Reiko, you discovered some berries, only you can't remember if you were told they were definitely safe or definitely poisonous.
The tawny boy had traveled across the expanse of southern eden for a few days now, unsure of where he was looking to go but knowing that there was no reason heading anywhere nera the Draw. Treyah had said she never wanted to see him again and he was going to make a point to keep that promise. There was no use wishing that she would change her mind and understand his reasonings for not bending the knee so why push his luck? Besides, he could make friends and family elsewhere until the miracle of a sister came back to him.

Near the middle of the meadow was some reddish-purple berries laying so precisely upon the ground. As if someone had picked them and simply left them for someone else to enjoy. Tongue slipped through his lips as he considered eating them, his mouth salivating at the idea of such sour and sweet treasures. Though, the red-purple berries could be good or not-so-good and Reiko couldn't quite remember what he had been taught growing up. The boy wasn't too interested in taking risks that jeopardized his life but they'd be such a good meal if they were safe... what should he do?

Revon Argyris Archer

She’d been spending too much time on the mountain. Rightfully so, as her mother was due to give birth in the coming weeks, but the scarlet Archer couldn’t help but feel trapped. While her departure from the mountain at the beginning of the year had been … unconventional part of her missed being able to roam through the lower elevation territories. She still preferred the mountain, as she always would, but she had grown fond of the lush meadows and forests below. Mostly because Wendigo had dragged her through them, opening her up to a world she never knew existed until her kidnapping.

She was wary as she tiptoed through the meadow, her fiery gaze surveying the brilliant, chartreuse foliage. Revon had almost forgotten how lush and inviting spring was. A smile almost graced her russet features when she spotted another in the distance, causing a soft frown to appear instead. Y’gonna just start at 'em or you gonna eat ‘em? She called out suddenly, her chin tipped softly to one side as she studied him. Her nails dug into the soft ground as she remained where she was, her tail flicking idly behind her as she waited for a response.

Uncertain of what to do now that he had found food but couldn't foresee his fate, staring at them in the hopes of jogging his memory seemed the best option. Not when it came to strangers stumbling upon him, of course. One in particular that couldn't read his mind and know that he had been taught about this but simply couldn't remember his lessons. The voice of antagonization slithered into his ears as he turned to look expectantly at the tawny stranger. Can't remember if they're poisonous or not, he explains without question for he wasn't exactly in a playful mood with this and he certainly wasn't very playful the second he smelled something out of the ordinary. He hadn't eaten them so his fur wasn't rotting off, but the stench alone was one that truly bothered his internal compass.

His response wasn’t what she expected. She had almost hoped from a grumpy whatever rolling off his tongue, but maybe it was better that the tawny youth was indifferent. Less mouthy. It would make her think less about her dead friend. She mustered up a small smile, her tail swaying gently behind her as she shrugged in response. The tawny boy appeared bothered by the strange plant, which was probably a sign that he shouldn’t eat them. If that was even what he was considering. Well, she started, her expression soft as she dismissed the plants with a sharp flick of his nose, if you’re not sure then it’s probably best t’leave 'em alone. Unless he wanted his fur to fall off or to throw up for a few days. There’s probably better things t’eat around here. She had gone hunting for rabbits here before with an older member of the pack, which meant there were plenty of furry critters to chase. Not yucky, poisonous berries.

It was then that she caught scent of a familiar but unfamiliar creature. Two of them, actually. Her posture stiffened as she glanced over her shoulder, her ebony lips folding into a tight frown. She took a step closer to the agouti stranger, the tip of her tail flicking behind her as she tried to compile a plan to flee the area. Maybe try offerin' some to them, she added with a sharp flick of her nose in the direction of their unwelcome company.

I tried to find the rutt & tuke one where they run away, but couldn't find one D:

Reiko truly wasn't sure what to do with the berries, he really wanted to try them out and just hope for the best. However, he knew that the girl was right. It was best that he simply leave them alone and guarantee himself another day of living and breathing. You're right. It'd be stupid to take a chance on them. After all, he wasn't very good at thinking before doing as was becoming quite apparent to him after the choices that he had made.

Of course, he wasn't exactly anticipating to trade one healthy choice for another. While he might have put the berries aside, another hungry-looking buddies seemed keen on a snack but it was unclear what kind of snack they were looking for. The second that Revon scooted closer, Reiko drew in a tight breath and felt his body grow rigid, his tail tip moving silently behind him. It's .. It's.. It's a-ahll y-yours, he swallowed, the noise echoing in close vicinity as he looked to the tawny creatures that stared the pair down. Reiko attempted to take a singular step back, hoping to avoid any confrontation with unwanted visitors.

If the tawny male wanted to try the berries and test their toxin levels she wasn’t about to stop him. She had no obligations to him; they were from different packs and he was still a stranger to him. If he was willing to risk his life for some stupid berries than so be it. But, fortunately for Revon, she wasn’t about to see another wolf die in front of her. The older male abandoned his berries and turned his attention to the pair of coyotes that ogled them from a distance. Until now the scarlet Archer had been rather fortunate in avoiding the mangey creatures. There wasn’t too many of them littering the mountains, but enough to cause worry among the mountain wolves. It was possible that these two had followed her down the mountain, or that they had made a home of the meadow. The land at the base of the rock was far more agreeable for the thin-legged creatures, she was hoping for the latter.

Her companion’s timid response urged the girl to react, her fiery gaze turning to the older male as she prodded him with her pointed snout. C’mon, she murmured, her attention returning to the coyotes before them, best we get outta here before they decide t’make us a snack, huh? She nipped at his shoulder to get his paws going as her backward pace quickened; her fiery gaze never once wavering from the pair of coyotes.

While the tawny boy always did his best to put on a brave face for all to see, Reiko was certainly no soldier at heart. In fact, he could count on his fingers how many times he had gotten into a fight with anyone. Exactly. He has no fingers, only toes. So no fights. None. In an instant, as the two mangey creatures dangling themselves carefully in front of him, did his walk backwards resort to a stumble and a quick turn. Revon didn't have to tell him twice and her nip to the shoulder was more than enough incentive - he ran as fast as his legs would take him and my, they felt more powerful than ever. Paws thundering against the dusty ground beneath them and in an exhilirated rush he didn't even realize that what should've been a nice outing had turned into something far scarier that certainly might've had a different outcome had he not had company or suggestive pieces of fruit. exit w/ revon?

The russet girl quickly followed suit as she sprinted alongside the tawny stranger, a wide grin across his pointed snout. The sudden rush of adrenaline fuelled her, pushing her long, nimble limbs forward as they streaked through the trees. She was not interested in scrapping it out with a pair of scrawny coyotes—even if she thought her and the brooding stranger were capable of taking them on. She was still young, stupid and very inexperienced when it came to fighting. She could only imagine her mother’s reaction if she came home with a war wound. Her father would likely snicker despite giving her a stern glance—for her mother’s sake, of course. Or maybe it would be the opposite. It was always difficult to gauge their reactions… they were always changing…

The thoughts were quick to dissipate as she continued along the run with her new companion. She did not know how long they had been running for, or where they were running to, but eventually she would branch off. She needed to return to the mountain, after all. Not hang around meadows with moody, handsome strangers. The princess of the mountain had much more important things to tend to. Like keeping her brothers in check.

Fade, thread complete.
