For @Lachesis ! I'm seriously so excited for this thread :D

The air around here was thicker, and the fog that covered the lands made it nearly impossible to see a few feet or more in front of her. She moved with caution, promising Kajika and Moonshadow that she wouldn't be away for too long and doubted that they would approve of her injuring herself after a brief visit away from the pack. The urge to venture out past their borders had made her itchy for adventure, it was a feeling she'd been quelling for days now, afraid of the unknown kept her from breaking her promise but she was assured that a short visit beyond the border wouldn't hurt. She had every intention of returning back to Fallen Tree Cove; loyalty trumped her desire for freedom.

The sound of movement made her pause, the fur along her back prickling on end while she waited for what would approach through the thick fog but nothing came and she was certain that the sound had come from fleeing prey. She continued on, her head low and leveled with the ground as she sniffed at the scent that filled her nose--Dragonveil Fold was beautiful. She could hear the water trickling, its movement slow and deliberate and knew that within a few weeks its raging rapids would be a sweet calling for every thirsty creature within a mile, today it was cold and uninviting, muggy and musty but the ground felt soft between her toes and she knew she preferred this over the mountain of her home. Another sound shifted her attention and she watched the fog, expecting something or someone to show face--surely she couldn't be here all alone.

is it okay if this is set before this thread?

He’d gone further then he intended to. The ghost blamed the unexpected fog, as there was no real reason for him to wander so far south. He’d already visited his friends in the shallows and he was planning on sending Jynx to the Bend to alert Kisla’s former pack of the move; he did not need to make the journey. But the fog had caused him to get turned around, making it impossible for the Arctic to determine distance as the thick, hazy clouds billowed around him. It was oddly peaceful, as was the solitude that came with it, but it left the male feeling a little uncertain. He would need to turn back soon, before he was missed.

The fold reminded him of Driftwood; a perfect mountain hideaway. There was something familiar about the place but it was difficult to tell with the haze that surrounded him. If he went further south he’d stumble upon his first home in the lands of Lore; Pitch Pine Trail. Perhaps one day, when he did not care about how long he was absent for, Lachesis would revisit his former haunts. But, for now, he had responsibilities to tend to. Wolves to take care of.

Which was why he had spun on his heels and begun his retreat back to Driftwood.

Until a familiar scent cut through the mist, causing the fur on the back of his neck to lift.

Surely it was just a figment of his imagination; a ghost. It wasn’t possible…

It had been a long time since he had caught scent of this particular individual. But the memories associated with the scent were filled with broken promises. Promises to stay; to fix things. But nothing got fixed. The scent disappeared along with the face once more, leaving Lachesis with a bitter taste in his mouth. He had gotten used to being disappointed and had not expected things to change. It had become difficult to earn the ghost’s trust over the years, and not just by strangers—but those close to him too.

He gave his head a quick shake, dismissing the scent. No. He refused to believe that the ebony ghost had returned, Continuing forward the healer’s pace quickened, his chartreuse gaze sweeping his misty surroundings to ensure he remained alone…

<33333! No problem :D
A familiar scent entered her nose and she felt a rapid thud in her chest, her stomach churned with disbelief as she struggled to see beyond the thickening fog. She had never forgotten him, memories of his touch were nostalgic and easily placed a smile on her dark mug, but that was years ago and last she remembered he was leading Heartwood River which was far away from this mountain; a comfortable distance. The scent grew nearer, much stronger with minutes passed and it became harder to dismiss his scent as nothing more than mind tricks, she had begun to believe that he had found her and nervousness made her question why. She moved, wanting to trust her instincts, and when the outline of a figure caught her eyes she released a gasp that was nearly a shriek, studying the tall form in silence. Even from this distance, through the unruly fog, he was handsome and her heart beat louder in her ears at the idea of what he was doing here, all alone. "Lach?!" she questioned through the thickness with her tail low between her legs and ears pinned backward on her skull as he approached. What could this meeting mean?

Although he was no longer fond of the exotic beauty Lachesis had always wondered what happened to her after she disappeared a second time. She had promised to redeem herself, to prove that she had changed, but she had broken that promise. Which did not come as a surprise to the gangly ghost. He had grown accustom to wolves breaking their promises over the years. At least Anastasia, who had disappeared shortly after her first return, was now trying. She had begun to flourish after the move to Driftwood and was slowly breaking out of the walls she had encased herself in. Bastet, however, had vanished without a trace. With the collection of scents mingled in with her own it appeared that she had found a new pack to call home. Hopefully she didn’t disappoint them, too.

Just as he was about to flee, leaving the ebony female to the fog and her thoughts, her familiar voice called out to him. Lach? His legs grew rigid as he stopped in the snow, his pointed snout turning to her dark figure in the distance. He watched, cautiously, as she approached, his tail stiff and level with his back. Can I help you? He inquired with an indifferent tone as his lips curled downward into a soft frown. What did she want from him?

Her voice lingered in the wind longer than she'd anticipated, and she lowered her ears in shame, averting her eyes from what she could only assume was distrust, and disgust from the eyes of the wolf she once loved. She couldn't help noticing the change, though physically Lachesis had remained much the same, his personality had altered in a way that she no longer recognized and almost immediately she wanted to turn on her toes and avoid this meeting all together--stubbornness kept her at her spot. She swallowed the lump in her throat loudly, finally finding the courage to search his handsome aging face through the fog and forced a smile no matter how sad she felt deep down inside. She knew that he had not expected to ever see her again, "No...I...you look good Lach" she said, stuttering over her words was a first for the exotic woman. She didn't know what else to say, it was clear he would rather be in a million other places than her presence but she took this opportunity to spark up what ever was left between them even if only for closure. "what brings you out this way?" she asked with genuine curiosity. She had missed him, but would reserve these words for later...

