Fighting to protect her pack - her family - was something she was no stranger to and was glad to do. The small feline before them wasn't nearly as large as the black bear but the dark woman could still see the claws were just as sharp. She nearly missed the arrival of her love as her mercury eyes were laser focused on the lynx. It was until Namids orders reach her did she realize. While she knew he could very well hold his own, her protectiveness rose to a whole new level. She wasn't about to let anything hurt him or anyone else so she followed her alphas orders. Moon moved around so that she was in front of the cat. Barks, snarls, growls and any other threatening noises she could think of fell from her maw.

She intended to keep those green eyes on her as Namid and Kajika - and apparently now Neha - all snapped and took nips at it. Anytime one of them would move into bite the cat the beta would jump closer to its face and snap her jaws loudly to draw its attention back. It whirled towards her hissing and going to bite at her. Moon however knew better than to stick around too close and would bounce back everytime. She didnt intend on getting any new scars but would gladly do so if needed.

Eidolon Seren

Eido was, as stated before, not at all a fighter. The young wolf probably couldn't have even done any damage to the lynx if she tried. So, she was quite relieved when the queen designated her as a distraction. A smile broke out on the ghost-colored wolf's face and she bounded forward to run around the lynx, yipping and barking the entire way.

And then... a realization struck her. She could use her motormouth to her advantage, here.

Even if the lynx couldn't understand her, the yearling began to chatter off useless calls. "Hey, kitty! Did you know that marmots are like big, fat squirrels?" and "Geese are evil!" and "Spectral Forest is haunted for real!" Her calliopean proclamations fell freely from her lips as easily as she'd been able to talk to @Cernan when she first joined the pack. The chatterbox of a wolf had endless multitudes of things to talk about, and since the lynx couldn't answer back, it gave her the perfect outlet to vent upon.

The lynx couldn't tell her to shut up or that she was being annoying. The lynx could only be distracted, and Eido was more than happy to provide that distraction.

I’ve got my love stuck in my head

She hadn't been doing much—which, to be fair, wasn't unusual. She spent most of her days feeling useless, because she was shy and scared and young and inexperienced. Life would fix some of those problems, but it wasn't happening fast enough and even though she wanted nothing more than to bother Kajika for adventures and just his company, she tried to do it as little as possible. Still, sometimes she caved in. She contemplated doing it now again, but something kept her from seeking out the darker man. He'd.. sort of kept to himself lately, in a way that wasn't normal for him (according to her), and it had her equal parts scared and worried. So, she stayed away, and spent the morning laying on her back on a rock and wiggling her paws in the air. It was a duty befitting of a worthless little cub as her.

Well, she wasn't so little anymore. She still hadn't passed Namid in height, and wasn't sure she ever would, but they were almost the same size now. Adulthood had swept over her fast in the winter months, but her mind hadn't kept up—she still considered herself useless.

And in that light, it was both surprising and unsurprising how she reacted when a sudden, furious call came sounding through her peaceful home. She had never heard her mother cry out in such a way before, and the message was loaded with tension and anger. They had an intruder. From the sounds of it, a dangerous intruder. Something like that should've made her stay away, or react with caution, but Lunette did neither of those things. In a single, smooth motion she rolled off the rock and to the side, and before she knew it her paws were tearing up the snow trying to get there. (What are you doing?) her monster questioned. Shut up she told it, leaping over a fallen log. (What can you possibly hope to achieve, except a painful, disappointing death?)

It stung, because it was true. What help would she be able to offer? They'd be angry if she, not even a proper yearling, burst in on the scene, guns blazing. They'd be upset because she should be protected and not try to do the protecting

Screw that she thought, harshly, but in the next heartbeat she was almost forced to reconsider.

The fear rose in a wave, washed across her, grasped her firmly in its jaws; you should be terrified of me it whispered as the quick, agile cat spun in its circle, hemmed in by angry wolves desperate to survive on the harsh mountain. Lunette found herself with her fangs bared, showing more of them than she ever had before. It felt.. strange, but also good, and the memory of another wolf's teeth slicing easily through her ear gave her strength.

Hackles raised and eyes blazing, heart pumping a mixture of fear and elated bravery, Lunette joined the circle—a little silver shadow, snarling and barking, tail raised. Her fangs clicked each time she shut them on the air, mock bites to keep the cat away each time it came a little too close. She didn't dare engage with it—not yet, maybe not ever, but she would stand here in this circle, with her pack, and protect the only family she had.

