OOC! @Draven Back dated to a week ago or so. Set at early morning.

It was beginning to get dark out. That time of day where the sky is changing colors and ones visibility begins to diminish. The day had been uneventful for the ebony leader. As she walked along the boarders during her last patrol for the day she was surprisingly clam and actually happy. The feelings caught her off gaurd and there was a part of her that was suspicious. She didn't remember becoming happy she just was. Her internal conflict was soon squashed as an external one presented itself. Unfamiliar scents along the boarders with no one insight. Going to investigate her coal nose inhaled deeply. Her eyes went wide with the realization that not only one but numerous wolves had crossed into her home. Her horror only intensified as her ears picked up the snarls and screams of her family. Taking off without a single thought she sprinted as fast as she could to her pack. Reaching them in moments silver eyes widened to see ghostly black forms ripping them apart. Lunging towards one of the intruders her jaws snapped on what she thought was a wolf but turned out to be thin air. Confused and horrified when she turned her attention back to the wolves of Fallen Tree Cove all she saw were their bodies bloodied and battered. The shadow wolves turned their attentions to the temporary alpha their glowing red eyes locked on her. They laughed and mocked her. See what happens when you try to lead? You cant protect them. Youre nothing. You cant do this. You should have stayed gone. She collasped her eyes filling with tears as they played on every insecurity she had. The shadow forms moved closer before all lunging at her.

Jolting awake she was met with a ceiling to the head. Wincing at the blow she slowly went outside her small den. Her breathing slowing from its rapid pace as silver orbs did their best to assess the situation. It was morning, there were no screams, no ghostly wolves, nothing. It all had been just a nightmare, a vivid one at that. Moonshadow hadnt expericed a nightmare since losing her birth family. A whine left her maw as she desperately didn't want to go back to sleep. Luckily for the dark woman the sky had begun to brighten thus marking the beginning of the day so she had a couple of options. She could start her patrol, or she could go and get a drink and/or snack from the lake. Deciding on the first of the two options the midnight woman made her way to the border. She walked slowly as her mind went over the dream multiple times. It had felt so real and everything those - wolves demons - said. Was it true? The temporary lake queens fear had all been reborn. Any progress on squashing them was obliterated. Silver dusted ears laid flat against her head that hung low. Mercury eyes set upon the path in front of her but did little to actually register what was there. Her mind ran rampid causing her to not pay attention to where she was walking. Some rocks had been moved by some hibernating animal and there was a sharp jagged one sticking just enough out of the snow that it could have been avoided. This however would not be the case for the large female. Yelpping with pain Moonshadow was pulled back to reality as a sharp pain invaded her paw. The jagged rock had made its way between her toes, slicing her paw pad as well as the skin between her toes. The crimson red blood stained the snow around the rock as dark haunches sat upon the frozen ground. Silently cursing at her self for not watching where she was going, Moon did her best to assess the damage.

The boy spent most nights sleeping in the infirmary, not because he was injured but rather just because he preferred it there. Recently though he had been forced to spend more time in the communal den, the bitter cold requiring more body heat than the yearling could provide himself. On nights like those he planted himself in @Namid's vague vicinity but far enough that he wasn't touching anyone. Tonight had been one of those nights. However he had awoken with a start as the sound of a dull thud reverberated around the den. Perking up Draven saw Moonshadow exit the den and glanced around to see that the others were still sleeping soundly.

Standing he stretched, careful not to disturb any of his packmates before exiting the den himself. His breath left his nostrils in thick tails of smoke, being carried away in gusts of wind the second it left his body. Aiming himself towards the infirmary he had almost made it when he heard the sound of a yelp coming from the borders. Without a second thought Draven changed his course and made quick work of reaching Moonshadow. Silently mossy green eyes noticed the blood in the snow and the way that the leader held her paw up and away from the ground. Coming forward he looked over the slice that she had given herself, nothing he couldn't fix he supposed. Glancing up towards her he sighed, "You should come back to the infirmary with me and let me get a look at it." There wasn't much he could do for her now out in the blowing wind and snow.

