Askan Selwyn
@Phoenix sue me beccu, I'm hankering for even more Askix. Everyone else is welcome to join the hunt too! Askan has a potty mouth, so beware.

Trudging to a stop, Askan tilted his head skywards and let out a long, timbrous call.

It's true that this wasn't urgent, that he could have waited till the weather settled down, but you see that was the beauty of his plan. They wouldn't see this coming. Those annoying, petty little mongrels would just assume that they were safe and free to do whatever they wanted. After all, what sort fool would stumble about blindly in weather like this? Well, for one Askan wasn't stumbling, nor was he blind or a fool. He'd thought this through, probably more than he should have. But he just couldn't help it, he couldn't sit around twiddling his proverbial thumbs any longer.

He'd noticed the skulk-a fitting name, if Askan did say so himself- of foxes slinking around on the field the other day. At first, he hadn't really thought anything of it. It had just been the one and it had been far too preoccupied by launching itself face first into the snow to even notice his presence. Foxes were an annoyance for sure, but what harm could a single one do? But the next day, he'd seen another fox, as well as the first. And so on so forth. By the forth day he'd noticed four fucking foxes prancing about as though they owned the place! Were they dumb or were they nose blind? How could they have not realised that they were smack bang in the middle of a pack's territory? Maybe they didn't care, maybe they thought they could slip by unnoticed. Well no they fucking couldn't!

They had settled here, found a snug little den, or at least one of them had, and Askan was determined to put an end to their merry lifestyle. The Whitestone wolves clearly didn't take the Rye wolves seriously- which was insulting in of itself- but had they really sunk so low that the same could be said for foxes? Askan would be damned if he'd let this slide, they were going to have to make an example of these red menaces. And he was going to make sure it was a lesson they would never forget.

The Rye Fields were a comfortable home, so far. She hadn't been sure if her words would have gotten her in, but here she was. Something she was still more certain had to do with Askan than herself, but she let the thought slip by. It didn't matter. For the time being was trying to keep her word. Do the best she could. It wasn't hard to patrol the area, and if she had caught anything she tried to return it to an empty cache. She'd missed some meals on her journey, but not enough to deplete their resources. No, she had every mind to help them, and get to know them. Though she felt Askan had been right about their easy going nature. The jury was still out.

Light color paws tapped on the snow, covering her recent kill when Askan's voice rang in her ears. Nothing important, but an invitation. Nothing better to do, and curious what he was up to, she trotted over yonder. She was hopeful others would be there, but there was only the dark cloaked male. She carried herself neutrally, a faint smile on her light muzzle. Without a word she dropped to her haunches beside him, looking out where his own gaze lingered. "Foxes?" She questioned, as one went bobbing through the snow. She had noticed they were sorta thick, but had thought they didn't care. Apparently, not.

"You sure you can outsmart them?" A tease was evident, and she chuckled bumping his shoulder with hers. Gold eyes worked their way to his yellow stare, and her mask straightened. "What's the plan?"

For a few minutes, she considered ignoring Askan's call. After all no doubt that one would bound forth at the very sound of his voice and she had no interest in sharing time or breathing space with anyone but Askan. But what if Adelayde didn't go and Percy missed out on whatever fun Askan had dug out of the snow? Urgh, she supposed she'd go, but she was going to throw her flounciest skirt in her backpack for just in case.

When she finally found the man he had already been joined by another female, but at least this one had some understanding of personal space and didn't seem to go on and on and on... Phoenix would reserve her judgement until she could get a better look at the way the woman operated, and with the mention of foxes, well she supposed now was as good a time as any to start judging.

She let her tail wave happily behind her as she approached Askan, and even though jumping was no longer necessary to push her muzzle under his chin she still did it for good measure, a rough headbutt aimed at his jaw in playful greeting. "Whatcha found?"

Askan Selwyn

At first Askan hadn't been sure that anyone would turn up, after all he couldn't exactly see far with all of the snow billowing around him. But after a few moments or so, a dark figure emerged through the white and grey. Remington. Not exactly who he'd expected but she was a welcome addition nonetheless. The more packmates that joined him, the better. With their help they'd certainly be able to get rid of the red menace that plagued their field, it would simply be a matter of teamwork and coordination. Nothing too difficult, right?

Askan turned and greeted Remington with a- somewhat- amiable huff and a nod. He had just been about to explain what he wanted when she beat him to it, and even added a little tease at the end for good measure. The Yukon wolf rolled his eyes, his displeasure evident, but decided not to kick up too much of a fuss, like he would have if someone other than his packmate had said that. It wasn't that he was giving her special treatment, he simply was making an effort to get along with her. That's all.

"Of course I do." He huffed indignantly, his snout pointing up to the sky.

He'd just been about to explain his dastardly scheme when Percy entered the fray, chipper as always. Bowing down to meet her boop, Askan rumbled in greeting, his tail wagging just so as he did. It was likely an odd sight to see, this side of Askan, and whilst he wasn't fond of having an audience, he couldn't turn Percy down. There was no point anyway, as everyone knew how much he liked her. He let her use him as a damn pillow at night, if that wasn't enough of a clue then they had to be blind or stupid. Maybe both.

"We're gonna hunt some foxes. You must've noticed them prancing about." He pointed with his snout, to the vixen Remington had noticed not so far away. "Anyway, I reckon there's at least four of them hanging about, might be more. Figured we should take that one out and trace it's steps back to their den. Then it'll just be a matter of flushing them out and finishing them off." He explained, quite proud of himself for thinking ahead.