As he watched her dark figure stalk through the fog he began to regret his indifferent tone. He had changed since the last time they saw each other and, he hoped, she had too. The ghost had once envisioned a future with the exotic she-wolf, but that had disappeared with her. It didn’t matter—Lachesis was a firm believer that everything happened for a reason. Her absence had led him to Lilya, who had shown him what love and loyalty was. His future only included her (and however many children they decided to have). There was no point in being angry with Bastet. He had better things to focus his attention on.

It appeared that she had found a new home and he genuinely hoped that it worked out for her. She deserved the same happiness he had found in Hearthwood, and now with Lilya. Just because she had burned her bridges with him did not mean the trend would continue with others. He hoped so, anyway. For her sake. We moved, he answered honestly in response to her question, his expression softening as he met her mis-matched gaze. Closer to the mountain. And you—what are you doing here?

It seemed that her persistence had won him over and for the moment she enjoyed what information he would give her, whether how small. He was unusually short with her, but respectfully so considering how horrible she had treated him, but she took the information he gave as a good sign. The pack had moved closer, which had the potential for them to meet more often, if given the chance she supposed she could venture out from the border in search of him purposely, if only to gain a few more minutes with him. "Good, I'm glad to hear that. I assume all is well then," under his guidance so many moons ago the pack was fairing fairly well, she knew that he had proved to be a better leader than even he had expected and she was happy that finally he had seen his potential. She had realized it from the moment they met, and staring at him now, he wore a confidence that looked very well on him. " I joined Fallen Tree Cove some time back, Kajika currently leads and welcomed me into the pack. He is a great wolf," she said, not sure why she had even mentioned that last part but assumed it had everything to do with the stench of another wolf he carried on his pelt. She was not naive enough to believe that he had not taken up a mate by now, and part of her was jealous that finally he had found happiness without her. "I...I'm sorry Lach..." the words spilled from her jaws without warning but there was no taking them back now--she meant every word of it.

It’s getting better, he admitted with a soft roll of his shoulders and a defeated smile, his ears sweeping back toward the back of his skull. Now wasn’t the time to dive into the woes and tragedies of Hearthwood. That was a conversation for a different day—maybe when things were better between the two. He was still trying to get over his own stubbornness and forgive her. Her absence had worked out for the better; he had found Lilya. His life with her was exactly what he had always pictured for himself. Of all the females that had entered his life she was the only one that had stayed and kept her promises to him. Which was why he was letting go of the bitter feelings he held toward Bastet. There was no need for them.

Fallen Tree Cove. His ears twitched in interest. He was unfamiliar with the pack. Had the move to the lake brought them closer to another pack in the area? It appeared so. Kajika. He would store the name away for future reference, in case he stumbled upon their borders. It wasn’t sure if it’d be wise to make himself known to the nearby pack, for he did not know how close they were yet. Good, he hummed with a soft nod, his lips curled into a genuine smile, I’m happy for you. And he was.

Her apology, however, came as a surprise. He blinked, unsure of how to react or respond. He took a hesitant step forward, a worry line forming between his brows. A heavy sigh escaped him. You don’t need to apologize. It was too late for that now. It was what it was.

"Good, good. I'm happy to hear that," she said, a smile came across her lips easily and she would have pestered him further but part of her was more interested in him--everything concerning him. She had a million questions to ask: who was he with, how many puppies had be helped to conceive, would he ever be able to forgive her, but the smarter side of her knew these questions were trivial. It was not wise to ask these so soon, not when she couldn't quite tell if he was remotely happy to see her, and if he was, he was excellent at concealing it. She had given her his pack with hopes that he would do something with the information, perhaps visit them when the weather was better, she would welcome him with wide open arms as he had done for her so many times prior if ever he did. He deserved that at the very least, since her loyalty to him had been severed more than once before. "and thank you, that means a lot to me." his happiness had always mattered to her, even if she had been much of the cause for his pain.

She could feel the bubble return to her throat, it threatened to stammer her words, make her appear weaker than she actually was but at this point of time she was not ashamed to admit that he made her feel emotions that she thought were dead. Memories of him had helped her during her worst times and she often recalled them when she rested in her den, secluding herself from the world in a attempt to quell her loneliness away but now he stood before her, his eyes as sparkling as they were the moment they met and she wanted nothing more than to feel him next to her. She wanted to make the pain go away--she hadn't meant to harm him, and yet she had been too selfish to think of him those many moons ago. Now he stood before her, unbroken and strong and she was near the brink of crumbling. This was strange to her and it showed in the very way she attempted to speak to him, "no...no Lach I do need to apologize. I know it won't change anything, and you have every right to hate me, but I at least want you to know that..." she trailed off, knowing that what she said now probably held no merit but voices in her head urged her on and she swallowed a large lump of pride and continued. "I never stopped thinking of you." she meant to say more, admit more to him during this brief meeting but she held back simply because it hurt more to think that everything she was feeling wasn't reciprocated.
