The boy had slightly detoured from the plan. Hell, his eleven months of life had been one giant detour, as Valor always preferred taking the scenic route. Enjoying the view. Stopping to smell the flowers. Et cetera. He knew where to go, for the most part, so he was not in a hurry to catch up—even though it had been him that had left first to seek out their father. There wasn’t anything special or extravagant about where they had ended up—in fact, it was rather dull. But, who was he to judge? He’d only explored one territory so far. There was a chance that it was going to get better; more interesting.

But that was Valor looking on the bright side of things, as always.

It was what he did best.

He pranced through the meadow with long, lazy strides, his fiery gaze sweeping over the sea of green surrounding him. The scent of his family lead east, which was precisely why he’d gone the opposite direction. But not too far, as he still wanted to meet up with them eventually. Or have them find him—whatever came first. The almost-yearling continued along, his creamy paws dragging through the soft grass as he kept his nose low. The field was heavy with the scent of wolves, but none familiar to him (as expected). Which meant that it was probably close to a pack. But, there was another scent that made his nose quiver and his ears sag: the scent of coyotes. Plural, not singular. Which troubled the youth. He almost considered slipping off to find his family, but what would be the fun in that? So, for now, he ignored it. The stench was mostly stale, which worked in Valor's favour...

WARNING: Pilea posts often are full of curse.

Pilea was fucking lost and she knew it the moment she came here to this open meadow with the scent of many wolves here all of which she did not know. The Ritter woman however had not expected to know much once coming here although she had been to the Lore before. Her prior stay had been quite brief, not stopping to 'smell the roses' as the youth in front of her often did, for she had been on a mission back then, years ago. The death of her one and only son had hit her hard, a kick in the guts which the woman had never been able to mend from. The fact that he had been killed by her own niece's negligence only made matters worse to the woman. Once a proud female, strong and yet, stable she had grown to become quite a bitter bitch, spiteful, vengeful. It was probably why she had fit into Shrike's little group so easily and so well.

It was probably also why she had taken such a liking to the boy, too, when he and his sister had met up with them. Keeping track of him, it had given her a newfound purpose and perhaps @Shrike had noticed this and it had helped her solidify her placement amongst them despite her standoffish, hateful attitude. She looked out for the kid for his happy, carefree and adventurous personality reminded her of the son she had lost so long ago.

She followed him now, albeit kept her distance from him as though to give him a sense of independence that is at least until he realized she was following him. After all, the grayscale woman was not known to be smooth and stealthy in nature. She knew that they would have to get back with the group sooner then later and yet still could not break the boy of the enjoyment he was having - not yet.

Despite the boy’s young age and rather reckless demeanour, he wasn’t a complete idiot. Maybe half, or twenty percent, but definitely not full idiot. Which meant that the agouti youth was well aware of the wolf trailing him. For now he disregarded her presence, as it wasn’t interfering with his adventuring. He thought of slipping away, maybe finding a river or a body of water to wash his scent clean; make things a little interesting, if not difficult for the greyscale woman. He pushed the thought aside almost immediately, as the woman wasn’t smothering him. She never did. Despite the serious, disgruntled expression she typically wore, the silver female wasn’t so bad. She gave him more of a long leash than his father did, so Valor didn’t mind her trailing behind him.

He continued along with his nose kept low to the ground, his brows pinched tight as he attempted to assess how many scents had passed through the lush meadow. It was more than he could keep track of, that was for sure. All foreign—aside for the coyotes. That was a scent that the boy could never forget. It certainly made things interesting, as he didn’t expect there to be so many in the lands of Lore. He didn’t know if that was a common occurrence, of if the sudden increase in coyote numbers was an anomaly.

What’re your plans for today? He called out to the wind once he grew bored of ignoring her. He wouldn’t care if she didn’t answer—he almost didn’t expect her too. Valor had the gift of the gab; he couldn’t sit in silence for very long when he knew that there was another present.

Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

Rakel's stomach grumbled unhappily as the female started her day. Young, just having reached sexual maturity the coyote had gathered quite a band of male followers all vying for her attention and favor. As expected all five of them were waiting for her as she exited the den they had taken for the night, practically drooling over her as soon as her paws hit the earth. They were idiots but Rakel liked the attention, and the possibilities that they provided. She was hungry and the scent of two wolves was strong in the area, perfect. Wolves usually meant food these days and they far outnumbered them, with a smirk the female gestured with her snout towards the meadow. Maybe whoever brought back the fattest piece of meat would win her heart, or at least one night of less disdain than normal.

