Any and all WRF woofs welcome. Takes place a little before 'bedtime'. Basically, its communal cuddle time! For warmth purposes of course.
RE: Wild Rye Fields, a howling, keening blizzard blasts your territory, making it both hazardous and uncomfortable to be out in the open

To say that it was cold would be massive understatement. In fact, Askan had never felt anything like this before. The winds tore across the field, gliding over the snow and hitting him with every ounce of force it could muster. It was as though he had been submerged in that gods forsaken river all over again. All he could think about was how could he was, how it seemed as though his ears were going to turn solid and fall off at any moment. He couldn't even see, not really, as the gales clawed at his eyes and made him squint in discomfort. Askan loved the field with everything he had, but he couldn't help resent how its flatness more or less offered next to no protection against winds like these. Being out in the open, like he was, was anything but a pleasant experience. He'd rather listen to @Castel talk about her lover boy than this.  And that meant a lot, considering how much that topic bored him. Was @Niles really all that interesting? Really? Askan was dubious.

So with that in mind, he kept trudging towards the oak tree den, where he hoped the others were holed up, weathering out the storm. It was a little too early to retire for the night, but Askan thought he had a decent excuse here. He would have remained atop the lookout longer if he'd been able to, but with the weather being as vicious as it was, it simply wasn't an option. The going was slow, it felt as though it was taking forever, but in time the blurry outline of fir trees came into view. He was nearly there. Just a little further.

I cannot resist cuddle time <333333

Cas' mind was stuck on a permanent loop of ohholyfreakingcrapitwassofreakingcoldohmylord. She was fairly certain she'd turned into Cas-sicle by this point; she didn't have enough fat on her to keep her insulated well enough from the storm raging around her. And oh, there had never been a worse time to go out on an adventure. She was trudging through snow that went up to around her shoulders. It felt like she was wading through water.

Her paws felt like they were literally going to fall off in ice blocks, and she longed for Niles' black pelt to bury herself in for the night. That would certainly be very nice at the moment, and she felt her fur warm minutely at the thought of the dark boy. Geez, I have it bad for him, don't I? she wondered to herself as she waded through the snow, trying to find her way back to the den.

A particularly strong blast of icy wind ripped over the open plains and sliced through the girl's pelt with ease. She squealed, tensed up, and picked up the pace. "Shitshitshitshitshitshitshit!" she yelped, teeth chattering together.

And then she saw her savior.

Not the den, as she'd originally intended on heading, but instead the dark-furred man that she loved to annoy - Askan's dark fur stood starkly against the white backdrop around him. The little wolf began bounding at that point to catch up, and immediately wove herself underneath him, whining petulantly. "C-c-cold!" she cried, sounding like a puppy who'd just stepped out of the den for the first time and shaking like a leaf. She nestled down into the man's pelt, trying to greedily absorb his body heat and go toward the den at the same time.

With his ears pressed firmly to his head, Askan couldn't be blamed for not hearing Castel. The little runt wasn't being quiet by any meaning of the word, but the wind was louder, hissing in his ears like a pissed off cougar. The Selwyn was so focused on getting to the safety and warmth of the den that his mind was focused solely on that. He was unaware of his surroundings-not that he could see all that much anyway- so that he didn't notice the little warmth leach till it was too late, until she was smushing herself against him, whimpering pathetically all the while.

His first instinct was to flop down and crush whatever was beneath him, but after a few seconds he soon realised who it was and resisted the urge. As tempting as it was. That didn't stop him from grumbling in contempt as Castel slugged along beneath him, using him as a wolf umbrella.

"T-t-he he-ell you d-d-d-oing!?" It was hard to sound intimidating with his teeth chattering so furiously. But an attempt was made nonetheless. "Guh-guh-et out!"

He understood she was cold and all, it didn't take a genius to figure that out, but damn it he was too! If not more so now! But still, it wasn't as if they had all that far to go, just a little further. Grumbling in clear and obvious frustration, Askan struggled along through the snow, allowing Castel to use him as a shelter. For now, anyway.

To his relief, the den site came into view and in his relief, Askan might have stepped on Castel a little. Not on purpose, well okay maybe he didn't feel any remorse. It was hardly a steep price to pay for the service the Selwyn had provided.

"All r-r-right. Guh-guh-get your ass in." He prodded her with his snout, shoving her towards the mouth of the oak tree den.

The sooner she got in, the sooner Askan could do the same. To his relief, she didn't hang about. Clambering in after her, Askan shook himself off as a sigh passed from his open lips. It was still cold, no denying that, but the absence of the biting wind was a godsend for sure. As always, the den was dark, so it took his eyes a moment or so to adjust. But from what he could tell, his spot was clear. Good.

Reyes

As soon as winter is over, I’m going home!