So, kittycat: get the hell off my lawn.

Namid Vuesain
Next round ends 2/22. After that will be 2/28 so we can archive it in time to be able to claim RE points! Good job guys, thank you c:

I have loved the stars too fondly

Kajika was quick to respond to her orders, diving in after she had made her own move. A flash of cream fur surprised her and her mismatched gaze turned to catch the form of her daughter diving into the center with her and Kajika. A part of her knew that it was a breach of rank, that even though Neha was her daughter she still should be told to go into the outer circle. But, another part of her knew that the girl needed the experience. Whether she knew it or not the Namid look-alike had been born and bred to take over the Cove after her mother handed it down to her one day. She needed to learn about this sort of thing, learn to be able to throw herself into the mix and handle herself properly so she allowed it to slide.

Everyone else was doing what they were supposed to and, to her great shock, even darling Lunette hopped in to help out. She, of course, would be required to stay back and out of harm’s way. This task she trusted to Tagg as he was training to be a guardian. A swift and stern glance was thrown his way, shifting from the girl to him in a way that she hoped he would understand. What her, help her, make sure she doesn’t get hurt. It was also in that moment that a flicker of a thought passed through her mind, that she needed to make sure her youngest child knew how to protect herself. She made up her mind then that she would meet her child and start running through some basic training with her.

It was clear that the feline was getting panicky and tired, whirling everywhere with wide eyes and an open panting mouth. If it hadn’t been a danger to their family she might have felt bad, but it was just the way things were meant to go. “Neha, Kajika, if you get a clear path I want you to go for it. We need to end this quickly and as painlessly as possible,” she ordered, tail lashing behind her petite frame. Even if they Lynx did need to die, she’d been brought up to know that this animal still had a life of its own. It was still a sentient being, and to kill it slowly was cruel, monstrous, and disrespectful to the life it had lived. Diving in this time she was a bit more physical, slamming her body into the predator and sending it skittering with a yowl. It managed to stay on it’s paws, but it was wobbly. Time was of the essence.

Kajika Tallis

He'd taken his turn at the lynx nipping at at its hind quarters and bouncing back just in time to not get hooked by its claws. Before he could see who it was Neha had come in and took her turn as well. Diving in and out just as he and Namid had without getting hurt which was good. At the same time Kajika knew she had stepped out of rank but she needed to know what to do to. They seemed to have a lot of these situations and her having experience could be what saved them in the future.

The others behind them were doing their part and Kajika had to push them out of his mind as he concentrated on the cat. He did however notice when Lunette appeared, he made a quick mental note to say something to her later. He was glad that she had come and was taking part to help with her confidence.

When Namid gave the order that it was time they end the feline as quickly as possible he watched as she slammed her body into the animal. Once she had retreated leaving the lynx wobbly and seemingly disoriented he took his chance. He would end the creatures suffering as he dove in using his large body he slammed into it too. Avoiding its claws he soon had it by the neck his jaws clamping around its windpipe. Holding there as he pinned the feline on its side to keep himself from getting injured.

The simple fact that there was an unwelcomed thing in the cove was enought to piss off the inky woman. This was her family and her home, nothing was about to threaten that. As the dance between canines and feline continued Moon made sure to keep tabs on everyone especially Tagg. While she knew he could handle himself she still felt the need to make sure he didnt get hurt. A smile broke beneath her snarling lips as Eido used her own tactic of distraction - chatter. After meeting the girl Moon knew first hand how talkative she could be and felt like it was a clever tactic. There was no time for praise though as the lynx was still a threat and a new body joined in the circling. The small silver form belonged to that of Lunette and Moonshadow instinctually moved between her and the cat just as she did between the bear and Neha and Cernan. She didnt think much about it and she missed Namids look to her russet hero for him to protect the pup. All that was going through the woman's mind was protecting her family.

Namids words rang out for either Neha or Kajika to take the kill if they received an opening. As she slammed her body to disorient the cat Moon jump in to snap right at its face for good measure as she saw Kajika go for the kill out of the corner of her eye. Since the cat was wobbly and then had a wolf at its neck it couldn't swipe at the young woman barking in its face. It wasn't long before the lynx took its final breath and laid still beneath her teacher. Her snarling was replaced with panting and a smile was worn upon her muzzle. No one had gotten hurt and while this wasn't a typical meal choice it would do. She smiled at Kajika giving him a silent well done before turning around and going next to her love. She checked him over for injuries happily seeing none. Mercury pools then checked over the rest of her pack just to make sure.

