Lorcán Artemieva
Early evening, Overcast, 5°F, -15°C

Following on from his awkward moment with Morganna the day before, the Whitestone subordinate decided that it would be best to keep away from the monadnock for a while – or at least, keep out of the dark woman’s way. With the scent of her, and every other females, heat still burning within his nose, Lorcan had traipsed aimlessly through the lowlands before finally diverting into the cover of the trees. By now it was early evening and it wouldn’t be long before the sun would set.

Russet ears perked up at the sound of running water and, still feeling a little worked up from the day before, Lorcan decided a long cold drink could be just the thing he needed to clear his head. Following the direction of the hissing currents, the agouti male made short work of locating it source. Golden eyes fell upon the jagged peaks where the river cut through, and marvelled at the sight of the numerous trees which had fallen in its wake. Stepping carefully as to not slip on the frosted rock the male picked his way closer, over the toppled trees, to reach the water.

Finally with the cool liquid licking at his hot aching paws, his neck lowered to allow his salmon pink tongue a chance to lap at the fresh water.

Adelayde Artemieva
she says beauty is pain

After the morning she had, she needed to get away. Far away from the Rye Fields for a little while. The internal itching and burning beneath her skin had her seeking cool waters or anything that could temporary soothe her heat. Suddenly irritable with any females below her, Ade did not feel like herself. Grouchiness replaced her normal sunshine like behavior, unless she was feeling good at the moment and that only tended to be when she was around any Rye males. However, her lawful mind urged her to seek shelter away from the desires that plagued her mind and get out to breathe.

Loitering through the lowlands, she repeatedly rolled through the snow banks and rubbed upon any strong scents to mask the terrible stench that was upon her fur. She couldn't stand it anymore. Traveling through the tree cover, her mismatched eyes observed the jagged terrain around her as her tawny body drew closer to the sound of running water. Just what she needed, a cool drink of water to soothe that burn beneath her skin. To cool her mind and set her straight. Humming softly to herself, the chilling air was making her feel more like herself, cheerful and friendly. As her bicolored eyes marveled at the sight of the river cutting through the way it did and how many trees were tumbled over, her nostrils realized she was not alone.

She was quickly able to find the stranger that happened upon the river just before her. Picking her way as well across a few fallen logs, she too reached the water plenty lengths away from the other. Adelayde began to quench her thirst in silence, her tail swaying at her hocks as she waited to see if the other had even noticed her arrival.

Lorcan enjoyed the sensation of the icy cold liquid gliding down his throat. Not only did it quench his thirst, the cold water also helped to steady his nerves. For those few moments as the agouti male lapped at the water in solitude, he felt content. That was until a familiar scent drifted towards his nose. Raising his had from the stream, water droplets trickled from his chin as he sampled the air around him. The intoxicating scent was much fainter than he remembered it, but it was there and it surely signified one thing. There was a female in heat nearby.

Licking his lips, the male’s eyes began to scan the surrounding area and his russet ears perked up in case he should hear the woman approach. Soon enough, the sound of footfall met his ears. Lorcan remained at his spot by the river, curious to see who it was. He remained quiet as he finally saw the woman appear from out of the trees, golden eyes taking in her tawny form as she picked her way carefully towards the water a little further downstream. For a moment he considered leaving to allow her to drink in peace but as usual curiosity got the better of him and so he began to move in closer to investigate.

As he tip-toed his way over the fallen branches and slippery rocks another scent reached his nose. The bridge of his muzzle wrinkled as he recognised her scent to be the same one which clung to Askan. She must have been one of the Rye wolves. That didn’t immediately put him off though but it did encourage him to make sure that his posture was neutral. He couldn’t handle getting into any more trouble so soon after his encounters with Wraith and Piety. “Good evening, Miss.” He called out, as he continued to pick his way carefully towards her. “I don’t believe I’ve had the pleasure of meeting you before.” He smiled across to her then, hoping that she wouldn’t chase him off.

she says beauty is pain

The Snow woman was content to quench her thirst in peace and allow the other to leave without a word between them. That was until the breeze blew the scent of him over to her ebony nostrils. A soft crinkle of her muzzle could be seen as the scent of the Whitestone wolves and their gruesome leader invaded her nose. Though the gesture was halfhearted as she remembered the talk of their female alpha warning them about a loose wolf that may be intent on hurting others. It had been a respectable gesture, though the scars upon her muzzle reminded her the Whitestone wolves weren't always that generous.

However, she remained neutral as she was reminded to by her alphas if she was ever in the presence of one of their northern neighbors. A tawny ear swiveled in his direction as he began to step carefully closer to her, however, she continued to drink only allowing her mismatched eyes to glance over at him. Licking the loose droplets off her chin, she lifted her muzzle further off the water's surface as her eyes stayed trained on the other. His frame smaller than hers, though most were. Earthy tones, slender limbs, and a pleasing face, her body decided to turn to face him as he continued to move in closer. The agouti male called out to her, his posture also neutral.

He was surely polite, unlike his other packmates and leader she had the pleasure of meeting. Deciding to give him the benefit of the doubt, she returned a polite smile. "No, you certainly have not. I'm Adelayde, second of Wild Rye Fields." Polite and straightforward, perhaps this encounter won't go as disastrous as the last one had. This male already seemed a complete opposite of his leader or maybe he was setting her up. Glancing around to make sure they were alone and there wasn't a pack mate of his lurking in the shadows, watching over them. Turning her mismatched eyes back to his sharp golden ones, "And may I know who you are?" Her singsong voice purred back as her tail swayed gently at her hocks.