We Aren't Afraid

The tawny boy had kept his nose to the group, scenting out everything that had passed through the area. Pilea took a similar approach, though her muzzle lifted high into the skies, catching the fresh scents on the wind. Coyote and seemingly lots of them. She wondered how long their vermin cousins had been roaming this part of Relic Lore and wondered if they had made a mistake in making way into this part of the region, especially seperated from their group. Finally then the youth spoke up, asking her what her plans were for the day. She paused, turning her brightly yellow eyes into his direction and after a moment, offered a shrug to his question. Silence. But then after another moment she decided to rumor the youth. "Keep track of you." She spoke with her gruff, growled tone though a smirk toyed at her lips as she said it.

That is, of course, until she heard the commotion of others in the area. Others which she half expected to be their group and if not that then a neighboring pack where all these strange wolf scents were coming from. It wasn't. Five male coyote could be seen in the distance at the edge of the tree line where the meadow began from the forestry beyond. Their attention was trained of the wolves with a sense which she had not expected from them. It was not fear like she normally witnessed in a coyote, but aggression and dominance and an air of power about them. "Something tells me we should get the hell out of here."

Shrike
Daddy shrike barges in to make three

Shrike soon came to realise that this land had a pest problem. Perhaps if he'd been of weaker mind and body, he would have feared for the integrity of his plan. But as annoying as they could be, he couldn't help but suspect that these vermin might prove to be useful in the coming days. Anything that made the packs of these lands weaker made him stronger. Or at least that's how the former commander saw it.

He knew that his daughter had been sniffing around after her brother, but he'd never intended to find the boy for himself. Yes yes, he was his offspring, but unlike his sister he didn't hold so much promise. His mind wasn't as sharp or as focused, he was more inclined to wander aimlessly, rather than stride along with confidence and purpose. Perhaps one day he would be of use to Shrike, but for now he was- in Shrike's mind- at the bottom of the pecking order. A wonky tool that had very few uses.

Pilea on the other hand...Well, she was a completely different creature. Her desires were as clear as day to Shrike, and being the man he was he played on them, accentuated them. Made promises he may or may not keep, it all very much depended on how things worked out.

"Why the hurry?" The great black beast asked, his head tipping the side just so. His gaze roamed the land, lingering on the swaying grass and the- oh. It seemed as though they had company. Coyote's again, surprise surprise. He rolled his eyes hard as he strode on, standing ahead of his son and the grey-moody- woman. "Run you say? That's not how we do things, Pilea."

It was true they were outnumbered, but were the coyotes truly that eager to die? The Crew ate on the go, carried nothing of value, if these pests truly wanted to press the issue they would gain absolutely nothing from it. Not that Shrike would even allow such a thing to pass. They were beneath him, lower pitiful beings that didn't deserve to breath the same air as he.

"What do you think, son?" He asked, as his green, sickly gaze moved to the tanwny boy.

@Pilea @Shrike sorry for the wait guys! <3

Keep track of you. He snorted in mild amusement; a corner of his cheek lifting as he turned to look over his shoulder to meet her sunflower gaze. It seemed that all of the Carrion Crew wanted to keep track of him—as though they didn’t trust him to be alone. The thought was almost enough to bring a frown to his tawny features, but the boy remained composed. He was far too optimistic to allow a few overbearing wolves to bring him down. He was still capable of having his fun—with or without them tagging along.

However, as he studied her silver figure with his tongue poised for a sharp response, he spotted moving figures in the distance. It appeared that the Carrion duo was no longer alone, and the faces in the distance were not ones he recognized. Instead they belonged to a group of coyotes—five, to be exact. His nostrils flared; slender legs stiff. Pilea seemed intent on vacating the area, which the boy also considered for a fleeting moment, but his thoughts shifted when a familiar scent reached his nostrils. His father had decided to make an appearance, as well, but the boy was not surprised. Why the hurry? His pointed snout turned to the group of coyotes in the distance, his tail flicking in frustration behind him. Valor wasn’t opposed to running, either, but what was the fun in that? What do you think, son? His amber gaze shifted, a cocky, lopsided grin appearing on his youthful features. I think there’s still some fun to be had, he chimed in as he regarded the group of scrawny coyotes in the distance, his brows pinched tight. Three against five? It wasn't a fair fight, but it would certainly make things interesting.

WARNING: Pilea posts often are full of curse.