I’ve got my love stuck in my head

Things were.. going well, she supposed; she was baring all her fangs at this creature, deep growls rumbling out from her slim chest, when.. when Moonshadow stepped in in front of her. When the inky-pelted female placed herself between Lunette and the lynx they were trying to distract.

When Moonshadow made it perfectly clear that Lunette was nothing but a burden. Something to be protected. Kept safe from harm. She was useless, incapable of anything but placing herself in danger and needing others to look after her. She was worthless. She was a silly, foolish little girl. She was—

—angry.

Darkness opened up inside her, black rage welling up from the dammed-up depths of her soul. Glistening teeth parted in the pallid winter light, skin wrinkling atop her slender muzzle, and the growl falling from her mouth was all the more savage than it had been moments before. The snarl rose in a crescendo, every fiber of her body vibrating with pitch black savage fury. "Get out of my way," her voice hissed out amidst the thunder. She quaked with the fervor of her heartbeat, shivered in the wrath's grasp; she was angry as she had never been before, all emotion tapped and building up to a pyre.

Who do you think you are? she wanted to spit at Moonshadow, saliva dribbling down the corner of her mouth. She didn't care about Moonshadow's intentions. She didn't give a single fuck about any of it. All that mattered was that she stood in her way, sheltered her, and it was enough to make her blood run black.

Beyond Moonshadow, Kajika had felled the feline, and in the depth of her anger she couldn't even feel sad for it. It had wandered into the wrong neighborhood, but did it need to die for that? The question faded, crumbled like dry parchment in a fire, and Lunette's brown eyes honed in on Moonshadow. All gentleness had fled her; only iron, still hot from the forge, remained. Slowly, she advanced on the older female as Kajika slowly choked the lynx.

She didn't say anything for a long time. She didn't dare nip at her black scruff either, afraid of a fight she couldn't win, but she stood there, small and stubborn, exuding anger and fury and frustration. Darkness flashed in her gaze, all of her fangs bared in Moonshadow's face. Then, finally, "Don't ever do that again," and two unspoken promises bloomed in her dark heart. Slowly, her lips fell back over her teeth, and with a final glare at Moonshadow she began to walk over to Kajika and Namid.

Tagg Eastfall

OOC! Sorry I'm late, life got busy.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Word Count: 344

Tagg felt that things were going fairly well.  When Lunette had appeared, Tagg had immediately side-hopped closer to her, ensuring he was close enough to knock her out of the way should she suddenly be in danger.  Namid hadn’t expressed a desire for him to escort her away, so he assumed she was alright with her younger daughter’s presence, but the glance the alpha shot at him made it clear if something happened to her, he would be the one responsible.

The scarred man saw Moon move in front of Lunette as well.  He was pleased his mate had similar thoughts, but that put two wolves he wanted to look after in the same vicinity.  What if the cat managed to get them both at once?

It didn’t seem to be much of a worry, however, as Namid ordered the thief’s death. Within a few short moments, Kajika had seen an opening and darted in to finish it.  As the cat stopped moving and the scent of death filled the air, Tagg began to relax. He still found it difficult to force his hackles down, but he logically knew the threat was gone. He checked over his love even as she did the same, relieved to find no harm.  He gently ran his tongue over the back of her ear in a brief show of affection before turning to Kajika.  He was brought up short at Lunette’s words, hissed angrily at Moon for her protective actions.  He stared at her, ears standing erect in shock. Did she just threaten her for doing as she was told? Tagg wondered.

He glanced at @Namid, wondering if she would say anything about her daughter’s behavior.  He didn’t dare, as it was not his place, but if it had been his child…

“Nicely done.” He told the beta, pushing Lunette to the back of his mind.  He didn’t know her that well; maybe she was always like this.

With the danger gone, Tagg was ready to spend the rest of the afternoon lounging.  It had been an exciting day, after all.

Neha Vuesain
Please excuse Neha for breaking rank again. @Namid @Lunette if you want anything changed, let me know.