Remi kept her tongue pressed to her teeth. Keeping her facade smooth, despite his obvious annoyance. She kinda wanted to push at it, where it was so plainly displayed. Like she would have done to her brother Ruger. Poke, and poke until he snapped. Letting his frustration out on her, and eventually telling her what had put him in a sour mood. She thought better of it since they didn't know each other well. Though she couldn't help think more than foxes irked him, but she had no idea. This place had too many things she didn't understand.

She nodded in simple answer. Through the curtain of white they were joined by miss Percy. He seemed far more happy about her presence, as the girl didn't hold back when it came to greeting her mentor. She didn't doubt he cared for her, but this showed they had a close friendship. Interesting. She merely, beat her own tail in turn waiting for plans of action.

Askan did ha ve a good idea, but they'd need to catch it first. Or at least he seemed intent on killing it before the others."All right. Just point me in the right direction." She wasn't sure if he wanted to try to take it by surprise, them splitting up, or just all at once. Why Percy was young, Remi was the one who felt less of an advantage. Askan and @Phoenix had hunted together.

Percy had noticed the red foxes prancing around and their stench laying thicker and thicker on the ground, but she had been warned off venturing out of the treeline and so she left them alone. Now though, she didn't just have Askan to back her up but Remington too. Her tail waved happily at the prospect although she wasn't quite sure she could bring herself to kill one... but nobody had said anything about that yet. "What're we waiting for?" She questioned with her brightest smile, leaving the adults behind her with a laugh, bounding into the blanket of snow and quickly becoming obscured by the flurry of flakes that fell from the sky.

Another pup might have been worried about being visually separated from her pack mates, a smarter pup would have tried to retrace her pawsteps back home straight away, but Percy was not another pup. Instead she bounded forward with reckless abandon, the wind cutting through her plush winter coat and making her eyes water, the cold air made her lungs burn, but still she bounded on and on, smile plastered to her face as she unwittingly inched closer to the skulk, her next leap sure to put her right through the roof of their little snow cave and into the middle of their hunkered down sleeping huddle.

Askan Selwyn

Askan was grateful for Percy's enthusiasm, but he wasn't exactly surprised. Whenever he suggested they do something together the not so little Avalon always seemed eager to join him. Even if it was something trivial like patrolling the borders with him. Everything was better with Percy at his side, his shoulders felt lighter and the storm clouds of his demeanour parted to allow rays of sunshine to flit through. As silly as it sounded she truly was his best friend and he would have been lost without her. Funny how things had worked out this way, he'd never anticipated this when he first laid eyes on the tiny pup. How things had changed.

The bad thing about Percy's enthusiasm was that she often didn't listen and lo and behold ,she rushed off into the white before Askan could even utter a word. Rolling his eyes in weary amusement, Askan threw a quick look Remington's way, as if to say 'look at what I have to deal with.' She was trouble sure, but she wasn't all that bad. She kept him on his toes, for sure.

"Come on." He beckoned with a wave of his snout.

Breaking out into a gallop, Askan squinted as he ran through the blinding snow. He had a rough idea of where they foxes were hiding but he wasn't sure whether the same could be said for Percy. For all he knew, she was running blind, both literally and figuratively.

"Percy come back!" He hissed as loud as he dared. He wanted her to hear him, but he didn't want to alert the foxes.

Percy had gone hunting a time or two before, but this was different. She'd never caught anything as big as a fox on her own, even though he was sure she could, if she put her mind to it. Not only that, but blindly chasing after them wouldn't do any good. Foxes were not on the same level as their usual prey, they were cunning and sneaky, they weren't going to fall for a shallow plan. If they wanted to rid the field of these red menaces then they needed to work together. And with Percy rushing off as she did the chance of that happening was pretty damn slim.

"Get your ass back here! Ugh, Remington can you see her?"

Remington

So much for a plan. The youngest bounded forward without thought, eager for action. Remington couldn't blame her. She would have done the same thing at that age, but couldn't help think, the girl likely started many her endeavors this way. What a tiring job to keep her safe.

The silver wolf smirked by the look Askan gave her when she met his gaze. She could only imagine what he did day in and out for the young girl, and he wasn't even her parent. Now, she too should keep an eye out for her.

Askan knowing her best broke away, and she swiftly kept beside him. The wind seemed to grow in strength, and the snowflakes multiplied. In earnest the brown colored guardian tried to call the girl back. Remi kept her eyes out, looking for her dark figure. She doubted the pup would heed his call, and felt it better to find her. Catch up.

Jaws parted, and her tail whipping behind her, once more he called out more persistently. Narrowing her gaze she thought she saw a shadow bounding. "Over there," she motioned, changing direction, picking up speed. Percy was in the lead, but she was gaining ground. Suddenly, a blur of orange crossed their paths, instinctively she veered toward it. Muzzle crinkled, ready to land a bite, but it zipped the other way. She hoped toward Percy or Askan....

The muffled Get your ass back here! barely cut through the snow and the wind as the girl pranced forward blindly, she trusted in the grown ups to be able to find her.

There was a warning yip behind her, not a wolf or coyote sound but it came too late as her next leap hit snow. The ground gave way beneath her paws, snow collapsing in with the dark blur that was Phoenix. She managed a bark of suprise, the startled yelp of foxes filling the air as the earth moved beneath her buried rump, limbs flailing wildly in all directions as red shapes burrowed their way out of the snowy tomb she had unwittingly dropped on them, their adversaries seemed to scatter in all directions.

"H-hey get back here!" the girl yelled as she tried to wriggle her own rump free of the collapsed snow den, shapes quickly vanishing into the snow storm. She was disapointed that she hadn't even managed to snap at one, but perhaps this would serve as a better warning to them that this particular part of the world was occupied and if they ever came back they might have more to worry about than a young wolf falling through their ceiling and crashing their slumber party.
