The pale white boy stood on a clear opening, both to show whomever might come greet him that he was alone - and to make sure he had multiple directions to choose from in case he had to escape. After all, father had always told him how he should be careful with strangers. Aurek gathered his courage and sorted his thoughts. You doing this? yup, you are doing this. Here we go, one two and half and... was it three that came after it? He howled, shortly but clearly enough that the local pack should hear it. After all, he was right at their doorstep.

Here we go, one two and half and... was it three that came after it? He howled, shortly but clearly enough that the local pack should hear it. After all, he was right at their doorstep.
His nose crinkled at the scent of a stranger on the wind. A call followed shortly after but he still couldn't find it in him to ease his posture. So the large male carried his stocky form to the borders swiftly. After all, he was picking up slack where @Drestig might have once been more present. The Artemieva was rather happy to pick up extra jobs while his leader took the time necessary to heal.
He strolled up to the borders with a dominant stance that spoke of his lofty position in the pack - even if he was not the leader. "What do you want?" A brow arched above bright orange eyes. Laike was getting straight to business, as usual. He had no time for wolves who wanted to dilly dally and waste time he could be spending getting work done. Even time that could be dedicated to flourishing his relationship with @Adelayde.
With her dark leader still recovering from his injury during the joint hunt between the Rye and the River wolves, the duo betas have been doing all they could to pick up the slack for not just @Drestig, but for @Jessie as well to allow her to devote time to helping her mate in healing. Ade was solely impressed with their healer @Neko, however, she wished her alpha's injury hadn't of been so severe. The loyal second could only hope and do everything she could to ensure her leader recovered. Drestig was an important aspect in her life, she has grown to see him and his wife, Jessie as family. And Adelayde hated seeing her family in distress.
@Laike had assumed a lot of the responsibilities that were left unattended to with Drestig's absence, which she was grateful. Had he still been within the River, Ade would be drowning in duties left unattended as well as continuing the endless search for @Sphinx. The Artemieva wasn't likely to give up her search, though she knew she had to travel further with any hope in finding her. With everything going on within the Rye and with winter steady, she had no option but to continue searching every square mile within a few days of the Rye. Though, she was still praying for good news from @griffin.
As she patrolled the borders, a call rang out for the Rye wolves and the beta was swift to answer the call, though she was beat by her own husband. With a coy smile upon her lips as she drew up along the pale agouti, sweetly nudging his shoulder with her muzzle before her gaze fell upon the stranger before them. Her own stance dominant, though friendlier than her stern husband. Having heard Laike get right to business, she didn't speak, instead raised a brow in waiting for his answer.
Aurek waited patiently for someone to come investigate his call and while doing so, he tried to occupy his drifting mind with words he should perhaps say when introducing himself and his reasons for calling. He crafted simple enough plan. Apologize, introduce and then get to point. Simple three steps. As soon as he saw the first wolf - and then second to appear however, Aurek's heart begin to bound little faster. The first one especially did not seem very friendly.
The young boy was perhaps stunned a little bit by Laike's straight to the point question, collapsing whatever plan he had just had moments before. The pale white young man even took a step back, his tail waving the slightest and face bearing uneasy smile as he muttered (mostly to himself) "Oh man... you are scary one"
His eyes darted between the two before he caught himself and decided to just throw words at them. "So, uhh... huuu... Yeah! Hello!" Wow, this was starting so well. Perhaps it was fortunate Duska was not with him, for she would have laughed at him.

The young boy before the duo obviously seemed a little overwhelmed and frightened at the front the Rye betas held before their borders. His pale foot stepped backwards away from them as his face grew uneasy before he muttered softly more to himself than either of them. Adelayde wanted to chuckle at the mention of Laike being a scary one. Seafoam eyes glanced over to her pale agouti husband with smirk forming upon her ebony lips, before she turned back to the young boy, the smirk replaced with a friendly smile.
The boy stumbled for words, deciding not to answer Laike's question at all. So the Rye beta took a different approach, a softer approach for the boy. "Hi there!" She replied warmly, hoping her friendlier approach would get some answers out of the boy on why he was here so close to the Rye borders. "I'm Adelayde and this is Laike," she introduced before motioning towards her pale husband. "What can we do for you?"
He grumbled softly at the boy's motions and words - backing up and ignoring the Rye wolf's question. The boy had called, did he expect no one to actually answer?
Orange eyes looked over as his wife took the reigns. His ego took a light blow but he'd manage. Her words were warm and lively, one of the things he loved the most about her. He appreciated her reasking the question. Maybe one of them would be able to get answers out of the pale boy.
The Artemieva never lowered his stance, though. Adelayde was welcome to do as she pleased but Laike had every intention of keeping himself as the muscle.
Name Laike should have begin to ring some bells in the boy's head - for he did know he had uncle by that name, but somehow that fact entirely missed him at this point - perhaps he was so lost in the moment and just trying to - not provoke anyone by saying anything stupid. Encouraged by the female's words and her more friendly approach, the young white male tried again. First, bit of courtesy. He bowed his head in reserved manner and then spoke again - this time managing to explain his reason for coming here.
"Good day to you both. Uhh.. My name is Aurek and I am in search of my uncle. He should be pretty famous around these parts - Lorcan is his name. Lorcan Artemieva. " -the boy explained brief and to a point this time, even relaxing somewhat as he managed to spit out what he had came for.
Only now did the male's name begin to surface in his head and Aurek turned his curious eyes at him, careful not to stare at him into face, but studing his details more closely now. He really had no idea how uncle Laike might have looked like. Malek very rarely talked about him and details were always rare. He dared to take a brief glance at the beta male's eyes and as he did so, Aurek's brow raised somewhat, asking silent question. Laike who?
The boy bowed his head in respect which was a good sign as she was sure Laike would have some words for the kid if he didn't show any respect. Finally, after her gentler approach with the boy, he began to speak. This time in complete sentences without trembling.
Adelayde cupped her tawny ears to listen to what the boy had to say. Aurek... In search of an uncle... Lorcan... Knowing the name, her mismatched eyes turned to Laike just before the boy continued. Lorcan Artemieva... The kid was Laike's nephew! Excitement flooded her vision. This boy was Laike's family, her family too by marriage. Oh, how exciting!
With her raised tail waving excitedly, her voice was warm and maniacal. "Well, you're in luck, Aurek! You found one of your uncles!" She answered with a beaming smile, before shifting her mismatched eyes over to her mate. Oh, he was so not going to love this as much as she was.
He couldn't help the sharp snort that escaped him at the younger boy's words. Adelayde's words were dismissed for now (an extremely rare thing for Laike to do) because he couldn't help himself but quip.
"Famous? Who put that idea into your head, boy?" Famous for what? Coming and going as he pleased? Being flakey? Yeah, if that was what his brother was being called famous for then perhaps Laike could agree.
It was only once he got those words out that he moved back to what Adelayde had said. "I'm not Lorcan, obviously, but I suppose I'd be your uncle too - albeit not the famous one." His orange eyes looked over at his wife with a gentle nod following. "This is my mate so she'll be your aunt." He couldn't hide the love that was in his gaze as he admired Adelayde briefly.
With a small huff he looked back towards the pale boy. "What's brought you here to look for family?"
