Set a few days after this thread <3
Miccah has been struck with a slightly severe case of pneumonia. The pack is welcome to post but Puppy and I would like the first couple of rounds for just us and then anyone can post if they wish :)

He should have seen it coming, should have noticed the signs, but the king had too many other worries to add his health onto the list. When @Gent had come to visit with his family, he had felt a little odd but had just pushed the feeling away. Now, of all times, he regretted not going to his wife and telling her the truth of how he had been feeling. Yet, even as the dark king shakily made his way towards the medicinal den, his worries for his pack were at the forefront of his mind. Bane was gone, and the king had not seen him since that fateful day of Nina's death. He didn't think the boy would come back, and that saddened him. He worried, and he knew Inali worried even more. But there was nothing the king could do, except hope that maybe he would come back when his grief wasn't so fresh and painful. Duckweed was also gone, but hopefully, he would return like he had stated. Although, Miccah understood that the boy needed time. He had lost his mother, after all, and the pack had lost a trusted pack mate and friend. It angered him, but his grief was greater. She had been a dear friend not only to him, but his wife. Thinking of all this grief made him think of Nina too and Miccah flinched at the pain that spread through him.  It still hurt, and Miccah knew from experience that with time the sting of grief would lessen but it would never truly go away.

His blue gaze was bleary, and fire seemed to settle in his lungs for it was becoming increasingly hard to breathe. The dark king stumbled slightly, his paws like lead, into the medicinal den Aideen had created. Feeling weak, the pain in his chest spreading, the dark king tried to fight his impending collapse but there was no use.

It was so strange how life could turn in a single moment. Bliss destroyed by an inevitable, yet devastating turn of nature. This time last year they'd been together, the golden queen passing on her years of knowledge and experience to her subject, as she had in all the time they knew each other. Now she was gone. It made everything bitter sweet, every aspect of the new queen's life rung with the memory of her mentor. Still she tried her best, to honor that memory, remember the good times as she patrolled the borders, tended to her pack mates and pups or gathered what few herbs were left in the winter woods. That was what she'd been doing today, taking a swift round of the familiar spots before tending to her medicinal den. Clearing out the space and putting everything in order seemed the best way of keeping her mind off her grief.

The cold season had hit Secret Woodlands hard, while they'd been well prepared for the expected hardships, so much had struck out of nowhere. Nina was not their only loss. It was a dark mood that hung over the otherwise so cheerful alphess as she cleaned old bedding from the den floor and sorted out the herbs that had gone bad since her last inventory. For a long time they had been happy, thriving, growing…

Aideen's gloomy thoughts were interrupted by the sudden sound of commotion at the den opening. Spinning around, her eyes went wide as she saw her mate stagger into the tight space. It was clear from every inch of his being that something was not right, the slow wobble of his legs threatening to cave in with every step. "Darling!" She exclaimed as he collapsed on the floor, rushing to his side; "What is it? What's wrong?" Her nose prodded gently at him, prompting a response. First cheek and chin, then ribs. In the back of her mind a panicked voice cried with fear; No, no not you too! But the trained healer didn't let it through her professional exterior. Instead she examined her husband thoroughly, prodding a little harder, searching for pain. Her nose touched to his and she flinched slightly, brows furrowing against the heat. Clenching her teeth, she instantly began working through her mental directory, figuring out how to help her patient. Her next questions fell in a more demanding voice: "Tell me what hurts? For how long?" She was first and foremost the medic now, all affect and worry pushed to the back of her mind, focus on diagnosis and treatment.
