Sachiel Leigh Selwyn

The older male appeared to be friendly, even if his tone had been grumpy in the beginning. He had not chased Sachiel away from the forest, which was good—right? The corners of his mouth curved upward as he noticed the wagging tail, his own shoulders relaxing as he listened to the loner speak up once more. This time he asked about his friend—Diego. Truthfully Sachiel was not sure if the two were friends. The boy had sort of tricked him into thinking that the Vale was in the north, but Diego did not seem concerned that it had taken the pair weeks to find Sachiel’s pack. Maybe the peppered male had realized that Sachiel wasn’t ready to go home—not now, or anytime soon. Even if he missed his friends. Close, he answered with a soft shrug, his mismatched gaze still fixated on the older male.

I don’t wanna head back south, he admitted, his ears falling to the side. All orange. Too loud. He frowned. The stranger wouldn’t understand. Nobody ever did. I don’t think anyone’s noticed I’ve left, anyway, he added with an unamused shrug. Castel maybe, but the rest? Sachiel had slipped away from prying eyes daily.

Nobody ever scolded him or herded him back to the striped trees.

Nobody said anything about the strange scents clinging to his pelt.

Why return?

Sachiel. He offered the loner—Kana—a bright smile, his tail finally giving a friendly wag at the exchange of names. These woods weren’t completely awful, even with all the strange sounds. It wasn’t a bad place to settle down, but he felt an obligation to Diego. To ask him if he wanted to stay, or if he wanted to continue north. Sachiel was partial to the former, for his paws had begun to ache as his small body grew weary with travel. But he also did not know if he was ready to settle. There was so much that he hadn’t seen. So many colours he needed to experience.

Askan Selwyn

Close. That wasn't much of a response, but Askan figured he wasn't going to get much more out of him. Weren't kids supposed to be a little more carefree, relaxed? Prone to running their mouths when they shouldn't? This kid was keeping his cards awfully close to his chest, which was good, smart. But hell, it was more than a little annoying when he asked questions and only got crumbs in return.

Ah well, he'd take what he could get.

Askan couldn't say that he was all that surprised by the kids response. Did any kid ever want to go home after an adventure? Did they ever want the fun to end? Nope, never. The fact that he brought up the colour orange was a little puzzling, it didn't seem at all relevant. Like he'd plucked the thought of out of the air and tossed it Askan's way. Again, rather than kick up a fuss-God he was getting mellow- Askan merely nodded like it made sense. He'd ask later, if he ever got the chance to.

Still, it was sad that the kid felt as though no one had noticed his absence. He knew that feeling all too well and honestly, he wouldn't wish that fate upon anyone. But really, were his parents so thoughtless? Useless? He imagined that even the very worst of parents would at least notice that their kid was missing, be it through scent or sight. He was more inclined to believe that they knew he was missing, but just weren't doing anything about it. Lazy bastards.

The way Kana saw it, people like that shouldn't breed. If their bloodline dried up the world wouldn't be any worse for wear, if anything it'd be better. One less mess for a stranger to clean up.

Ah yes, he was getting cynical again. Fun times for all.

"Well Sachiel, you know where to find me."He told the kid, his lips ticking up at the sight of his smile. Now that's how it was supposed to be. The kid looked a lot better with a grin on his face and his tail ablur."I'm calling it for the night, see you around."His tail swished from side to side, a lazy wave farewell before he turned and headed back the way he'd came. Maybe now he'd be able to sleep soundly, knowing that the thudder was nowhere to be seen.

Sachiel Leigh Selwyn

The boy still needed to decide if he was to remain in the northern woods or return to the south—to the dreadful striped trees and their obnoxious orange leaves. To his family. The family that had barely been aware of his existence, aside from when they tucked into bed beside him or greeted him in the morning. Parents that seldom spent time together, as they tended to their own duties and didn’t seem all that fond of each other. Had it been his fault? Had he been the one to drive a wedge between them? The tip of his tail twitched at the thought. Did they even miss him? He knew the blue-eyed crimson Castel missed him. She always pestered him for adventures, and while he usually preferred to be alone, he never shied away from her company. Despite her sickly appearance and the changing swirl of colours that surrounded her, Castel never slowed him down. And she knew where the best green spots were—Sachiel’s favourite.

It didn’t matter. The orange had been too much. Not feeling wanted or needed had also played a factor. He could be gone all day and none of the Vale wolves would bat an eye. So the boy was very reluctant to return.

Even Askan, the grumpy stranger, had seemed more interested in Sachiel than most of the wolves back home. He had even offered him a place to stay! But, that was if the boy decided he wanted to make this place home.

It was pretty nice… and quiet on the eyes…

He flashed the older male a warm smile as he nodded in response to the loner’s statement. Even if he decided not to stay, Sachiel would seek him out—just so Askan didn’t think the tawny cub disappeared into the forest, gobbled up by the thudder he had mentioned earlier. G’night, he responded coolly, his head falling to the side as he waved his tail good-bye: See ya around! Hope the thudder doesn't get you in your sleep! With that the boy turned on his heels and retreated into the darkness, his paws leading him to where he had left Diego…

Fade. Thread complete!
