RE: Migrating geese are making quite the racket.
Bennet had not intended to lurk around the northern regions of Relic Lore for so long. She’d met an uncle, and returned to Kingsfall – but her mother and brother were missing, and so there was no reason to stay. She desperately wanted to find evidence of either, but so far, nothing had turned up. And then the snow had started.
It had been almost a full year since Kjors had died, now.
The young wolf sighed, eyes narrowed slightly as she settled further into the dead reeds alongside the lake. Migrating geese had been passing through for several days; she’d nabbed one on the first day, but hadn’t had much luck since. Now, her stomach was starting to growl, and Bennet knew she must catch another one – maybe once her belly was full, she could work out another plan.
Inching forward on her belly, she tipped her ears back – and bolted forward, teeth snapping! But she was too far, and the geese had enough had start to leap back into the air, squawking protest all the while.
“Shit!” she hissed, watching them soar away. Damn birds!
