It was days like this that made Namir miss home. Not that she had much of a home to return to -- even if she left the forest here, she'd hardly return to Crow's Crossing. Orin wouldn't greet his wayward thief with open paws. At this point, he likely assumed her dead, or failed in her mission. She was safer a ways away. She had no friends there. She wasn't sure if she had friends here either, but she didn't have family, and that was something.
The sun beat down from overhead and the young adult huffed, stepping into the shallows of the lake. It had receded some from its swollen spring size, the recent heat sucking all moisture from the earth. She loved this, the heat. The intensity of it. But instead of some joy in this, she found only memories met with uncertainty. Perhaps it was time to return to the arid lands she'd been born to. If things didn't change soon, maybe that's what would clear her mind.