Fuck winter. Screw this horrible, awful weather, these biting, wild winds, and this god awful snow. The storms before had been difficult, but this? This weather was the thing of legends, Reyes rather suspected, and was certainly not something he’d been warned about as a hazard of plains’ life before joining Wild Rye Fields. He couldn’t feel his nose – shit he could feel his ears, or the end of his tail, or his stupid feet—

The swarthy male stumbled into the communal den, barely able to shuffle around the two lumps on the floor in his hurry to get out of the shrieking winds. With chattering teeth, he collapsed in a heap next to the other two, realizing belatedly that one of the wolf piles was actually Askan. Without much further thought, he wriggled closer, shoving his snout into the other man’s ruff before it dawned on him that one of the yearlings seemed to have the same idea. His ears flipped back.

“The hell is this bullshit, anyways?”

Whether he was discussing the extraordinarily poor weather or his young packmate pressed up against his particular wolf of interest was left up to the imagination.

Remington

Bloody hell, bloody hell. A rough bark of her displeasure drew from her lips. She'd seen a storm coming but, didn't think it was gonna be this bad. She figured it would just drop some more snow like usual.

Oh no, this was far from her experience. Now she was trying to run like hell to the den. The only blessing she felt was having not been out on the open tundra. She would have been in a poor situation there.

The trees came into sight, and she pushed her burning limbs onward. Why'd it have to be so damn cold? She fought against the curtain of white she tried to keep her eyes on the forest.

The last time they'd had a storm Phoenix had disappeared, and she was worried if they would soon suffer another loss. There was still no head nor tail of the girl, and with the weather like this it only pulled her mood further down.

Finally she reached sanctuary, and eased on into the den. She already felt a hundred times better out of the frigid wind, and gave a shake of her silver coat. There were many a scent here to be sure who was in the dark. Gold eyes adjusted, and she thought she saw at least two. It was a newcomer's voice that caught her ear.

"Hopefully winter's final good bye," she murmured, finding a place unaccompanied, yet near bye, where she placed herself in a nice ball. She tried to decipher with her nose who else had found shelter. Castiel and Askan apparently. "I hope if the others don't come soon they found somewhere to hold out." The fields didn't need any more problems.

Adelayde Artemieva

Stupid, stupid, stupid. She knew she shouldn't of went out this morning with the looming storm off on the horizon, but it didn't look like it was moving in as fast as it really was. Or was going to hit the tundra as hard and brutal as it did. Fighting against the whipping white blizzard, she squinted to catch sight of the treeline to the south. Ade could only hope that everyone was able to find shelter from this fierce winter storm. The last time they had a storm like this, Percy went missing and till this day there had been no sight of her which only put more of a dampening mood on the whole pack.

Ade had thought to ask her alphas if they wanted to her search outside their borders, further than they currently were to try to find any sign of the cub. However, with winter still throwing horrendous storms like this at them, it would be a dangerous mission to accomplish, but a mission that needed to happen soon if they were going to find Phoenix.

As entered the tree cover, she was finally able to spot the communal den. Surging forward, shaking the layer of snow off her pelt in the process as the winter storm whistled through the treetops. Stumbling into the den, she allowed her mismatched eyes to adjust to the low light of the den. Deciphering the wolf piles, she saw her spot was currently taken by the young Castel and on the other side of Askan was the new male Reyes. Opting to lay closer to Remington though within reach of Askan and his wolf pile, she curled up into a ball like the other female and sighed loudly. "I-I th-think I-I lost mah-y tooes," she chattered into her curled tail.

Cas is edgy and nosy sorry

Okay, so Askan bitched about her being underneath him, but he definitely didn't drive her off, and in fact even allowed her to cuddle up with him on the inside of the cave. She nestled herself safely into the dark fur and lay, shivering, as she tried to warm up. he flicked her blue eyes up to the man she was using for shelter and thumped her tail against the ground behind her. "Thanks for letting me take advantage of your warmth," she mumbled, voice muffled by his fur, before she settled back into him with a content little sigh.

The peace was short-lived as the newest member of the pack - a man who reeked of Askan and whom Askan reeked of, as well (which was interesting, to say the least) - bumbled his way in and immediately over to them. 'The hell is this bullshit, anyways?' he muttered, and Cas got the feeling he was only half talking about the weather. She could sense a bit of resentment - jealousy? - coming from him, and smirked into Askan's fur before raising her head and touching her nose to the newcomer's. "I the hell am this bullshit," she replied breezily, blue eyes meeting with silver - like @Niles' - and offering him a smile. "Name's Cas. Sorry for intruding on your territory." She only half-meant the light apology as she snuggled back into her Askan's fur and genuinely, affectionately smoothing down some of the stray hairs on her grumpy friend's shoulder. She'd really miss him when she went off with Sahalie.