Valor had not known the reasoning why she watched him so intently. The reasoning for her worry. Perhaps he would never known for at the moment it was only his father that had been able to pry the secret from her mouth.

Shrike had arrived, his words directed to her causing her ears to fall though her yellow eyes remained fixed somewhere on his face, her head still lifted as she nodded silently to her Boss. She wouldn't question his judgement, not now. Likely not ever. He had picked at her, poked at the badger without a care and found out her one and only weakness. Puppies. And not any puppies for she couldn't give two shots about most of them, but it was the death of her one and only son that would forever sting her and how he died for that matter. Shrike, she was sure, knew that his son had reminded her somewhat of her own that had been lost. He seemed to find out everything and because of it amongst other reasons, she followed him. What better had she to do when vengeance and anger filled her so?

Valor jut his muzzle into the direction of the coyote at his father's question. Then Shrike asked his son what he thought and the boy's regard changed. He was ready for a fight, but was it only to prove himself to his father? Either way it didn't matter. Pilea nodded silently, her sun bright gaze narrowing as she shifted herself to face off the vermin. Her head lowered and tucked back protectively and aligning with her spine, her ears remaining folded back. Her body was tense, legs bent, ready to take off after them at the go ahead.

Shrike
M for violence

Pilea was protective over the boy, that didn't surprise Shrike in the least. He would have found it all rather sweet but...that wasn't the sort of man he was. From his viewpoint everything was so cold and calculated, he cared for nothing but wanted everything. And in time he would get it, for now it was matter of getting to that point, of climbing to the proverbial summit and using his subordinates as stepping stones along the way.

His gaze wandered to the coyotes once more as they prowled at the edges of the meadow. Their noses twitched in anticipation, as if they thought the trio carried something worth taking. Shrike made no effort to contain his sneer, they thought to steal from him? How quaint. All the more reason to take their lives, not only to teach the fools a lesson but also because he could. Still, his son's words earned the boy a pleased dip of his Father's head. There was always fun to be had, which seemed to be Valor's calling in life. It was a trite reason for being, but perhaps the boy could be nudged down a darker path. Shrike certainly saw potential in his offspring, otherwise he wouldn't have kept them around.

Five verses three wasn't exactly a fair fight, but the great black beast had come out on top with worse odds. They were only coyotes, he imagined they would spook soon enough once their blood was spilled.

"Good. Come, I will show you how it's done." His grin was wicked. He was having far too much fun.

Without warning or delay, Shrike charged forward with heavy, thudding footfalls. The quintet of coyotes visibly flinched, having not anticipated such an aggressive response. Some skittered away into the trees, cutting their loses before things got messy but some- two fools decided to remain. They would die for that.

Shrike's form collided with one of the coyotes. His weight alone was more than enough to knock the air from it's lungs and send it into a stupor, they tumbled to the ground. He could have gone for it's throat, bitten down hard and given it a relatively merciful end. But no, that wasn't his style, he'd sooner rip the beast limb from limb before he did that. Clamping down on it's muzzle, he shook his head ferociously, so fast he felt a little dizzy. As it's mouth was pinned shut the coyote couldn't cry out, but he felt the vibrations of it's cry of pain in his muzzle, against his teeth and tongue. Rather than letting go, or lessen his grip it made him bite down all the harder. More, he wanted more.

M for violence

He was never far, always close enough to barrel in to join whatever carnage the carrion crew were participating in. There was no surprise that the Boss's boy and his moody friend ran across another band of foolishly cocky coyotes. They were everywhere here it seemed, but they were easy to kill. Lean, small bodies easy to crush with his massive frame and hungry jaws. Blood would be spilled today and if the massive wolf had anything to do with it, it will be vermin blood.

From across the field, he could spot the raven leader charging towards the band, in turn prompting his Right Hand to gallop towards them as well. Approaching from the side, the remaining coyotes were unaware of his charge until they could just hear his pounding footfalls. They were too distracted by his commander's intimidating charge as he began to mangle the coyote he caught. His hefty weight barreled into the last remaining coyote as it turned to try to help his fellow vermin, though it was too uncertain of how to do so. Throwing the vermin a few feet across the ground, the fist followed through with his rampage, clamping his jaws around the now vulnerable throat.

Throwing his dusty head up towards the sky, in turn ripping the vermin's throat clear out of his neck. Crimson blood splattering across his dusty frame, his amber eyes shifted to see how the Boss was doing with his dinner as his hung from his jowls.
