RE:The stars are unusually bright tonight. Maybe because it's also unusually cold.. brr. AW

The sun had already set, and the sky was a deep shade of indigo. She wasn't even nearly home. But, the dark, silver wolf kept her steady gait, still heading south. She had thought her time plenty. A half day hunting, and the other half to get back, but perhaps she'd danced a little too long with that mink. It had been worth it, though. She'd been able to steal his meal, and now she would need the fuel to keep warm tonight.

The further her legs stretched, the colder it became. She kept thinking maybe she should just stop, and give herself a rest. Eyes searched the sky, not see a single cloud to be seen. Only the stars lighting up the whole sky, and landscape below. Strange. Well, she'd picked a great night not to get back to the fields. Oh well. She'd been out here enough alone, another night wouldn't hurt. She had to go just a little further, that might offer some form of safety.

Soon a hill greeted her beneath the bright lights. Out here in the tundra, it would have to do. At least she could keep an eye out from up there. She eased up the slope, wisps of silver fleeing from her open jaws. Gold eyes cut across the land, taking in the beauty, and breathing in the sharp air. She hadn't thought this place very pretty until then. The glint of the snow, and the frost that sparkled over the vegetation that dared show its face. It as like the plains where her pack had hunted, but this place was more harsh. Without thought her paws guided her forward to find a bed, when she saw the rather white circle of antlers interlocked. What was the meaning of that? They were similar to the weird elk things she'd come across. Did those beasts gather in groups to fight?