Her flattened ears easily latched onto her mother's instructions to go in for the kill, should she have an opening. Neha was ready and willing to oblige, to fulfill her duty to her pack, her family. Her own slender, petite frame was held low to the ground, all four legs bent at the joints. She had assumed the perfect crouching position, ready to spring forward. A pink tongue flicked out over pearly teeth as she gazed into the frenzied, wide eyes of her rival. There would be no escape today. The cat must pay with it's life. The dark flash of Kajika leaping forward to grab the Lynx by the throat, effectively suffocating it. The grown Princess had been ready to further assist by taking aim for the back of it's skull, but she found there was no need, as the life drained from the feline.

But the passing of the cat was not what made her halt at that very moment. It was her little sister. Her smaller silver form Neha witnessed gliding towards their devoted second, Moonshadow. The pace at which she walked, the look in her eyes and on her face, all shocked her. Then tainted words, veiled in a threat slipped from her mouth towards the dark adult, who had only been doing her job, out of love. For what seemed to be a long moment, Neha only stood back in silence, her brown eyes hardening. As the oldest of the Vuesain's, she was infamous for being outspoken, even brash at times. It was on the very rare occasion that she ever held back in anything. And today, concerning Lunette was no exception.

Before Lunette could reach Namid and Kajika, Neha flew forward. The flash of her fawn and silver fur was all the warning her sibling would get, before her slightly larger frame blocked her path completely. Tail curled over her spine, hackles bristling, a deep snarl crept up her throat and out of parted jaws. Jaws which she used no hesitation in wrapping around her sister's muzzle firmly. Her teeth did not pierce the delicate skin of her snout, but the bunched up muscles in her hindquarters showed that she would not hesitate to discipline her further, using force if needed. With one last raspy snarl, she finally released her, but only to give her an earful. "Who the hell do you think you are, speaking to her like that?!" Her voice boomed, rising in pitch and intensity. "You know nothing of what she has done for us...this pack! Putting her life in danger, time after time! And if this is how you repay her, you should be ashamed." Her tail sliced at the air, teeth snapping together on empty air. "Our parents raised you better than this, Lunette Vuesain." She rumbled, taking one step forward, as if daring her sister to challenge her. Neha had forgotten about Namid's presence in her anger, but as she settled, she remembered her place. This unintentional breach of rank through disciplinary action was a sign that she was coming into her own. That she was maturing, and capable of the level of maturity and responsibility required to guide the Cove, when her time came. Finding the face of Namid, she lowered her head, and eyes down apologetically. "Sorry mother...but I couldn't just let her get away with that..." She said while slinking back, leaving the true queen to deal with Lunette as she saw fit. Such darkness in such a young child...of her own blood. The look on her face was as clear as glass; Neha was deeply worried.

Kajika was quick to respond, rushing forward and sinking his teeth into the throat of the feline. It hissed and thrashed and for a moment she was concerned that it would end up scratching him. But it stilled after a few moments indicating it's death and a smile spread across her jaws. Her tail began to wag as she moved forward to congratulate the man, but a strong voice caught her attention. She stilled, head whipping to the side to catch her youngest spitting venom at Moonshadow. For helping her. And Neha was quick to run forward, doing the job that wasn't hers to do. Namid had been able to forgive her breach when it came to the feline, but this was not okay.

“Everyone stay still and be quiet,"she commanded, her voice solid. “It was a good hunt, thank you for coming to my aid. I am glad that no one got hurt. Moonshadow, Kajika, and Tagg please take care of the meat and take what you can of the pelt to the communal den. It will act as good insulation,” she instructed, giving her head a low dip of thanks and apology to each of them. As her head rose she looked at Neha first, her mismatched gaze narrowed and she moved to her daughter. Her tail curled harshly over her back and she stiffened her legs. “I can forgive you for the breach of rank you made in the hunt considering you did not get hurt and you need to learn. But you are not your sister’s mother. That is my job and only mine, do not order her around or punish her without my consent my daughter of not. Do you understand?” she said, her voice steely. She was still the leader here for a while longer. Once she could see the comprehension she nodded harshly, pressing a quick lick to the girl’s cheek to let her know that even if she was angry she still loved her.

Turning to her youngest she moved toward her, posture the same. “Follow me,” she ordered leaving no room for argument as she brushed past fully expecting the girl to turn and follow at her heels. She wanted to know what exactly was going through her mind because she had never seen this side out of any of her children. This was something that concerned her.