She grinned and raised her muzzle to Askan's ear, nudging it with her nose. "He's kinda hot - but you knew that already. I like dark fur and silver eyes, too," she breathed, hopefully too low for Askan's guy-friend to hear. Not that she actually cared. She laughed softly and dropped her had back down to lay it across Askan's foreleg. "Don't worry, though. You're the only one I love, you grumpy ass," she jibed, sarcastic and playful as she raised her eyes to try and meet his gaze.

Remington and Adelayde came in next, and Cas smiled at the latter. "Fall in any good snowdrifts lately?" she teased, eyes half-closed. It was good that more of the pack were getting inside - she just really hoped Niles would be okay, wherever he was. Her ears lowered in worry as she trained her gaze on the opening of the den, waiting his entrance.

Icicle Whitefang
One second there had been warmth, then the next..nothing but howling wind and walls of snow all around. The pink eyed wolf found himself in a winter nightmare, his thick winter being as effective as being naked in the desert. So many things were going through his mind as he tried to orientate himself, to find the direction and sanctuary of the pack den, the only place that could mean the difference between life and death at the moment. He kept low to the ground, the screaming glacial like conditions caused the colorless wolf to stumble through the snow, an effective tactic when it came to traversing land you couldn't see, moving by feeling alone.

Eventually Icicle saw a familiar rock,or was it familiar? The damn snow covered everything up and one rock looked like another and even a paice prey buried under snow looked like just another indistinguishable mound at the moment. There….” Pink eyes laid upon his salvation as the wolf squeezed into the den, not wanting to live up to his name sake today.

A short sigh of relief escaped the snow covered albino, hey he had some color now from the white snow as he stepped into the shelter, giving his fur a shake, dislodging some of the powder as he glanced around, his gaze widening as he realized he wasn't alone in the den, shit, that meant there might have to be...close contact, something he was still trying to get used to. Eyeing his packmates, the wolf gave a simple “Hi.” as he settled down, trying not to disturb any of them.

Askan Selwyn
I'm laffin so hard. Best thread.  No real posting order from here on out, just have fun with it guys XD. The length of this post got lost on me, damn,

Askan huffed in contempt as Castle snuggled against him as though he was just there for the sole purpose of keeping her tiny form warm. He didn't mind so much, as there was no one else to huddle with and she wasn't heavy in the least. But the fact that it was her, someone he hadn't necessarily invited into his personal space did miff him off quite a bit. Perhaps if it wasn't so cold and dark he would have tossed her off and made her sleep  by the entryway. But having experienced the bite of the wind himself even he wasn't cruel enough to do that. She could stay for now, until his tolerance ran out.

Her gratitude at the very least was a good show and he grumbled in response. Something along the lines of 'no problem' as he  hid his face beneath his paws.

He'd been content to try and catch some shut eye, but not a moment later another wolf skulked into the warmth of the den. Reyes. Huffing in greeting, Askan was not at all surprised when the rogue settled down beside him and his his face in the thickness of his coat. He however was a little surprised at the biting nature of his tone, and how Reyes;voice rumbled against his side. Something was up with him-again- and if Castel's easy quip in response was a clue, then his ire was probably aimed at her. For some reason or another. Either way, he was content to leave the others bickering, he had no interest in that sort of thing, but of course Castel had to drag him into it as well, didn't she? Flicking his eyes open, Askan sent her a glower. As if to say, really? Where did she get this rubbish from? And why did she keep touching him like that, poking prodding and whispering things in his ear as though they were naughty little secrets. Askan wrinkled his nose in distaste and titled back a little, away from her nosy nose.

"If you don't have anything meaningful to say, don't talk at all." He snipped, his eyes still narrowed in annoyance.

For one reason or another, Reyes got a shoulder bump. Though if asked Askan would argue he'd simply been shrugging.

The den was quickly beginning to fill and the spaces on the den became far and few between as they all huddled together, hoping to escape the roaring winds. Remington came next, then Adelayde and finally Icicle.  The only ones missing were the alphas, Castel's toy-boy and Percy...For obvious reasons.

It was all rather warm and fuzzy wasn't it? Askan hated it. Not that he was warm but... It was all so familiar, so domestic. Askan had to stop himself from gagging allowed. That'd be weird. And people would ask stupid questions.

He wouldn't really call it a conversation, but there was some chatter going on. A decent enough distraction.

"It is fucking cold out today." He agreed with a frown, eyeing Ade's toes from where he laid. She still had them attached to her paws, he imagined she'd be fine in a moment or so.

His gaze then landed on Icicle, who of course stuck out like a sore thumb in their tangle of dark and tawny wolves. Always an outlier than one. But even he deserved some warmth, so Askan said nothing about his presence, he merely pushed back against Reyes, kicked against Castel a little-quite lightly- and rested his chin on his paws again. This wasn't so bad.

"I agree with Remington, this will be the worst of it and then it'll calm down. Spring's on its way."