Bright red spots dotted the snow around the dark jagged rock. The pain that accompanied the blood wasnt at all unbareable, she had most definitely felt much worse. Her mind momentarily drifted back to the bear incident and glanced at her flank - much worse. She rolled her eyes at herself for being so silly. She would survive even if it meant she'd be uncomfortable for a while. Just when the dark leader was about to stand and continue her patrol a voice echoed through the trees. Moon jumped to her paws nearly stepping on the jagged rock. Her hackles rose and she almost bared her teeth until her mercury pools settled on the familiar dark form of Draven. She smoothed her fur and her ears planed out in embarrassment. Obviously he had heard her yelp, why else would the aspiring medic happen to show up after she's hurt herself. She didn't think it was very leader like to go and get hurt. While it wasn't a big injury she still felt ashamed but decided to not protest. He was training to be a medic right? So in reality she was actually helping a pack mate...right?

She nodded her coal colored skull and followed the yearlings lead back to the infirmary. She walked carefully through the rocky terrain making sure not to slip in the icy surfaces. The temp leader was silent on the way to the den due to watching where she walked. Once they arrived allowed the dark boy teen to enter first then she followed. She placed her dark haunches on the cool ground and held her paw above the ground. Silver eyes swept over the room studying the neat and organized piles of dried herbs. How interesting she thought thinking it must be a lot of information to take in and remember. She was pulled back from her thoughts once the raven pelted boy began to speak. Silver dusted ears pressed forward to catch what her 'doctor' would say about her predicament.

2/3 Healing

Draven allowed the pair to walk in silence, glad that Moonshadow wasn't trying to force conversation while he mentally went through what herbs he had stored in the infirmary. With the onset of winter things were beginning to dwindled as they had no way to refill them but he thought - barring any unfortunate circumstances - that they would deal alright. Reaching the low entrance to medical den he ducked inside, his long limbs bending so he could fit his large frame through the small hole.

His green eyes adjusted quickly to the darkness, he spent most of his time within the infirmary so it was something he was used to. Glancing back to make sure Moon made it inside alright he offered her a brief smile that he hoped would instill confidence that he knew what he was doing. Grabbing a few herbs from the neat piles that they were in he paused, "How is the pain? Do you need anything for it?" The hellebore lay just before him but he hesitated, if the leader thought she needed it he had no problem giving it to her but he didn't want to use herbs if her pain was okay. Something much worse might come up later and then he would be cursing himself.

The infirmary was dark and it took a few moment for the woman's eyes to become adjusted. Once they were she took in all the herbs. How wonderful if would be to be able to always learn about things. It made her think about what role she would want to hold within the pack after Namid reclaimed her throne. She couldn't do healer since both the boy before her and the lake princess were training in that field, maybe there was something else. She was pulled from her thoughts as Draven asked her a question. She started for a moment until his words actually registered. Pain - how much pain was she in? While the initial cut had be a bit painful and walking wouldn't be very comfortable, Moonshadow thought that it was manageable. Anyways what kind of leader needed pain medicine? What kind of leader for hurt at all?

"Its fine. Nothing unbareable" she replied looking at where he had paused. There didnt seem to be very much in that pile and she was happy with her decision. Save that for someone in real pain. She watched him gather some more dried plants and figured since she had had much interaction with the boy this would be a good time to check up on him. "So what made you decide to become a healer?" She asked, genuinely curious. She figured a non invasive question would be best to start out with instead of asking how he felt about the rank change.

I am so sorry this took so long!
3/3 Healing, 6/12 overall

Draven was almost relieved that Moonshadow declined the pain but her hesitance caused him to study her face carefully. In the end though he merely nodded and walked away from the hellebore, if she changed her mind he would give it to her without question. Studying over what else he could give her he gathered a small amount of chaga mushroom and wormwood, as well as a small amount of dried moss that he had piled in a corner. Gently he placed the bundle before the alpha and he settled down before her almost in a lounged position so he could get a better view of her paw.

Luckily the slice seemed to have clean enough edges, the yearling was fairly confident that this would heal well. Nudging the mushroom towards her he gave his first instruction, "Eat a little bit of this, it's a chaga mushroom and it will boost your immune system which should help prevent infection. You'll need to come back every day for seven days to get some." Green eyes watched closely as the woman followed his instruction to be sure that she understood. Then he got back to work on her paw, "I'm going to apply some of this wormwood to the wound, it helps it heal faster then I'll get you to press down on this moss to stop the bleeding." The wormwood was dried and already flaking so he didn't chew the plant to make it moist, it became soft enough just from him using his jaws to apply it.

