleeping patterns, him getting use to her waking him up early in the morning. In her defense, he had literally asked for it! She promised to be back soon, but she had started to wander into the creek… it must’ve been a couple hours since she left the gigantic forest in favor of the new landscape, her chocolate eyes staying peeled for prey that she could take down and potentially bring back. That was all Winter was to her – a season of hunger and constant hunting.

That was okay, though. She had a friend to help her through it this time, and she could help him in return. The one thing she worried about the most was the case of sickness or injury… she didn’t know a single thing about herbs, and she didn’t ask him if he did either but given what she knew about him, she found it safe to assume he didn’t… she could be surprised though. She’d have to ask him sometime, but for now she really needed to focus. She had to get her head in the game, her tail swaying softly from side to side as she kept her frame low to the ground, much like she was slinking around looking for trouble… in actuality she was just looking for food.

With everything that had happened Yvly just needed to get out and away from it all; to take a breather amongst the quietly swirling creek was what she wanted at that moment. Peace and quiet. No one to disturb her thoughts or make the ground tremble beneath her feet. Yes she was glad Oula had returned, but with her presence came an uncertainty that the Tawny Leader feared would cause chaos in the pack. She had only just become accustomed to her ascension in the ranks, and to have the feeling of it being ripped right out from under her was... distressing, to say the least. It was only logical that Oula would challenge up to claim back the role of leader to better care for her children, but as of that moment she was unsure of how she would react once it had been propositioned.

Chuffing loudly, the Tawny Leader shook her head of those thoughts and focused on the peaceful sounds of the creek she was walking alongside. This adventure from the pack territory was meant for her to relax, not think about what the future may hold. She continued on her path, body in a partially relaxed state but ears and eyes on the constant alert. She had learned during her time in the land that whenever she was not paying attention something bad or unwanted happened, and it would do her no good to get hurt when it was such a crucial period. Dark amber eyes narrowed as she came to a halt, squinting slightly as she observed a dark shape moving not too far away. Sniffing the air she detected the scent of wolf, and though they were quite a ways from Grizzly Hollow she did lift her head a little higher to gaze silently at the other, waiting for them to make the first move.

Maera Slayer

The search continued, set in her quest to find herself something to eat, and perhaps enough for Kerb if he hadn’t managed to find something on his own… it was interrupted however by a chuffing sound, her ears perking as her nose wrinkled, her tail freezing, alert as she looked around to figure out where it was coming from, and more importantly who was making it. The swarthy woman crept through the land surrounding the creek, heading towards the water as she locked her sight on the wolf she was looking for, curiosity hinting at her features, but alarm catching in the back of her mind. The wolf was undoubtedly from a pack.

She was multi-colored, dark amber eyes as Maera crept a little closer, her crown tipping to the side as she let out a soft bark to make her presence known to the woman. She hadn’t smelled a border, so she knew she wasn’t trespassing, though she was curious as to how close she was to wherever the wolf in front of her had come from. She did not lower her tail; it was not a part of her nature, her eyes locking on the female curiously as she examined her. She was trying to channel the chipper energy of her travelling companion and act friendly… but wolves and being social were hard.

“Hello.” She greeted hesitantly as she looked at her further, like she was sizing her up, if only for defensive reasons in case things turned sour.

Forgive me for the wait e_e

It did not take long for the other wolf to make their presence known with a soft bark. Yvly was met with a hesitant greeting and staring brown eyes from the female. They were much the same size, though the other sported a black coat. Tawny ears rotated forward as she turned her body to fully face the darker female, noting how while she seemed to be scrutinizing her, she did not make any suggestive motions. "Hello," the Tawny Leader responded back in a neutral tone, not seeing any reason to be aggressive or friendly. She was not in the mood to make buddies with the local lone wolves and could not bring herself to try and persuade the other to join the Hollow. If that was what ended up happening she would count it as a bonus, but with the high-strung tensions in the pack she did not wish to allow a stranger into the mix and possible make it worse. For the pack or the darker female.

It was with a furtive glance to the cedarwood forest that Yvly introduced herself using her moniker that was required by all the wolves of the pack when meeting with outsiders. "I'm Crystal. I lead the pack directly to the west." She cut straight to the chase as making small talk at that moment would just make everything worse. She was not good at it for starters and it would likely not end well. "Are you alone?" She queried, brows raising ever so slightly as she spoke. It would be good to know - for her and the pack - if there was a group of loners nearby that could potentially be a threat to them. That was the last thing they needed right now.

The woman seemed to greet her in a similar manner to how Maera had greeted the woman herself… just not hesitant, more neutral. The lone wolf had very little interest in this conversation other than the hope that she could figure out a location to the pack that’s scent so desperately clung to the woman’s fur. She introduced herself as Crystal, and a leader at that, a respectful nod in return though nothing more and nothing less when it came to actions. “It’s a pleasure, Crystal. I’m Maera.” She could appreciate the bluntness the other woman had offered to the conversation – small talk was ill-suited for her and she often found it tedious to wait through.

A pack directly to the west. She noted it in her brain to stay away from there unless it could not be avoided. Are you alone? Well, that was a complicated answer. Technically she was, but at the same time she was not. How did she answer it? Complicated. It was probably better to explain that at that moment in time she was… if she was even going to answer to begin with. Then again, if she didn’t, things could turn violent and that was something the Slayer woman could not afford. “At the moment, I am… but I’m travelling with a friend and he’s not too far away.”
