Random Event:Kaela, you come across a small pond choked full of tadpoles.

Word Count: 326

It had been an interesting few weeks. She hadn’t met many of her packmates yet, but she couldn’t really be too upset about that. It was best to introduce herself slowly, one wolf at a time, and keep that persona of a frightened girl just coming out of her shell. It strained her patience, but she knew she could do it.

Still, Kaela couldn’t help but wonder how close the members of Secret Woodlands could be if they didn’t even make much of an effort to meet a newcomer. She’d already discovered that the man who’d attacked her was gone; he hadn’t stuck around. That took some of the spice out of her life, but she still had the child to get even with. She could hunt down the other insolent fool later.

If she was still feeling it by then.

Today the dark girl was wandering the territory and getting the lay of the land. She knew that to even be on even footing with the pack when the time came, she would have to know just as much about the territory as a native born pup. If she wanted to have an advantage, she had to know every detail. That was her goal; map the territory so she could use it to her advantage.

She was starting to get hungry and thirsty, so the girl decided to seek out something to drink. It didn’t take long for her to come across a small pool. Something about it was off; it seemed to be moving, and it was black. She hesitantly touched her paw to it, and a clear space opened up. It was then that she realized: it wasn’t the water, there were living things in it! Upon closer examination, Kaela recognized the creatures as tadpoles. She grinned and touched the surface of the water again, watching the swimmers scatter in an attempt to avoid her forelimb.

She giggled. She’d always loved teasing tadpoles.

@Kaela hope its okay to drop Zilas in here XD

The pale ghost moved among the trees a dead hare dangling from his jaws. Honestly, he wasn't much of a hunter, but the tiny creature had literally been begging to be taken as it had sat there in the open munching on some sort of plant. Besides the pack would soon have more mouths to feed, and despite spring returning what all its life-giving parts it was still necessary to keep the packs stock of meet well supplied. Even though his hare would not do the biggest difference if it came to a problematic situation. The pack would stand well with a hunter in their ranks or just a simple pack hunt to stock up on prey.

The woman's scent not one they knew, and at first they felt their lips curl back in the thought of a trespasser. But soon they came to realize that the scent carried the familiar smell of the pack. Relaxing they changed direction, they could bring the hare to the cache later.

The woman seemed occupied with a  smaller pond which seemed to be oddly black. Perhaps the water was no good anymore. Dropping the hare, they let a light bark escape their lips to alert her of his presence.  "Hello Mis, we don't think we have had the pleasure of meeting you" he said a short informal bow of their head in greeting. "We are Zilas the woodlands second and you what can we call you by miss?"

"Talking" IT.

please don't judge me for talking to my self, after all, you were the one who ruined me.

OOC: Sorry for the wait!

Kaela hadn’t been at the small pool long before a voice startled her, causing her to mildly lose her balance and fully step in the puddle. She felt the black amphibians wriggling under her pads, but didn’t bother to remove her leg when she look up and around. Her eyes zeroed in on the pale form of a man with one clouded eye. She cocked her head. We? Did he – they – hear the voices too? Were they alike?

Her ears flicked up in interest, and she felt a curiosity unlike anything she’d felt before. She left her toys and slowly moved towards this wraith, sniffing him – them – inquisitively. “We’re Kaela,” The monochrome woman said softly after what was probably a too-long silence. She used his vocabulary, though she had learned at a young age that referring to one’s self in the plural caused problems. Her father used to bite her muzzle until she bled whenever she called herself ‘we’. Though she’d left long before most wolves left their packs, she hadn’t ever broken the habit. But perhaps…

The idea of having a friend was so foreign to Kaela, she didn’t have a word for it, this strange tingling warmth that tickled in her chest. Hope?

But what did she need friends for? She’d always been fine on her own. Better than fine. Being in a pack had always caused her issues, always been inviting trouble. This time she was the one bringing trouble, but here…

Well, she supposed this could spell trouble for her.

@Kaela sorry for the wait on this

A small smile appeared on their lips as the woman startled step fully into the pond. Woops. but oh well at least it appeared that the black, wiggling? water was not weary deep. Though the woman took her time to answer, perhaps they had miss judged and she was not from the woodland? And yet their scent clung to her so she had to be. As she moved closer clearly sniffing them they too took a few steps towards her as well, taking in her scent, and yes the woodland clung strongly to her.

They nodded their head lightly by her name though wondering look fell over their face. We? did that mean that she had an IT as well? Truly they had never met a wolf to talk like them but, they had also first fallen into that black hole after binge stuck in Fenrir's grasp.  Though as the woman did not say more they concluded that she likely wasn't that much of a talker. Should they leave? No, she was different than the others. She talked like they did. Was it even right to call her, her? Or was she a they?

"Sorry we disturbed you" they spoke as the looked passed her at the pond of black things. "whats wrong with that?" he asked nodding towards the water.

"Talking" IT.

Kaela liked to keep things simple. Alone was simple. The dark was simple. The cold was simple. Revenge, that was simple also. Friends, however, complicated things. Friends were harder to betray than enemies. Friends were harder to leave behind. Friends were a weakness. She should say something here to make him go away.

But even as she opened her mouth to do so, something stopped her. For once, the voices were quiet, not voicing their opinion or demanding she kill him.

She was confused.

Then Zilas spoke. There was that word again, we.

The monochrome girl glanced behind her at her toy, which she had forgotten, though her foot was still soaking wet. She looked back to her counterpart with a smile. “There are tadpoles in the pool.” She explained, taking a few inviting steps backwards so she could show him. “We used to love to play with them when we were younger, but we haven’t known spring for so long we forgot about them.”

She dipped her paw back in the water again, demonstrating how the wriggling black amphibians would dart away. A giggle fell from her lips as she watched them scramble to escape her intruding digit, though since the puddle was so small there was nowhere to escape to.