Her question made him pause in surprise, Draven's eyes lifting to meet hers for a brief moment before he pushed the moss forward for her to press on. Tilting his head slightly to the side he answered as diplomatically as he could, "A member of my old pack got sick very quickly and we couldn't help her. I didn't want to ever have my pack lose someone like that again." No mention that this person was his mother, that was a secret he just wasn't willing to spill.

OOC! No worries sorry bout the wait too! 7/12 posts

Her hesitation on the pain caused the boy to pause and study her face. She gave him a reassuring smile which seemed to be enough for him for he nodded his head and moved on. Silver eyes watched as his dark form moved over and selected three more plants. The first was a mushroom that would help boost her immune system and that she would have to go everyday for seven days to eat some. Nodding the temporary alpha reached down and took the fungus between her jaws and began to chew. The juices were bitter as they hit her salmon tongue. She had to close her eyes to keep herself from gaging. Once finished her silver dusted ears pressed forwards to catch his next instructions. The young medic was going to apply a different plant to her wound and then she was to place it on some moss. Nodding once more with a small smile she lifted her paw so that he wouldn't have to reach down so far.

As he worked she asked him why he wanted to be a medic. The question seemed to surprise him. He looked up once he was finished applying the wormwood meeting her gaze briefly before pushing the moss towards her. Being a good patient Moonshadow placed her paw upon the pile of moss and pressed gently as to not hurt it too much. Her attention was drawn back to him as @Draven answered her question. "A member of my old pack got sick very quickly and we couldn't help her. I didn't want to ever have my pack lose someone like that again." That answer was not what she was expecting. Dark ears fell back in sympathy for she knew what it was like to loose some one, even if the circumstances weren't the same. "I am very sorry to hear that and for your loss. Its very kind of you though to want to devote yourself to helping others" she offered a kind smile not knowing of her words would help at all.

As Moonshadow did her best to hide her discomfort while chewing on the bitter mushroom Draven looked politely at her paw. He knew how it felt to be attempting to swallow down some herbs while others stared at your face, it almost made it harder to take. This was his first real patient and despite the injury being minor his heart would still pound with exhilaration when the woman left the den. Even something as small as a cut could turn into a nasty infection if not properly looked after, particularly when they occur on a paw which spends all day in the dirt.

The green eyes watched closely to be sure that Moon was applying enough pressure into the moss to appropriately stanch the bleeding. Or at least, that's why he told himself he couldn't raise his eyes after giving her his response. If he was being honest with himself the reason would have been that he was trying to avoid the look of pity he knew would be marring her muzzle. An expression that surely would have only worsened if she had known that it had been his mother and he had been merely four months old.

Draven's gaze didn't stay down for long as it fluttered up in surprise at her remark. Smiling timidly back at her olive branch he attempted to lighten the mood, "I'm not sure I would call squirreling myself away in here all day devoting myself to other but thank you." The tone came out a little forced but it was an attempt to say the least. He may be good with the herbs but his bed side manner could use a little work.

OOC! 9/12

The pressure on the cut was sharp but she knew it was what she had to do. So she sat and leaned on the injury. The news of why Draven had taken up medicine hit a soft spot in the temp alpha. So she wasn't the only one to lose someone from another pack. Her words seemed to catch the boy off guard as he quickly looked up at her. He gave her a smile that was happily returned with one of her own. He told her that hiding away in the infirmary wasn't devotion in his mind but thanked her anyways. "Everyone learns differently but you should give yourself more credit." She replied her warm smile remaining. She truly believed her words, for someone to take up helping others it was a very selfless thing to do.

A few moments of silence passed after the boys remark and the dark woman felt it was a good time as ever to ask how he was holding up. She knew that Namid had saved him from the mountain. After taking down the black bear the two had talked while both being required to stay close to the infirmary. Moon figured that he would always remain loyal to the pale queen, not that she would ever ask anyone not to be. She just wanted to make sure the inky boy knew that she would never replace the queen but she would be there if he needed anything. "How are you holding up with everything thats happened?" Her tone was kind and not prying. If he wanted to talk she'd be there to listen but if not that was fine too.
